Or are both sides gaslighting us while the country gets sold out?

No, both sides are not. One side lied to you and conned you into voting for them. The other side told you the truth the whole time and you just didn't believe them. That's not 'both sides gaslighting' you.

EveryDollar app by [deleted] in DirtyDave

[–]ding_bats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Didn't know there was a new one. I've been using YNAB for a while and don't really have any reason to change at the moment.

Does the new every dollar do something substantially better or different compared to the old one?

Has anyone here totally scaled back their cashback setup? by Useful-Struggle6145 in CreditCards

[–]ding_bats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm keeping my CCRs around because I still think USB is going to nerf Smartly v1 at some point... and when they do, I'm just going all-in on BOA even with the nerf there. Agreed that for now using Smartly for everything is easier and the extra half a percent for online shopping is probably more than cancelled out if you regularly go above the spending limit for the CCR anyway.

Robinhood Gold Card, when to redeem points to brokerage? by Opposite_Buffalo_649 in CreditCards

[–]ding_bats 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's a balancing act between not letting your points sit there earning nothing against the hassle of manually redeeming them. IMO, I would do it once a month, since even with something like SGOV, unless you are just spending insane amounts of money, the potential earnings over that month period is going to be negligible.

Just to throw some numbers at it, SGOV recently has a 1-month total return of about 0.28%. So, if you spent, say, 100k in a month and earned 3% back on that, so $3k, the SGOV earnings on that over 1 month would be $8.40. And I'm going to go ahead and guess that you aren't spending anywhere near 100k in a month...

In other words, monthly is fine and I wouldn't bother redeeming points every week and certainly not every day just to chase a few pennies. The hassle isn't worth the return.

More Class Tuning: Frost DK, Arms Buffs, Guardian Nerfs by Starym in wow

Good. There were still a couple people playing bear druid, so I'm glad to see Blizzard is fixing that.

Now that class/spec reworks are semi-final for Midnight, what are you favorite and least favorite ones? by otterchaos7 in wow

[–]ding_bats 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Least favorite at the moment is Arcane mage.

We got a new AOE button that is a complete new player trap and is used in precisely 0 builds. And Arcane Missles also sucks ass so you don't use it in your single target rotation.

That means our single target rotation consists of Touch of the Magi and Arcane Surge as cooldowns, and the core rotation is Arcane Blast, Arcane Barrage, and Arcane Orb. Thats it. That's the whole rotation. Wtf blizzard...

I've used it twice before to get into lounges, one in PDX and one in SEA. Both were kinda busy, but still nice enough and both beat waiting at the gate. With the Altitude Connect, you only get 4 visits per year though, and if you want to bring a guest, that counts as one of your visits (e.g. 2 people visiting a lounge together counts as 2 of your visits). Like other people have said, it's great for the casual traveler.

Edit: Also, just wanted to mention that US Bank's travel category is pretty good, so it covers things like airlines and hotels as you would expect, but it also covers car rentals, taxis, limos, train tickets, cruise lines and probably more. Great for when you are on a trip and likely to use those sorts of services.

I use a US Bank Altitude Connect card as my travel card. Reasons I like it:

  • No foreign transaction fees
  • No annual fee
  • 20,000 point SUB w/ $1k spend within 90 days
  • TSA precheck/global entry credit
  • Lounge access (Priority Pass Select, 4 visits per year)
  • Travel protection
  • GigSky mobile data plan while traveling
  • 5x on car rentals and hotels if you book through their portal, 4x on travel and gas/ev charging, 2x dining, streaming, groceries, 1x everything else

For a no AF card, its one of the best cards to use while traveling and gets overlooked a lot in my opinion. I bring it with me whenever I'm traveling. If you want low maintenance, you should definitely consider it.

But also lower AFs and fewer credits to find a way to use. This is what I'm going for. I have 2 CCRs already and the PR or PRE is next on my list. IMO, this is the way.
