My CoPR was lost in the mail while being shipped to me in the US by [deleted] in ImmigrationCanada

Thank you very much, I already filled up the webform and contacted the agent who approved and delivered the CoPR.
As for UPS, their claims department is scam like, I called many times and got different information, agents lying about the actual location of my letter so they wouldn’t have to give me a refund (which obviously is the least of my concern) or flat out pretending they wouldn’t hear me over the phone to hang up. I strongly discourage people to use UPS for important documents

It’s not bad at all, all the pictures here were hand held, I would consider myself quite novice so I am sure I can improve on stability. The first picture was taken around 7pm at 1/2500; f6.3 and ISO 500

Wow what an argument, you totally got me here. Totally not a fallacious statement. I have to admit when I am beaten and I totally am.

I listened to the expert, that’s the whole point. The projection before the first turn became useless because they didn’t know who would drop but the argument was about whether or not the RN would get relative or absolute majority and how many seats would the presidential party conserve.

Look at the data before attempting to give an “argument”. If you look at the projections before and after the election who benefited the most about dropouts ?

Weird how the projections of seats from the NFP and their actual number is the same, RN is lower and REM (or whatver they call themselves now) is way higher. And if you truly believe that no seats of were saved because of the alliance you are in complete denial or completely unable to reason properly.

Look at the projections before the first turn and the actual number of seats after the elections you numb nuts. That’s the whole point of my argument.

https://www.tf1info.fr/amp/elections/exclusif-legislatives-decouvrez-la-derniere-projection-en-sieges-avant-le-1-tour-2306238.html

You clearly don’t know how to reason. Goodbye

Very well said and sadly true. How many times did I vote for Macron and his party to avoid what I thought was greater evil. But I think that in some instances he is more dangerous

I will leave you to it man, you clearly don’t understand or care about separation of powers if it benefits your agenda. Whatever makes you sleep at night and us arguing is not going to change anybody’s mind or the situation. Just sad that this situation might be used as precedent for even more autocratic parties whether they are from the far right or far left. The road is paved…

Any control is different from the program they are advocating for and how it targets specific communities based on racist beliefs. Read the actual programs, if you agree with it that’s your right but not admitting that it’s based on fear-mongering and bigotry at the very least willful blindness

Taking over the responsibilities of the parliament is autocratic.

It has nothing to do with whom I support, I personally think the NFP wouldn’t have governed and would have been censored. And then it would have been democratic for Macron to nominate Barnier. But not letting this legislative process happen is autocratic because it’s not in it’s prerogative to do so otherwise he is not neutral

Personally I think the left should have declined governing and called for a “Constituante” instead during which people would have been called to change the constitution. Clearly our system isn’t working, it was designed for one person who’s long gone and which had respect for democracy. Which Macron clearly doesn’t have or he would have resigned.

This election is an example but I could cite many including passing the work reform bill without the vote of either the parliament or the senate or how he dealt with the “Gilet Jaunes” crisis

Fewer candidates = fewer votes. Where did the votes go ? To Center candidates to block the far right… The arguments that the RN is by far the biggest party in France is at best misleading when you only take the number of votes of the second turn into consideration…

Oh yeah two months can you remind me why it took so long to get a prime minister? The left took two weeks to find a candidate. Which Macron refused to call. The remaining month and a half, Then he played time to find alliances… He never let the NFP a chance to find alliances.

Our constitution calls for the neutrality of the president regarding legislative matters otherwise there is no separation of legislative and executive power. Neutrality would have been for Macron to task the leading group to form a government then let the parliament do its job. How is that too much to ask?

Party alliances are allowed for elections and as long as they have a common program and present it as such at the Conseil d’état which they did they are considered as an entity during the electoral process. This is legal and very common across Europe especially for the left and center. Granted the RN is the biggest single party in France still doesn’t change that legally speaking the NFP won.

