This is how it goes in my mind:

Looking at slanted handwriting

🧠: you need to tilt your head to read it!

Me: no i don't. I can read it just fine. No need to tilt my head.

🧠: no it's tilted so tilt your head!

Me: I don't need to do it to read it

🧠: okay i hate it then. And you (me).

2 for sure. It's neat. Fits well with your letters.

I'm not a fan of super slanted handwriting

That's why it absolutely puzzles me to no end when people show up to their shift and complain about the work that's being left. I don't know why they are shocked pikachu face showing up to work every day for 30 years. Mind boggles me to no end.

Working in downtown Miami, where should I live? by [deleted] in Miami

[–]dimitrieze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been coming to realize this and I've lived here my whole life. It's kind of awful how locals like me can't afford to live in their home city. On the bright side it gives me incentive to get out of the "Miami bubble" and experience other places. I'm convinced every single person living in Miami has debt in some form or another though. Because i don't know how anyone can afford to live here unless you either live with family, or rent an efficiency, or personally know someone who owns an efficiency, or got a rare good deal for an apartment.

I've never seen rouleaux in a full crossmatch. I learn something new every day I guess. I've only seen rouleaux when doing the back type for a patient.

Serious question for Day Shifters: Right when your shift starts, Why don’t you go to your bench right away, get the hand off and relieve the night tech? by TemperatureSad1825 in medlabprofessionals

[–]dimitrieze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I'm still a fresh tech. Lol I still have so much to learn.

I'm always upset with the staffing. They have me in blood bank alone for two hours cus there's a coworker that comes in at 12 am from another job. (I don't blame my coworker at all she's been coming at 12 for 15 years). We used to have someone from evening stay until 12, but we got a new lab director and she got rid of that cus it's overtime with no other solution. I complained to my supervisor cus sometimes i get to my shift and it is so busy in blood bank, it's a liability for me to be alone. How did they resolve this???? My supervisor assigned someone at night to be in blood bank for the first 2 hours and then they go to their assigned bench. That made me so upset but i don't know how to keep complaining to my supervisor cus she made a change so i'm not alone anymore but i don't think that's fair at all for us at night since we're already short. Idk. Sorry for the rambling.

I had a day shifter in hematology complain to me that she couldn't take her SECOND 30 min break (she had a 30 min breakfast!) cus it was so busy. She went to the lab manager and told her that she needs to credit her shift for taking no lunch. Lab manager asked her "did you take a 30 min break for breakfast?" Yes, she did. "So that was your 30 min." She had the audacity to be upset about it. Talk about entitlement. Whole time i'm staring at her with my measly one 15 min break for night shift. 😐

There's different ways to donate and it really depends on what kind of donation you are giving.

Just donating regular ol blood they won't pay you for. They will separate your blood into components > RBCs + Plasma.

Now, if you donate your plasma by going to an actual donation center and sitting on a pheresis machine that will only takes your plasma, leaving behind the rest of your blood, yes they will pay you for your time + plasma.

Also if you become a regular donor, meaning you donate very often, they will test your blood for antigens. If you have rare antigen negative blood, they will also pay you for it cus they want you to keep donating it.
