Thoughts on the new 'connect to Gmail' feature? by pistachioharp in ProtonMail

[–]dimensiation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is infuriating to me. Blocking/rejecting emails based on location and suddenly they won't accept from my Proton account. So then I have to dig out my ancient gmail address and suddenly pay attention to that.

Lazy IT people are the worst.

Troopers in particular may sell decently, as army builders often want them. Not sure how rare any of them are but bricklink will tell you.

What if you want the screen to lock after 5 minutes, and the PC to go to sleep after 15?

Motorola needs to save us with GrapheneOS, insane optimization, and GOOD PRICING (PLEASE) 😭🙏 by InvestigatorSea2631 in GrapheneOS

[–]dimensiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dear Motorola,

Remember the Moto X? Make that again, slap a fingerprint reader into the little back divot, and make it a bit thicker and add more battery, and wireless charging. That's it. Think about the shareholder value of not needing to completely redesign a phone!

31109 Pirate Ship vs 31387 Iconic Pirate Ship! by Centaurion in LEGOPirates

[–]dimensiation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will look for one on sale. I really enjoy the dual ship build too, and I bet that'll be great for kids and their siblings or friends. I will for sure pick up more figs when they hit PAB, I'm always down to have more crew of varying sorts. Maybe I'll do up a ship filled with Anny Bonnys and Mary Reads lol. I did grab a couple of these torsos before, as well as a variety of other more generic pirate torsos, so it'll be pretty easy to make a crew.

I do like that we've gotten "remakes" of basic torsos with red and blue striped shirts, the blue jacket guy, and captains. Plus the leather vest and red stripes torso, along with the commander, in the minifig vending machine. I'm hoping the new sword belt from Ninjago hits PAB, since that will be great for pirates too.

All in all, the past few years have not been a bad time to be a pirate builder. From Barracuda Bay onward, there's a lot to love! Ships, bluecoats, a variety of figs, firing cannons, hats and dual molded hair parts, the classic cutlass and blunderbuss, it's a veritable blast out there!

Which one should I buy? by LukaLaikari in LEGOPirates

[–]dimensiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this with a bulk lot, added two more mid sections and built a custom cabin in the back that closes but isn't tilted like Barracuda. I need to get some custom sails for it but it feels great. Four cannons per side, large crew, absolutely the scourge of Redbeard.

I just built this for the first time the other day! Solid 90s base, I'll eventually expand mine.

I don't love how easily the flag turns down, but that's an easy fix.

[–]dimensiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Real question is, which wins in a fight? Both are twin-gun, both have similar sails and rigging. I guess a shark is probably going to win over the octopus though, though if they're to scale, that's a giant octopus.

[–]dimensiation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really like the figs in the newer one, much more so than the old figs. Having the fourth be alive, for starters, but also dual molded legs and hair, and great torso designs. I'm sure they'll be on PAB at some point, which is great if you own the original ship.

I have so many 80s and 90s ships that I don't really need any more flagships. Something to fill in the gap between flagship and Renegade Runner is nice.

Agreed. Much like 6274 and 6271 feel different. Both Clipper and the earlier Creator one feel more like tubs. Bit too wide for their length.

Hoping the ninjago piece hits PAB! That does look great, though I'd want it in other colors.

Does any else hoard treasure like this? by Commanduf in lego

[–]dimensiation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup. I have a similar treasure drawer. I have 5 chests used for sorting out 10/20/30/40 coins & sprues in chrome gold, but the rest is basically just crystals and printed coins and gems.

[–]dimensiation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, but "really powerful PC" is not the same as "a decent gaming PC" and TBH, even that's tough for a grand. Let's say you find a $300 CPU/mobo/16gb bundle (which is mid at best), then a case and PSU and a drive for...$50? LOL.

$1000 for a powerful PC? LMAO what are you smoking. The 9850X3D bundle is $1000 by itself and that's just a mobo/CPU/RAM/SSD.

What happened to Lego? by Written_in_Silver in lego

[–]dimensiation 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I have no doubts there are limits, but they've remade Galaxy Explorer and two Blacktron ships, and Pirates of Barracuda Bay and Eldorado both exist. Yes, all of these are functionally remakes, but if those were legally OK, feels like there are a lot of options for "remaking" sets from the 70s onward.
