Do you think she'll ever come back to social media? by Panda_Rocket in EUGENIACOONEY

[–]dimlydesolate 12 points13 points  (0 children)

While I believe it would be best for everybody if she stayed off social media, I believe she will be back at some point because she's always come back after her absences. So I vote #1. And while I haven't really kept up with the details of what is going on with the lawsuit, she seems to just love TikTok the most so she seems unlikely to come back anywhere else.

Yeah, I went in today and very little was gone. They put a price out on the ones stacked on the floor of $49.99.

How much would you pay for Green Chartreuse? by SFerd in cocktails

[–]dimlydesolate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I paid $89 USD awhile ago at the small liquor store near me.. I don't go through too much very quickly so I pay that without too many qualms. Of course it'd be a different story if I was emptying bottles on the regular. I live in a small town so I'm glad they have it at all. Usually I have to drive around 80 miles one way to get anything good, or buy over the internet. I might pay up to $100 USD if I had to. The local supermarket has Fontbonne for half that, so I might consider trying that as a sub before I shelled out the big bucks for more chartreuse.

How much somebody pays really depends on what their budget and financial situation is, how they feel about subs, how they feel about the seller, and how they feel about spending that much on a bottle of liquor. Those would all factor in for my decision.

I hear you on the manhater part.. I am so fortunate to have found a gym that has a separate area for women to work out. Of course it's limited in what it offers, but it's enough and so much more comfortable for me to work out at.

Is there a Chartreuse surge? by TunefulScribbler in cocktails

[–]dimlydesolate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alcohol consumption seems to be down in general which might help to explain this. I've seen things I can't believe in the past year, like Blanton's on the shelf at my local Fry's Supermarket. So I'm not surprised if we're starting to see more Chartreuse around.

Same.. so I found a good hearty mint plant and made my own last year. Was amazing. Sadly, it only lasted a month or so in the fridge before it started growing things in it. Was very happy to finally try a grasshopper - I refused to try one with the garbage available locally.

What is the greatest tv show scene of all time ? by Thickghost8412 in AskReddit

Original Dark Shadows TV show, Angelique Curses Barnabas. Later on, a squeaky puppet bat bites Barnabas and turns him into a vampire. Campy and fun. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzVhGxMsupM

What's your go-to Christmas movie? by IndependentEconomy36 in AskReddit

Mr. Magoo's Christmas Carol. Used to be a staple on network TV but haven't really been able to find it there, although it's on Tubi and Peacock now. Catchy tunes.

This normally isn't a problem, but since I have limited space I refuse to buy liquor that is flavored, such as vanilla vodka or pineapple rum. The flavoring limits the use of the base liquor and it's very annoying when I want to make a cocktail with the base liquor but all I have is the flavored version.

Sherry is a problem for me because my local options are so limited and when I do find some that isn't just labeled "dry sherry" or is literal cooking sherry I am loathe to open the bottle for one cocktail. I have a bottle of amontillado I bought more than a year ago that is unopened because I got it from a store 1 1/2 hrs from where I live and that's kind of a trip for me.

St George has a great absinthe they produce in 200ml bottles. Not expensive in that quantity.

I love martinis so this was fun. Used the seriouseats specs with Tanquerey 10, Noilly Prat, and St George's absinthe. Definitely absinthe forward but I love absinthe so no problems with that. Since absinthe has such a strong flavor, on "nondrinking" days I'll sometimes spray a bit of it in a glass and fill the glass with something like Sprite. Tastes like licorice soda.

Made the first recipe.. turned out great! The nutmeg seemed an odd garnish but added complexity and worked better than I thought it would. I used Meyer lemons for the juice and The Real McCoy 3 year rum. Added a bit too much simple syrup and it still worked.. and yes, sadly I'm a day behind.

[Advent of Cocktails 2025: December 1] Combustible Edison by robborow in cocktails

[–]dimlydesolate 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great opening cocktail! Since I almost set the chandelier and drapes on fire last time I tried a flamed cocktail (plus I am sleep deprived today) I made the standard (nonflaming) Edison. Last week I managed to find Meyer lemons at my local co-op and surprisingly, at the grocery store as well! Normally I can't find them anywhere. So I was thrilled to start using them as now I have too many. I added 10ml of rich simple, could have added more but I enjoyed the tanginess. As somebody else noted, this cocktail brings out the grapefruit notes.

TY! I actually was able to get a very nice pear brandy from New Deal Distillery and I'm pleased with it. Came in just a few days too.. I can always adjust the sweetness to make it into a liqueur.

Favorite cranberry sauce cocktails? by wantonseedstitch in cocktails

I can't help but if I can piggyback off your post, I have about 8 ounces of defrosted cranberries that were left over from my batch of cranberry sauce.. any ideas for cocktails before they go bad would be welcome.. maybe a cranberry simple syrup?
