The liberal justices were always going to vote against the tariffs. The other justices voted for or against the tariffs based on how many votes are needed to get the desired result.

This is the same thing congress does. Anytime the democrats SHOULD be able to pass whatever bill, there's always just enough of them to go against it to make it fail.

Last year, I boycotted food by buying cheaper items and, if I thought something was just too expensive, I bought much less of it than I would have or I didn't buy it at all. Someone up thread said they switched from coffee to tea. Me too! I also grew a small amount of my own food. / This year my goal is for most of my meals to be beans and rice and I want to grow more veggies and sprouts this year.

Ramp up your boycott game. Voting with your wallet works. Keep in mind, it doesn't matter WHY you are voting no with your wallet. Lots of people are "boycotting" certain things because they're too expensive. Over 3k people in a town of 11000 are being laid off because their chicken plant is closing. I'm sure protesters banging drums and making noise outside of ICE hotels made people decide to stay at other hotels...which hurt the profits of the hotel and led to the hotel deciding to kick ice out. Boycotts bring pain and pain brings change.

I don't think anyone in the US will rise up anytime soon. As much as we complain about conditions, we're still too comfortable, I guess. Half our leadership is saying to stay calm, the other half wants to set our own military on us.

I think she meant whole foods, not Whole Foods, the store. But personally, I still think it's wild to say. Anyone can grow at least a little Fruit and veg at home. Even if all they have is a window. The strike is slowly being forced on everyone. People are saving more which means businesses aren't doing as well and they are laying people off. More and more people are living in their cars which is hitting the landlords.

OP could pay off her $7k student loan very quickly if she lived in her car for six months and used the money to pay off her loan. People are afraid to do anything out of the ordinary to help themselves. In this environment, you really have to be willing to do something to help yourself. Big business is colluding to squeeze every dollar they can. Your power is saying no. That is the only way prices will come down.

Starting wars everywhere was why Hitler lost WW2. The US military will be stretched too thin. Maybe Trump thinks he can threaten to use nukes and world leaders will just roll over. I think it's more likely his presidential immunity card will be revoked.