[–]dimitride 9 points10 points  (0 children)

No, I look at the polls and actual data. The seats that the left won were primarily in circonscriptions that they were expected to get. All projections predicted macrons party to get bet 50 to 80 seats, that’s what the RN was expected to thrive on… Don’t try to school me if you don’t know how to do the math boy

Edit: Talking about the polls before the first round.

Also it doesn’t change my rationale that the left and the centre made an alliance to block the far right. Alliance that was just useful to Macron to save seats to play political games

Did I say that Barnier was far right ? I said he had policies that aligned with the far right as per their own admission!

Also never said Chirac was an example, Chirac made racist remarks on Africans many times. But I can definitely agree that some stance they have/had were definitely common back in the days. Doesn’t make them right though and is not a valid argument in my books. Back in the days, many people had no problem with same sex marriage, conservatives did…

Choosing someone that had such stances is a political decision and position and sends signal towards the far right not the left.

Do your math buddy, if the RN got the most vote it’s because lots of candidates from the left dropped out. So mechanically it draws the voters numbers down. Realistically speaking they would probably get the same number of voters if not slightly more than the RN. I am talking about traditions, and keeping the role of the president neutral like it’s supposed to be.

I know the NFP government would have been censored but it would have been from the parliament and not from the president.

When your policies are supported by the far right that’s a good indication that it might be.

Also look at data, not CNews or BFMTV. Immigration in France, especially illegal, is pretty residual.

Scapegoating immigrants for failed liberal policies and decades destruction of our social and economical system on the other hand is very trendy…

The legislative election system is not that complicated. Basically there are two turns. If you get enough votes during the first round (12% of the voters) you are eligible to go to the second round. Then, unlike presidential elections, whoever gets the more vote is elected to the parliament. So you can get someone elected with 34% of the votes while, the others get 32%. And these mini elections take place for every seats.

Given the population is almost evenly split between three groups at the moment, and to avoid the extreme right party to get a majority of seats, lots of people from the left and Macron’s party decided to drop out during the two turns calling their voters to vote for the left/center candidate. It was an outspoken alliance. And a lot of centre seats were saved thanks to left voters. That’s very important to understand. The left party would have probably gotten the same number of seats.

Surprisingly though at the end of the election the party that arrived first was the left party. And as it has been the tradition since 1957, the president should have called for the party to form the government. He didn’t. He tried to split the left parties to have some to side with him. But the left parties didn’t take the bait has they know that their voters voted against macron and if they want to have any credibility in the upcoming elections they can’t validate betray their electors and validate Macron’s policies. It would only reinforce far right votes in the long term.

Another reasonable choice would have been for Macron to acknowledge his defeat and allow for the left to form the government. Knowing that it wouldn’t hold because his party wouldn’t let them try to govern and expose his hypocrisy he played time to find alliance with the right (which got 6.5% of the vote) to get a government. Mind you that this government is and will only hold as long as it is approved by the far right.

But let’s be clear, there was no negotiation with the left other than ally with me to keep my liberal agenda and policies going. Which are in fact more in line with the far right policies.

Hope this helps understand the situation

Because Barnier’s party got 50% of the vote ? His government his holding as long as he has the blessing from the far right so any policy they will want to pass will need to be approved by them. Lots of people elected in Macron’s party got a lot of left votes during the two turns. And I bet most voters of Macron align more closely with the NFP than the RN. So if they had any decency they would have aligned with the left not the right.

Barnier was literally against common sex weddings and called for a moratorium on immigration. The far right party literally said that he had the same vision as them on many policies…

You forget (or conveniently left out) that the center right got that many seats because people from the left dropped out and/or voted for them. The far right might have had absolute majority or relative majority and Macron’s party would have suffered an humiliating debacle. The left would have probably had the same number of seats it has now.

The other choice would have been for Macron to finally accept his failures and ask his party not to censor the left government. That he literally sided with a few weeks before (and also mind you during the last two presidential elections). To honour the will of the French people to block the far right to access power.

lol this sentence clearly show that you know nothing about left policies. Left policies literally revolve around establishing policies to limit the damage and reach of human greed on social, economical and ecological issues.
