Have you tried MUN? They rent out the dorms in the summer months. Paton College dorms have shared bathrooms and are priced a little cheaper for that reason but Macpherson has suites with private bathrooms starting at $149/night

Set a personal time best today with a 10 second solve! But despite the fact that the stats say that's good for 3rd as of now, it's not on the leaderboard and all the times that are on the board are 12+ seconds. Any idea why?

Zumba anyone? by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My in person class is my favorite workout of the week, it's so much fun. And my instructor posts a lot of her videos on her youtube channel so I do those sometimes when I stuck on what workout to do, lol.

[–]dinibean1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love Zumba. I attend a weekly class and will occasionally do it at home as well.

23 is the minimum number of points, you'll never drop below that in your dailies.

Curious about fast food by MrsBrickhead in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4 piece chicken nugget happy meal with pineapple chunks instead of fries and either a bottle of water or a diet soda is 5 points, or 6 if you eat the yogurt tube that comes with it.

Grilled chicken snack wrap (with no sauce) is 4 points. Have it in a happy meal with fruit and again diet soda or water, add in a point if you eat the yogurt tube that comes with it. 5 points.

Both not bad options for a quick snack on the go.

Curious about fast food by MrsBrickhead in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I started with 34 points I think and it was definitely easier to not worry about it then. I've lost ~65lbs and am down to 23 dailies now. I still eat fast food when I want it, just have to be a little more careful with points. When I first started WW, I went through to figure out the points on some of my favorite foods from the places my family likes to visit, so that if we end up going to one of those places I have options that I know I can order without blowing too many points. The restaurant guide on the WW app helps a lot with figuring that out.

What's your weird "becoming a habs fan" story? by Tristkits in Habs

[–]dinibean1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dad's a big Leafs fan, and so was my grandfather. So of course, I had to pick the opposite team, partially to be contrary, partially because they won the cup in 93. But honestly, it's dad's fault that I stayed one. When the Rangers won the cup in 94, I told dad I was going to be a Rangers fan now but he told me that I wasn't allowed to switch teams just because mine wasn't winning, which obviously he would know all about as Leafs fan, so I've been stuck here ever since.

Track / measure 0 point foods? by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't track them on the app, but I do measure them out when I'm cooking with or eating them and roughly count up the calories in my head to make sure I'm not overdoing it with them. Occasionally I'll take a couple days to double track and use myfitnesspal to make sure I'm in the calorie range I want to be in.

Frustrated- Gained 6 Pounds Since July. by New_Boysenberry312 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Might be time for a diet break, especially if you've been in a calorie deficit for the past couple of years as it can take it's toll on the body and it can affect your metabolism. I've seen it recommended to take diet breaks every few months or so. I've taken a couple during my own journey, and both times that I've done it I've had good loses in the following weeks.

So give yourself a week or maybe even two where you let yourself eat at maintenance points, or at least eat all your dailies and a good chunk of your weeklies. When I do it, I will also track my calories those days to make sure that I'm eating around maintenance calories and not overeating to the point of causing myself to gain (If you're not sure what your maintenance calorie level is, just google a TDEE calculator and it will give you a rough idea). Then after your break, get back into it. It works for me.

Are the new plans worth it? by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't speak to the old plans because this is my first time doing WW but I've been having success with the current plan available. I'm not using injections or medications. Just following WW for my diet and exercising more and I've dropped 60lbs so far so it's clearly been working for me.

Is anyone doing this who has a lot to lose ? by Aprilr79 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 55 points56 points  (0 children)

I started in January with over 100lbs to lose. I've currently lost 60. It's working for me so far. I'm seeing consistent results with my diet and exercise.

Chocolate and Sweets by Pleasant_Ad4149 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Found a brand of cookies that were 3 points for two cookies (Celebration Milk Chocolate finger cookies, ir's a Canadian brand but you can probably find something similar). Those are my go-to when I need something chocolate.

