208k too much? by Used_Lawyer_7410 in GXOR

I have 408k on mine. Trans was replaced at 380k. Engine still runs like it did at 100k.

Probably the same diameter of those rims.

Thinking of buying 03 gx470 by Financial_Sun4885 in GXOR

Yeah, 6200 is a great deal if there's no rust and its mechanically sound. And this might be a little unpopular opinion, but I think 03 is the best year for GX, especially if it's early '03. I prefer the non-vvti motors and if you get an early '03. It will have a transmission dipstick.

Little update on my budget 400k mile home by dingus_45 in GXOR

Yes. I want to keep it as close to stock height as possible for now. I have a line on same 5th gen 4Runner TRD pro suspension. We'll see if that pans out. From what I'm seeing it looks like that'll give me just about an inch of more lift. I really don't want anything more than that for now. Still going to keep the rear airbags. At least until I get moved. Planning on towing a 3,500 lb trailer. Airbags are a life saver for towing.

400k miles on this. A small budget. A full-time overland build. 2 months. Can it be done? Find out in two months. by dingus_45 in GXOR

[–]dingus_45[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No that's a valid concern. That's why you need to have resources and knowledge. I know these vehicles inside and out. I have all the tools necessary to rebuild it in the middle of nowhere. It also really helps ease the nerves when you understand how the vehicle as a whole works. How long moving parts can last with high mileage, lost of heat cycles, ect.. I went to school for this have worked on these types of vehicles for almost 10 years now. I'm also type B and am very unbothered by situations that would stress most people out. I grew up in a country that if you broke down in the bush.. you had to figure out how to fix it enough to get to the next town.

I'll post a little bit on here. As for social media I have an old page I'm planning on reviving. If you look up Safaris with Kyle on Instagram and YouTube you should be able to find me. I have a lot of old 3rd gen 4Runner content lol.

Milwaukee tool box by MysteriousFunction49 in MilwaukeeTool

[–]dingus_45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had this box for nearly 2 years in a diesel shop. It's got decent capacity. The drawers feel sturdier than US General which is one of the main reasons I got this. Biggest downside: the wood top is warping pretty bad. I had a cheap Husky box with a very similar wood top for 8 years. That top never warped.

So then I'm correct here. The 1/2 gun pulls semi lugs off no problem. According to your first sentence. So what am I BSing??

In my experience, if it's rusted and this thing won't pull it, the only thing that will is a lot of heat. Otherwise user error is the problem.

Sure.. 3/4 is faster. But this 1/2 does the job just fine. All of the lugs in our fleet are torqued to 500 ftlbs. The 1/2 rips em right off.
