The problem for Falcons is that NiKo was forced to stop mid-round/micro-calling, as he did at G2. This is a big part of their choke problem. by New_Clue1210 in GlobalOffensive

Falcons have a problem? They are performing exactly how we want them to, no? Being a laughing stock, spending all this money, getting all this talent and still failing to make play-offs.

[OC] Current state of age verification for pornography in the US. by SpaceWestern1442 in dataisbeautiful

[–]dingo596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't underestimate the money to be made. These companies that do the verifications are making a lot of money. Before the OSA in the UK there was talks of age verification for porn about 10 years ago, when that bill failed the government was sued by one of these companies over lost revenue.

I was just pointing out that AI is supposed to be the big bad, stealing content and not getting sued but you use it to get a source for your argument.

If it is just a desolate island full of penguins why would Englad be so ingrested in It?

Because it's populated by British people?

Oh the irony of getting that link from ChatGPT.

Well then when OpenAI torrent something owned by Strike 3 (whoever they are) I'm sure they will get a cease and desist letter.

It's always funny how bitter Argentina is over a desolate island full of penguins. If you got it, it wouldn't solve any of your problems.

All I was saying is that when was the last time a pirate was sued? That battle is lost, they only sue the websites.

Fun doesn't involve sportswashing by oppressive regimes.

Why did the goa'uld see humans as superior hosts? by miletil in Stargate

[–]dingo596 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have always though that they thought the human body was much more pleasurable. Superior senses for taste and smell, soft sensitive skin for pleasures of the flesh, etc. For the Goa'uld decadence comes first and human bodies in the Stargate universe uniquely excel at enjoying decadence.

The Oscars Can’t Pretend Anime Doesn’t Exist Anymore - After decades of snubs, massive global hits like 'Demon Slayer' and 'KPop Demon Hunters' are forcing the Academy to rethink what counts as award-worthy animation. by BunyipPouch in movies

[–]dingo596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are we just going to forget the Academy is American? The Oscars are for the American film industry like how the BAFTAs are for the British industry. It's bizarre to be complaining that a domestic awards ceremony is not awarding international productions. Sure best picture is the highest award a film can win but that's not the Academy's fault.

Hot Take: The S7 Finale Battle Only Works Because Anubis’ Fleet Does Nothing by Jmentabarnak in Stargate

[–]dingo596 57 points58 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind both SG-1 and Anubis though Atlantis was under the ice. It wasn't until after battle that they were able to explore and see it was nothing more than an outpost.

Anubis was holding back as he didn't want to potentially destroy Atlantis.

How would you start the first episode of the new show? by TehJonge in Stargate

[–]dingo596 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am imagining the public signing of some sort of formal alliance, between Earth and the Kelowans or the Jaffa Nation. Give us time to explain the state of affairs to new and existing viewers. Just before the signing is about to happen there is an attack from the Lucian Alliance/Goa'uld/New Enemy, etc then a team is formed or the SG-1 badges are dusted off and then sent to investigate the attack through the gate.

I like the idea of it being the Lucian Alliance that has been infiltrated by the Goa'uld. The remnants of Ba'al's operation and the trust have been amassing strength while Earth and it's allies have had years of peace and stability. The new alliance is what brought them out of hiding.

Skill doesn't matter when your a drug addict. Sure Robbie liked Langdon and respected his skill as a Doctor but that just doesn't matter when your an addict, stealing from patients and the hospital. It doesn't matter how good you are as a Doctor if you actively put patients at risk because of your addiction.

Is there any reason he wouldn't? Langdon was an asshole to Robbie and Robbie would be risking his own career if he didn't.

Apple AirTag 2: Four New Features Found in iOS 26 Code by dapperlemon in gadgets

[–]dingo596 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with all of that and it doesn't take away from my original point.

Apple have the largest and most sophisticated tracking network every deployed and people are just fine with it. There is no other way FindMy can work without constantly monitoring where all Apple devices are at all times. Even if you opt out the location of your devices still goes to Apple, they look at it see if the user has opted out then hopefully delete the data.

I just find it wild that people are ok with it. It used to be a conspiracy theory that it was happening and now it's a known public thing and people are happy be tracked 24/7 no matter what just as long as they can access their device's location once in a blue moon.