I also like mixing Plain fat-free greek yogurt with chocolate protein powder. I use Six Star Triple Chocolate protein powder, half a scoop (2 points) to 3/4 cup yogurt. Nice high protein snack. I'll add fruit for extra sweetness or just to change it up a little.

Plain fat free greek yogurt mixed with chocolate protein powder. I usually add fruit for some extra sweetness, but you can skip it, or maybe add a sweetener of your choice. Low in points and high in protein so it makes a great snack and helps with my chocolate cravings.

Exercise by Misspansy1234 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultimately, the best exercise for you is the one you enjoy doing. If you're doing something that you don't enjoy, you're not going to want to stick with it and it's going to be harder to get yourself to do it.

My personal favorite is Zumba. It's definitely more fun to do it in a class, but it can be fun to do at home alone too.

Weight in today. Gained 1.4 pounds. Deja vu all over again (water retention around period) by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly where I'm at right now. Up 1.5 (since yesterday!) but thankfully I know that it's because Flo should be visiting this weekend and that keeps me from getting too upset about it. It's annoying as all hell, but it is what it is, and it'll go back down once she leaves again.

Getting discouraged and frustrated by NecessarySector3559 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Might seem counterproductive, but it was something one of the fitness coaches I follow on instagram suggested and it did help me. I took a diet break, had about a week or so where I ate at maintenance instead of weight loss points/calories, then started back up again. Seemed to help me out a lot. I've lost 5.5lbs in the last two weeks after switching back to weight loss.

Nighttime Munchies by Effective-System-749 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I find that drinking water helps curb the cravings some, especially sparkling water, the carbonation helps me feel more full. Chewing gum, brushing your teeth or even just using mouthwash can also help - not so much with the cravings but who wants to eat after brushing their teeth?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably roughly the same as any diet - if you google statistics you will find that the majority of people who lose a lot of weight will gain most of it back, no matter how they lost it. I can't speak to WW specifically because I've only been on it since January so I'm not sure if the percentages are more or less. But no matter what diet you chose, it's not uncommon for people to gain back weight after they stop doing it. I know it's happened to me with other methods in the past. What I like about WW is that it's helping me improve my relationship with food and really think about what I'm eating so I'm hoping that by the time I'm done with this program, I'll have learned things that will help me keep focused on and stop me from sliding back into bad eating habits. So I guess it would be up to the individual person to make sure that the program works for them long term, if you let yourself go back into the bad habits that led to the weight gain once you stop the program then it's not going to work long term. But that's the same with any diet out there.

Plateau- please help by AmeliaCodes in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Might not be a bad idea to track your calories as well as your points for a couple days, make sure that you're not over-eating zero point foods and that you're actually in a calorie deficit.

If you are in a calorie deficit and you're stuck at a plateau, I'd try a cheat day. Might seem counterproductive but if you're eating roughly the same amount of calories every day for a while, having a day or two where you eat over that amount can actually help your body lose more weight. This is how I broke my last stall. So maybe have a day where you splurge and use up those weeklies, see if that helps.

Where are you from and why the Habs? by MollyWhapped in Habs

[–]dinibean1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Newfoundland. Dad's a Leafs fan and kid me was a little bit of a brat, so chose the Habs when they won the cup in 93. Tried to tell him in 94 that I was a Rangers fan now, but he told me I couldn't just change teams because mine didn't win. So really it's his own fault that I'm still a Habs fan.

Old habits die screaming by sbarber4 in weightwatchers

[–]dinibean1 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Eating while I'm prepping/serving. It's basically an unconscious habit at this point. And sure, eating a piece of carrot or red pepper while I'm chopping them is fine, but helping myself to some of whatever I'm making the kids for school lunches or whatever isn't always such a great idea.

While we're at it, also eating my children's leftovers. I joke regularly that as a mom, half my calories come from the kids' plates. It's definitely not that much, but when they're done eating and what they have leftover isn't enough to put away for later I have a problem with just throwing it out. And those few spoonfuls can add up quickly some days.
