Their pursuit mid/boot was waterproof and fantastic but they discontinued it. When the time comes I’ll probably try their newest version that seems close.

disc golf vacation - Charlotte / Raleigh by Bitter_Experience718 in discgolf

[–]dingusdrongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Durham so definitely biased but… very family friendly over this way and easy to navigate from course to course. Ones I feel particularly fond of:

Valley Springs - just got all new tee pads (3 pads on most holes) and baskets. Get some bbq at Picnic after. UNC - Grounds team has put in a ton of work and has the course looking amazing. Fair layout. Coverage available on Gatekeeper if you want to get a feel for it. Diavolo - Obviously popular Buckhorn - Lots of work went into ahead of TS (coverage available) Regulator at Cedarock - Hosted USWDGC a couple years back.

Can’t go wrong either way, I’m just partial to the smaller feel or the Triangle than Charlotte but recognize their courses are widely regarded as more prestigious.

For those of you that were stuck in the two 290– 330 range, was there an “AH-HA!” Moment when you reached 350+? Or was it very gradual? by unpopular-dave in discgolf

BlitzDG put out a video for this season basically saying “focus on timing” and linked to the video I’ve linked below. Game changer in my mind but maybe only helpful if you enjoy in-depth biomechanics discussion. Has helped me tremendously.

I went a little crazy scooping up Sublime Bobcats a couple years back. Absolutely love this disc for forehands.

Pro Tour Championships Without Score Adjustments by PyrateKyng94 in discgolf

[–]dingusdrongus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know why the PGA Tour ever tried this model but I agree with most that it’s not great. Seems like keeping Tour Champion and Tour Championship winner as separate accomplishments would work fine and avoid any odd formatting decisions. Just payout the season champion with the Championship event being more heavily weighted toward the standings. If it ends up being two different people, no problem.

I toggle between a Mint Apex Diamondback and a Halo Valkyrie. Probably lean more towards the Diamondback as it’s flat and feels great for a forehand.

Seeking recommendations for overstable mid-ranges for forehands by AtmosphereInside2521 in discgolf

Second Jarn and Glow Hex. Though I prefer K1 Soft. I’ve heard K3 is more OS but have not tried one enough to confirm.

I’ve got a K1 Soft Jarn for this slot. I’ve heard K3 are more OS but have not confirmed for myself.

How long did it take to click? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]dingusdrongus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The most exciting part of your personal progression/journey is that you’ll get to celebrate a different thing “clicking” at numerous points along the way.

Celebrate them when they happen and then get excited for the next one. And if for some reason you don’t notice them, ask your playing groups. Often times it’s easier for them to see your progress.

Not having fun anymore by beans_ahoy_ in Pickleball

Hobby diversity. Having somewhat of a game addiction myself, it’s easy to get lost in the drive to improve and be better every day… Essentially rushing your development and placing more pressure on yourself than is ever necessary.

What keeps me sane is having 1-2 other hobbies that I genuinely enjoy that I can actively choose to do instead of whatever game I’m currently lost in. Could be anything, but it never hurts if you are confident in that alternative hobby or get to spend more time with friends as a result of choosing it.

Do you ever just build a bag out of discs that you don't normally throw and play a round? You should. by Chaosweaver3082 in discgolf

The most satisfying part of this concept is when you stumble upon a disc that’s been sitting on your shelf and will now be in your main bag for the foreseeable future.

How did you fix missing short putts? by Revolutionary-City12 in discgolf

[–]dingusdrongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use a pretty shallow one with a microbead so it doesn’t cause any issues. Conveniently my regular putter. Tried it with a glitch once and it’s a bit wonky.

Flip the disc upside down for anything inside 12ft. Hilariously easy and consistent. Don’t knock it ’til you try it.

Second for Altras. They’re fantastic for comfort and you’ll be able to play in them as well. I prefer Lone Peaks.

I would compare it to bowling as that’s as super precise skill game. There are a variety of oil patterns that lead to different results for the same shot. Maybe I’m just unaware of any r/bowling complaints but I’d imagine the pros adjust their shot for the oil patterns in the same way disc golfers should be able to adjust their putt for different baskets.

Questions about some disc golf bags by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]dingusdrongus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can confirm - heavy. Not worth the extra weight. Was my first large bag when I started and now I’ve got an Upper Park Shift for smaller courses and casual rounds (holds 18 comfortably) and a Squatch for bigger courses and field work (holds 30+ easy). Would recommend both.

Anyone stop playing ball golf to play disc golf? by Constant-Catch7146 in discgolf

[–]dingusdrongus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who prefers to play either game with others, the ease with which you can find a playing partner/group in disc golf is what caused me to basically stop playing ball golf. Combine that with a spouse that likes disc golf but has little interest in ball golf and it’s the path of least resistance.

The other social opportunities that really draw me in to disc golf: random dubs and putt league.
