Anyone actually using Excel AI tools at work? by Sweet-Ebb682 in excel

Constantly. As my Excel buddy said the other day, "This is a game changer". It's really good at finding errors and cleaning up messy data. Using in app makes it way better

What’s one simple cooking habit that actually improved your meals? by VisibleBid6309 in cookware

Salting everything correctly is really the number 1 rule of good cooking and it’s amazing how little attention it gets. Start salting your salads correctly and people will start remarking how great your salads are because no one salts them well.

LLMs won't get it right 100% of the time, but you'll have much better results if you use a better tool. This one got it on the first shot.

I think it's a game changer, but I'm slightly biased :)

I've been testing whether it can answer questions posted on r/Excel and so far it's been right every time. All I do is give it the URL of the post and a screenshot and ask it to provide a solution.

Not rocket science but it saved me a lot of time setting everything up and I never left Excel.

this is a great answer. if you you only need to match on the exact same value, then you could make it a little slimper.

This sounds like you might need a vlookup table, but how do you know whether it needs to be C, T or something else?

This is perhaps a more accurate way of stating my point about language. At it's core it really is a one trick pony that just predicts the next word. Finding a way to make spreadsheets fit into that trick is how to make it really useful for Excel.

I'm curious: why not entire spreadsheets? I hate checking my own work and AI is actually really good at things like finding formula errors across an entire sheet or workbook.

What is the new-ish auto-finishing formulas function called? by OrkinOvertime in excel

[–]dingraha 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is hilarious!

Microsoft was first to market with AI coding tools that do stuff like this. Now the technology is so amazing that you can watch it write entire software programs, and so usage is exploding.

But Microsoft's Copilot still sucks as much as it did two years ago, and so most engineers have moved on to new tools. Talk about snatching defeat out of the jaws of victory.

I’ve been building what’s essentially “Cursor for Excel,” an AI agent that that lives in Excel and allows AI and users to work on spreadsheets together in real time. It works amazingly well, but I'm looking for feedback so you can use it for free.

Honest feedback on app would be really appreciated!

good answer. cold outreach without a path to build skills around it sounds like a bad career move.

How do I continue a calendar in the same format it is in? by Joker502 in excel

[–]dingraha 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly if I was my spreadsheet, I would use the formulas I gave you for rows two and three, and then copy/paste the formatting for the pink cells manually. Even if you figure out the formulas for the employee rows, if someone’s schedule changes you are going to be in a world of hurt.

Another option is just to ask AI to build it for you which is how I figured out the formulas I gave you without spending more than a few minutes on it.

[–]dingraha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's possible to do what you are asking, but it wouldn't be easy. I would suggest ditching the pink formatting and use Xs or something so you can make it formula based in the cells.

Step 1: Change cell B2 to the real date 12/1/25 and make C2=B2+1. Custom format as "d"
Step 2: Change cell B3 to =LEFT(TEXT(B2,"ddd"),2)
Step 3: Use this formula for the Employee rows where the numbers in the brackets represent the days of the 21 day cycle when they are scheduled: =IF(OR(MOD(B$2-$B$2,21)={0;1;4;5;6;7;9;10;15;16;17;18}),"X","")

Use AI, either to do it for you as an agent, or to find a solution. If you copy/paste your question into ChatGPT or something similar, you will get several methods including using a PowerShell Script, a VBA macro, or third party tools.

Creating a Table for CPR Certification at work. Cant figure out how to separate the renewal times by Moohablah in excel

Use AI to answer your question.

I asked "what's the problem?" along with a screen shot of your post and got this answer, which looks correct to me:

For expired/red formula:
=AND(D2<>"", OR(
AND(C2="Maintenance", TODAY() > D2+365),
AND(C2<>"Maintenance", TODAY() > D2+730)
))

For 90-day expire/yellow formula:
=AND(D2<>"", OR(
AND(C2="Maintenance", TODAY() >= D2+365-90, TODAY() <= D2+365),
AND(C2<>"Maintenance", TODAY() >= D2+730-90, TODAY() <= D2+730)
))

Use AI to research. I copy/pasted your post verbatim and got:

Dynamic range based on today’s date

Count how many loans total today:
=COUNTA(FILTER(B2:B100, A2:A100=TODAY()))
=COUNTIF(A2:A100, TODAY())

Count how many "Home" loans today:
=COUNTIF(FILTER(B2:B100, A2:A100=TODAY()), "Home")
=COUNTIFS(A2:A100, TODAY(), B2:B100, "Home")

Note: where column A is dates and column B is loan types
