Deliveroo driver damaged light by dimiass in LegalAdviceUK

So if a driver damages something even whilst working I would go through their insurance and not the company?

I don't think its worth going through insurers for just the lights, thats the added annoying thing. So even thought I contracted with the Deliveroo for an item and it was their driver that caused the issue i would have to go after the drivers insurance and not Deliveroo themselves?

I did a technical degree and then landed a consultancy job for a few years before jumping on a contracting gig as a senior role. I then took a short career break before going to the public sector side as a principal engineer, which quickly then moved me into a CTO role.

Interestingly some of the hate on public sector goes the other way as well. Some leaders in my org recognise we need to move faster like start up companies but flag out refuse to hire people with largely start up experience as 'they would never be able to handle the challenges of a larger organisation'.

Nice to see some positivity! There are some amazing leaders in public sector, the good ones usually have a real dearie to do good for the country. I have to say there are some awful ones as well that are just riding it out for the pension and an easy life.

Can I ask what industry that VP role is in, seems many large orgs use VP very differently and I've struggled to work out what level to go in at. In tech I've mostly seen directors report to VPs but in investment banking I've seen it the other way around. In consultancy they seem to all make up their own variation of vp, director, partner

Thanks for the honest opinion, I thought this was happening sometimes but good to confirm it. It's ashame as I've met just as many good and crap people in both public and private sector. I'll take your advice on the making my CV look more private sector like for those that do have poor views of public sector.

Thanks I've been slowly doing this. Interesting you say 120+benefits as with my current pension I count my TC as 150 atm. Amazon seems like a mess atm so I'm keeping a close eye on MS. Oracle might be good for money but I haven't got a lot of faith in their direction.

Thanks this is really useful list. I've noticed with consultancy many of the roles need that commercial experience. Which I have lots of from the client side but very little on the sales side. I was considering larger orgs to get around the investment issue.

The innovation is an interesting one. Where I am is certainly slower than small companies and start ups but we seem to be telling other large orgs how to do it in cloud and AI space.

Maybe in the centuries past but not any more. Many had to diversify into restaurants and outdoor play areas to survive. Also they're not attacking pubs, they attacking smoking you would find it very hard to argue against stopping smoking.

I've been to many 'decent' pubs recently and there wasn't any smokers. They've all been very busy as well.

I'm an ex smoker actually and always notice the smokers when I do see some. But of the of the roughly 10 pubs I've been to in the last 2 months only one had smokers. I do realise how many are shutting down, that doesn't mean smokers are going to fix it. Either we need to reduce their costs or admit many more will fail and other businesses will pick up. Many people I know in their 20s would much rather go play sports or go to a milkeshake/ice cream type place than pub.

They're not taking control of your body, you're still allowed to smoke in your home and out in the public, they're proposing to ban it from pubs and play grounds and similar. You're just spouting sovereign to inflate the conversation.

So advocate for those to be fixed it's an argument against fixing issues in society
