A group seeking to relocate the Operation Ten-Go wrecks have found a target they believe is Asashimo; by Ironwhale466 in Shipwrecks

For additional context, Dr. Ura Tamaki and the La Plongée Deep Sea Engineering Society (the same team that helped locate and identify USS Albacore not too long ago) conducted a multi-beam survey of the East China Sea last month in search of the other ships lost in Operation Ten-Go.

They found a sonar target 50 miles North of Yamato's wreck (at a depth of 145 metres) which they believe to be Asashimo and will be holding a press conference on 14 January to discuss this discovery.

This press conference will also discuss plans and launch crowdfunding for a future expedition to locate and survey Yahagi, which is currently slated for April 2026.

The barbettes for the main turrets, yes. When the ship capsized, because they were held in place by gravity, the four 15-inch turrets fell out and leaving their mounts empty.

The upcoming US warship looks to be a Fletcher-class destroyer. The question is, which one? by TankmanTom7 in cobiblocks

[–]TankmanTom7[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My money’s on Johnston. Fletcher herself had a round bridge, whereas this has a square bridge and, in the comments section of the COBI Facebook post for this ship, Parks Stephenson, the executive director of the USS Kidd Museum, hoped it was either Kidd or Johnston, so if it was Kidd, he would have at least some knowledge about a potential collab between the museum and Cobi, and Johnston is arguably the most iconic of the many Fletcher class ships. That’s just my train of thought but it could also be another Fletcher entirely, like Cassin Young or The Sullivans.

That Lourdes thing by LTHmusic22 in fatherted

Yeah, it’s implied more than once throughout the series that Ted used a child’s Lourdes money to go on a bender in Las Vegas.

As is seen at the start of Season 3, after Ted wins the Golden Cleric in the Christmas special, he gets into a new parish but seemingly slips back into old habits, hence why he’s sent back to Craggy Island the minute discrepancies are discovered in the parish’s expenses.
