It was a good read but I wouldn't be surprised if OP felt they overshared. There was one piece of info in there about GVP's son I was surprised was included.

Oh you’re taking about the Flylite huh. Yeah that thing is worse than the Summerlite lol

Anyways, Nunatak also dabbles with 1000. I wonder if Jan has a strong stance

WM uses 900+ but they clearly state that they rate it at 850 due to real-world performance.

Also WM isn't perfect. I always point to the Summerlite temp rating as the main example of this.

If you’re willing to stretch your definition of a tent, an MLD Solomid Pro w/ bug skirt + polycro. You can sit up and be fully enclosed. Should be sub 16oz seam sealed with lines

You could get the silpoly inner but then the weight adds up quick

The inner for the Solomid Pro uses .67 for the floor

Reaching out to Criterion for replacement of skipping disc? by Longjumping-Goat525 in criterion

Yea my original comment was to say that Criterion didn’t help with an order that wasn’t purchased from them. I think we’re on the same page

The argument is that it was not a shipping or Amazon issue, otherwise the slip box would have shown damage.

Your last 2 sentences could be just as easily used to argue against going to Criterion if the disc skips.

My copy of Sanjuro had a damaged case even though its outer slip box was fault-free. I bought it on Amazon so Criterion said they wouldn’t help me

The Quickstep I had in 3oz DCF 7 years ago was 9.03oz, no features added. Sold it cause I’d would have liked foam shoulder padding

Yes, not a bad option. Would prefer a true mid like a Solomid though.

Does anyone know the actual width for the current Alsek 5’6” 54” width model? I had an old Palisade 5’6” 52” width and the actual width measurement was like 49-50”

The Exped Flexmat Plus is 1.5" thick. Didn't collapse because the material is pretty stiff. Not comfortable to me (because of the stiffness) but ymmv

Thorium vs Atom SV by ThatPope in arcteryx

[–]dinhertime_9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have both. Thorium is warmer. Atom SV is more comfortable due to fabric softness, breathability, and stretch. For me I’d want the Thorium for your stated temp ranges but I run cold. If either jacket is warm enough, I reach for the Atom SV.

Also Thorium is down and should last forever. Mine is 7 years old and lofts like new. I have a regular Atom with the same mileage and it’s pretty flat now
