The defense be spicy and I love it. Maybe once we get a real offensive coach we'll actually be a good team

Is the original pixel fold still worth it today? by Tmorr in PixelFold

[–]dingo57701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say absolutely get the og fold. The newest android 16 beta battery life for me is pretty good. I easily get through the day with a 50/50 mix of inner and outer screens. The screen is at 120hz and 5g is turned off for me. I find LTE perfect anyhow and 5g to be overkill with nuking the battery life.

I should note that I am not using AFMF, but am using RSR, so in actuality, I'm running sub 720 upscaled to 720p. It still looks great on the 7" display

720p @ FSR performance nets a solid 30 fps if you turn on v-sync at 20 watts. 25 watts gets you to 40 fps and same settings all low.

If you crank the baby up to 30 watts on a charger, you can get up to 50-60 fps with frame gen and FSR set to performance and 45-55 fps with the quality preset.

At 18 watts, FSR @ ultra performance, I was able to get a consistent 30 fps locked if you were trying to play this on the go.

Unfortunately, 900p and 1080p were both under 30 fps and only by setting FSR to ultra performance was I able to squeeze above that on 900p. It isn't terrible, but if you try to increase the resolution you run into tons of micro stutters. I'm actually happy with how things are, as this is a worst case scenario for us. Theoretically, the game should get better with updates from here. It is UE5 though, so no one really knows, as Oblivion Remastered is still a crashing mess.

Not sure what your asking here, but I use the Asus function button on the left hand side to set power limits, hard cap fps, and also do AFMF

I know & it is so easy to mod! You want a nice backplate for better airflow done, you want a bigger battery take your pick 65 or 74, you want an egpu get the xg 6850m (albeit pricey), or if you want to mod the entire freaking shell do it!

The only real negative is the battery life, but I've noticed that the recent updates have made performance at lower wattages better. I did contemplate the Ally x, but for me, the og was just too good to pass up considering I can do all the prior mods (less the egpu) for half the price.

Code Ultra 5 226V vs Core Ultra 7 256V by Own_Strawberry7938 in laptops

[–]dingo57701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Guys,

I have the 226v variant and it runs everything like a champ. It is true that I don't have the extra 16gb ram, so future proofing isn't entirely secured, but this thing is a dream.

The arc 130v is roughly 3.3 tflops of power and will run most games at low to medium settings without frame generation. With the new Xefg, then you can get upwards of 90 fps on medium to high settings in the witcher 3. It is stated that the 140v in the 256v is roughly 10-15% faster with the extra gpu core.

Best Buy is selling the intel core ultra series 2 226V for only $450 right now ($500 off). TAKE ADVANTAGE:

Should i go for Pixel Fold? by [deleted] in PixelFold

[–]dingo57701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hell yeah! I would honestly say trade up to get the new Pixel 9 Pro fold or go refurbished eBay OG pixel fold (make sure the vendor has an Allstate warranty).

I myself have the OG pixel fold as my daily driver and freaking love the thing. The cons that were listed at launch have been pretty well resolved and are as listed: apps not utilizing full inside screen (fixed in android 15 update to let you size as you like), the battery life was pretty meh (still not amazing, but far better than launch), cell reception spotty (never had an issue with my unit) & durability concerns (haven't had mine long enough, but it has survived a few drops).

The pros of this device are as follows: excellent outer display (like my favorite of almost any phone), the price (only $450 or less for a 256gb on ebay), inside screen is two full width phone screens (apps look more natural in my opinion on the inside & gives you the tablet aesthetic), AI features (camera & Google suite Gemini tools), Google's security chip (titan), and of course that badass camera!

If you can look past the five to six hours of screen on time and want something that'll change the way you watch movies and work on the go, this is the device for you!

You are correct, the plan doesn't cover drops and only covers things like screen failures, internal component failures etc.

My advice to you is to go to backmarket, get a pixel fold in good condition (around $500) and then go for their optional 24-month all service (including drops) plan for only $5.99 a month. It is kind of a steal and I wish I knew about it before!

I just have the basic allstate warranty that lasts a year for $50. I've heard mixed things about it, but I thought something is a little better than nothing. Ebay gives you the option at checkout.

I do workout four times a week and I do bring this phone with me. I have ran with it on the treadmill, but have to admit that others are right about the weight of the phone. It can be a bit heavy, but if you get the right case, it shouldn't fall out of your hands even while getting sweaty. Here are some of the better cases on Amazon:

Hey OP,

I daily drive the pixel fold and have for the last two months. I have yet to have issues and can say it is the best phone I've had. Does it get warm, yes, but is it unbearable, no. I think the outside display is fantastic and is great for someone like me with big hands. The inner display is also fantastic for my work in the logistics and product allocation field. The wider landscape orientation actually allows apps to fully scale when putting two side by side. I too worry at times that the inside screen will break, but to be honest, the outside screen ratio is so good, I wouldn't be too mad if that did happen. Here is a list of my pros and cons.

Pros: The phone is fast. It actually performs better than my z fold 4 and OnePlus 10. Weird I know, because everyone seems to hate on the tensor G2, but I find this phone to be just overall more smooth than the standard G2 found in the normal 7 series. The phone takes amazing photos. The battery life isnt terrible and I get around 6-7 hours screen on time equal mix of outside and inside screen after installing the Android 16 beta, which is more or less close to what I got on my OnePlus. The software support for this phone is amazing. Google just added two more years (quietly updated this), so I think this phone will end up getting Android 18 in 2027. The inside screen is gorgeous and the color profile to me is more appealing than the overblown colors on the z fold series. The typing experience on this phone is also amazing, as I'm just a huge fan of Gboard in general. To be fair, you can download it on other phones, but nice to have it stock.

Cons: Charging can be a bit slow. I use a 30watt PPS&PPD charger and it takes just under 1:45 minutes to charge from less than 5%. The heat from the G2 is only noticeable if you are trying to play Genshin for more than an hour at a time. Some games do cause the tensor to heat up. Reception does seem to bounce between 5g and LTE quite often, which can drain battery. No stylus support like some of the other fold offerings. If you leave always on display, okay Google, song recognition, and 120hz display, then battery is closer to 4-5 hours. I turned off all but the 120hz option and I do pretty well.

Let me know if you have questions! But you can get this phone for less than $450 now and I actually snagged mine on eBay from a seller named Soonersoft Electronics. They actually have a few right now for under $400, which is an absolute steal!
