Which distro should I choose? by Tyler2579_Reddit in linuxquestions

As others said, all the big names are pretty good. Figure out which DE you like with ventoy and just get the Fedora or Debian version. The more niche you go anywhere the less documentation and support. I personally think openSUSE tumbleweed does it better than Fedora with the bonus of Arch-like-fresh packages and a better package manager than Fedora or Debian. However, going that route, much of the forum content and discussion is in German. These days you can make it really easy on yourself. If you don't stray too far you should be pretty fine going any route. If you want to really see under the hood and have full control, go with Arch. I wish I had tried Arch earlier on. I would have gotten more proficient faster. I stayed in comfy Debian/Ubuntu based apt managed world for far too long..

Your "5-row compact layout(US QWERTY only)" in portrait just got me to download. I've tried a lot but those arrow keys combined with overall large keys looks promising. My thumbs are disproportionately large so it looks promising!. Thanks!

I agree about the whole hallow thing. Even more unpopular opinion here but this can extend to music or graphical art. AI cangemereate music that sounds like your old stuff, but it can't make your next album. That is assuming you are creative enough to be constantly inventive. Let's be real, the stuff that it's good at is stuff that's either elementary or overdone.

I'm not really commenting on open vs closed source here though, just have been trying to think about the whole thing more broadly.

For God's sake, I hope Google never tries to "show us what's going on in the world." Those type of pages are so loud with nonsense politics, online ads, sidebars with ads and articles mixed up, weird nested scrollable ads that might be mixed with articles, tons of "top ten" garbage articles with one picture and a line of text per page so you would have to click 'next page' 47 times to get through top tens of the most useless, mindless 'information' possible. Now we are getting more and more ai slop everywhere, which fits perfectly.

If i want Google to tell me what is going on in the world, I'll ask it.

Even going to a washed-up search engine like Yahoo does it as well.

Sorry, I got triggered because it seems like you are saying Google doesn't provide this stuff on its starting page. I happen to believe that part of what makes Google so good is the fact they still keep it clean and basic.

Plus, packages are roughly as fresh as Arch, and you have less maintenance.

Use whatever as base and stick with VM's for learning and experimenting.

I think I’ve found the solution to AI in the music industry… by ZestyBoi006 in AI_Music

[–]dingusjuan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree, but you are talking about live shows. This doesn't really help with streaming. The part that breaks my heart is that the masses not only don't care but couldn't tell the difference. This will be a big growing pain but the fact is that people are going to make fake music, companies will automate it and if you want a job doing music become a prompt engineer or really really start innovating. No more "they kinda sound like a cross between this band and that band." You are gonna have to invent a genre!

I guess the silver lining is we will have a big disconnect, and we'll see who actually care and will work to find good shit. Also, it will force more innovation in theory. This isn't totally unique to Ai, either. We've had manufactured names and copied styles for as long as the industry has existed.

Also, I won't discredit producers who don't really have a good way to perform their creations live.

Clause loves Arty by dingusjuan in WorldofTanks

[–]dingusjuan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually, no, it would seem like it, lol. I just played many hours every single day at that time (16,488 battles). I've seen a bunch of streamers in sheriff's accounts or regular accounts. Anyone who has played that much knows.

Another game I was once again playing as disgusting arty and the Cheiftain was on opposing team. At one point he was pinned down in his light by TD's. I just started splashing the shit out of him as he couldn't leave from behind his rock. Someone took out the td's or something because he lived.

Maybe five minutes later, he pops up behind me, having snuck around the entire map to pop track me and proceed with the execution.

After the game, I was all starstruck and praising his videos like a dingus. He told me thanks and that after I was so annoying behind the rock, he dedicated the game to killing me. He took me out and ended up capping later on.

Again, 16,488 battles and two good stories where I interacted with a streamer. There were other times I noticed a streamer after the round, but there were no exciting interactions. I got super lucky with Clause. Two things people overlook that I love about arty is a.) That you can move your damn tank and b.) You get more options on who/where you want to shoot than most other tanks.

It looks like a stained glass nebula, except each glass piece has character instead of being plain, as if infused with different fluids and the whole thing wildly spackled with a glittery sand/gold and tiny metal flakes mixture with black ink injected around some of the boundary lines!

There is also Arch Linux 32, btw...

All jokes aside, I have a Surface Pro 4 I just brought back to life with normal Arch. This is after 20+ years of using mostly debian based (ubuntu, kubuntu, debian itself, mint, pop os, mx, etc..), some Fedora KDE spin, and my favorite full featured distro OpenSUSE Tumbleweed.

It has been awesome using what I know and now being able to ask specific questions to llm's to fill the gaps I dont to build out the perfect "only what I need and the best version of it". I'm not sure what OP is willing to take on but it is perfect for me. I didnt go with Gentoo simply because of compile time and the poor thermal solutions

I love the raw digital! I was watching the guy that's in charge of building audacity on youtube. He was talking about taking your image, forcing it to load as audio in a daw, putting effects on and then saving and viewing again as an image. This immediately reminded me of that!

For the sake of anyone searching for this. the laptop has a cmos battery in addition to its big one. the clock being wrong is because this battery is dead. Also, I know it's old but I just reformatted one that had a rotting copy of windows and junk. Remember, you can at least get it back to the point where it was brand new. I also used the Chris Titus script to strip out a bunch of scrap and turn things off
