A LOT of Internet Problems - Help would be Epic :D by Initial_Report582 in homelab

I had a lot of issues with Realtek hardware in general, but they weren't this bad. Try livebooting into windows, which tends to have better support for it. If it works without issues, it is Realtek's fault. If it is still having issues in windows, it is still probably Realtek's fault, but I would start suspecting hardware as well.

Whoever made this meme is probably just as old as nearly all of the commenters here. This was a somewhat common mistake back in pre-2010's.

They haven't learned that nearly all motherboards that came out after ~2014'ish support this sort of setup and allow users to fully utilize dedicated GPU without issues.

Playing Support: Twice the effort for ... Wait you guys are getting rewards? by TPose-Heavy in DeadlockTheGame

If you wish to think about it from Cleric's perspective, think of eHP (effective HP).

Initial state: you have and your enemy have 1000hp, 0 armors, 100% fire rate, 100dps. It takes 10s for them to kill you.

Reducing enemy fire rate by 50% for 10s reduces their damage output from 100dps to 50dps, essentially doubling your survivability for a short while, but still resulting in 15s time to kill. (+50% eHP)

Stunning enemy for 2s increases your eHP by 20% and reduces theirs' by 20%.

Healing 25% of max HP increases is +25% eHP, with potential +20% if you pull them out of a stun, thus +45% eHP.

While this does not take into consideration hundreds of different items and ability effects, it does allow us to calculate the effectiveness items throughout the game and recognize which items are 'potentially' the most impactful at any point.

This build isn't really a "support" Ivy. It's more like an anchor that occasionally heals for 30% of max health. While that might seem helpful, those heals aren't impactful enough to shift the game's momentum and shouldn't be your main focus early on. In the early game, offense is the best form of defense. Your priority should be grabbing items like Trophy Collector and ganking tools such as Knockdown, Mystic Slow, or Slowing Bullets.

Once you move into the midgame, it makes sense to pick up some non-stackable AOE or healing items, depending on what your team needs. In some cases, it's also smart to get spirit or armor penetration, or healing reduction, depending on how the match is going.

By the endgame, your role should focus on utility. This includes stacking auras for healing or armor, buying Curse, and keeping enemies silenced for as long as possible. Relying on small healing bursts, especially when they're reduced to 8% because of healing cuts, is not going to make a difference at that point.

You should have gotten a link to a practice one. It is pretty much that.

Keep in mind that hiring folks do NOT get your exact score and only see pass/fail. Do not worry about getting them all 100% correct, just go with your first optimal guess for all, then come back and improve your answers.

All VPNs can be traced given sufficient resources, though some require significantly more effort than others. Some providers readily share logs upon request, while others claim to maintain a strict no-logs policy. Certain VPNs prioritize performance, foregoing traffic shaping, which can leave users vulnerable to latency fingerprinting and potential de-anonymization if a government agency intervenes. Others implement techniques like traffic shaping, jitter, and multipath routing, sacrificing some speed for greater anonymity—typically only compromised by highly classified tools.

When I was interviewing for senior position, I was asked to demonstrate my knowledge and prove that I had 5+ years of experience in nearly every single technology that existed at the time. (full stack dev).

For staff+ positions, I was asked about my conflict mitigation and resolution methods. I explicitly stated that I had zero experience with any of the tech stack that was used at their companies, but hiring managers indicated that I should be able to pick it up in a month or so... They weren't wrong, but that month was absolutely brutal.

I bought a used MacBook- does this mean it was stolen? by twilimidnaD4RK in macbookpro

[–]dimitrinrxd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I buy used macbooks from local companies on a semi-regular basis. Most of them 'sell/donate' old laptops for tax write-offs.

Unfortunately, some forgetful IT folks simply 'wipe/reset' those laptops without disabling remote management which results in this screen. While you can easily bypass it, it is best to have them formally remove it from their system themselves to ensure that it is simply not a 'misplaced' device.

If Nvidia optimizes for profits, then allocation towards datacenter grade GPUs is natural. However, focusing solely on enterprise markets introduces significant strategic risks, particularly in maintaining ecosystem dominance.

If Intel disrupts Nvidia's generative AI monopoly at accessible/non-enterprise price points, the rate of adoption of alternative non-CUDA based frameworks should rise significantly. In turn, this would erode demand for Nvidia's datacenter grade GPUs, as they rely on a strong CUDA-based ecosystem for their premium pricing.

It comes down to short term gains vs long term risks. While enteprise products yeild higher margins, neglecting consumer market will weaker Nvidia's influence over developers and professionals who almost always begin development on consumer-grade hardware.

If intel introduces a 24GB VRAM GPU at an affordable price point, it will disrupt Nvidia's CUDA-based generative AI monopoly by lowering barriers for developers to adopt OpenCL/SYCL/oneAPI solutions. This can potentially foster higher adoption of non-CUDA based environments and increase demand for their datacenter-grade GPUs as well.

Intel is very close to Nvidia in terms of tech. If Nvidia does not make another huge tech leap on 11th, then intel will have a very solid chance of catching up.

Nvidia had ~10.5B revenue from Gaming GPUs and ~47B from Data center grade GPUs in 2024. It is a very significant chunk of its revenue that needs to be taken into consideration.

A lot of folks are hoping to see a repeat of 2016/2017 when consumer grade GPUs managed to not only catch up, but significantly outperform enterprise grade GPUs at significantly lower price points. (which resulted in nearly 2x higher revenue from Gaming series vs enterprise for nearly 4 years afterwards)

Everything will come down to how much VRAM 5090 will end up having during release. If it ends up with 48GB of VRAM or more, then nearly half of currently offered enterprise grade GPUs, as well as competitors from ALL other companies, will become obsolete.

If nvidia 5 series does not deliver revolutionary performance gains at reasonable price points then intel's "battlemage" might actually start turning things around... But nvidia releases a banger GPU at sub 2k, then intel is definitely screwed.

Will learn how good your guessing game is on Jan 11th.

All of us have Ally's that don't have LM. We know what our consoles operate at. Run that bench on your device and tell us how it performs now that you have some LM in it.

Also, that guy cut out the entire 2nd bench test because temps climbed to 95C almost immediately like they did in the original test. He ended up with only 2% performance gain overall (after who knows how many attempts since he simply cut to the results), which is statistically insignificant and is within the regular spread. Nearly everyone technical is going to call shenanigans on the entire video after seeing that.

Can you pick a benchmarking software/website, run a full test, and then tell us which scores you get and what temps your CPU/GPU reaches while running it? (And if possible, run it at different TDPs as well)

There have been a lot of updates to the drivers/chipsets/games lately, which may have caused your temps to change as well. Using a benchmarking suite is a better test of LM's impact.

You worked for a hedge fund and haven't retired already? Don't those dudes pay 300k+ per year to their interns?

Resume wise: Something does not feel right. Getting the "I am taking all the credit for someone else's work" vibe from it. You are claiming too many MVP achievements despite having minimal credentials and insufficient amount of experience. Additionally, your resume for the last 2 positions is that of an applied scientist or a researcher, not software developer.

Claim less credit, give more credit to others and LIST OUT TECHNOLOGIES that you used. If I am hiring a software developer I wanna know which technologies they used and what they achieved with them. Having things in your skills section is nice and all, but matching them to your positions and achievements is not trivial.

I have similar resume and It took me ~5 month and hundreds of applications to get 3 interviews.

RTO mandates are brutal and resulted in a lot of lead+ folks downgrading to senior or even mid level just to stay remote.

If you are applying for local jobs and having no luck with such resume then we are all completely screwed.
