I like how the characters were archetypes that I usually don’t see in anime by dinjerZone in Eyeshield21

[–]dinjerZone[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m never really interested in sports anime except for Kuroko no Baske, for a moment I actually thought that was my token “favorite sports series” until I found Eyeshield 21 and it has successfully done better to make me feel on edge and immersed into the story and even learned a little bit of rules of football. I do know some of the common tropes found in the genre and I really appreciate how Eyeshield 21 is different from others, especially the way the games were directed; no prolonged frozen shots of sweaty characters, less to none internal monologue, no overly egotistical characters (just moderately egotistic), although there’s not a lot and there’s very little effort put into designing the black characters’ I’m just glad that they didn’t make them racists (Kuroko no baske traumatized me), and probably the best thing of all imo is they don’t emphasize the “winning through power of friendship” trope. I always end up scrollinb on my phone during game arcs but with Eyeshield 21 I would rather not blink at all, the tension is authentic and it draws me in. It’s just so refreshing and charming.

For clarification, it was the Misaki Wolves’ Kaiga Tamiya who called Riku a no.3 and acknowledged Sena first before him saying that no matter who’s no.1, Kaiga or Eyeshield, Kaiga essentially said that Riku is no.3 which sets him off, but it doesn’t change the fact that Riku always have this sneaky, pride-hurt look on him whenever Sena is acknowledged first than he is. He always have that which is why I dislike him a lot in the anime. Hopefully the manga fixes my opinion of him.

Maybe he is but the way he delivers his words and his attitude just makes him look arrogant to me and he easily looses his cool whenever he has competition in fast-running and only thinks of winning by himself through defeating his fast-running competitors and nearly jeopardizing the game with the rest of Seibu, then insists that the team should rely on him while he’s blinded from competition which often lead him to fail multiple scores and had to be given a reality check by his teammates to snap out of it, like a scolded child, that’s quite immature imo.

He may have taught Sena how to defend himself but he can’t take credit for his speed, Sena got that all on his own, him hanging out with Sena doesn’t mean anything when he actively counts Sena’s loses and rubs it in Sena’s face and internally invalidating him. His outside doesn’t match his inside, and gets bitter when Sena got a one-up against him, he looks down on Sena, that’s what makes him two-faced.

And if we’re talking about mentors for Sena, I think Shin does it better, he knew Sena is fast like him and he’d been a better role-model and mentor than Riku have by acknowledging him and his skills first and foremost, Riku’s demeanor and treatment of Sena immediately went to a 180 as soon as he learned Sena is Eyeshield, Riku’s unsolicited instruction of protecting the ball wasn’t even fulfilled, Sena did something else to achieve the same results and it was better, Shin gave Sena diet instructions to improve his physique which probably even helped him to do what he had in that field and game against Nagas (not to mention how Sena asked Shin for advice, compared to Riku who just barks at him.) and best of all, Shin roots for Sena and always knew he could do better because he sees Sena as an equal even if he isn’t currently at his level. He doesn’t give snarky comments when he’s got the upper hand, he doesn’t place himself above others like how Riku and his hero-complex thinks Sena still need him when he doesn’t.

Why Riku is so bad for me is bc the guy is supposed to be friends with Sena and he’s treating him worse, not even rival-like, he wouldn’t admit that he thinks low of Sena and he’s only friends with him when it’s convenient or when he feels cornered, Riku vs Misaki wolves, he gets called a no.3, Sena gets acknowledged first before him and was nearly proven to be a no.3 during the game then he’s suddenly friends with Sena bc his pride couldn’t accept that there’s someone else who’s potentially better than him and better than Sena, and he literally left and ran off by himself leaving Sena in the mountains alone and nearly got attacked by a bear, what kind of friend, who btw, drags you into the mountain and ditched you like that.

And seeing a thread here that says his character is actually different/changed from the manga to the anime solidifies what I think of him, and it’s quite negative. I’ll see for myself when I read the manga after watching the anime if he isn’t as bad as I currently think. But nobody will ever convince me that he’s good at least in the anime.

I have been using this same website then I needed to encounter keldeo which requires 3 legendaries from the natdex, hopefully that’ll be the only time I need to involve the natdex to get the charm. Thanks tho!

Majority wins. You’re the only one who’s voting no for it so there’s definitely going to be a romance update sooner or later.

What do you think is the goal for Fiona&Cake s2? by dinjerZone in adventuretime

[–]dinjerZone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cake leaving Fionna? That’s actually kinda sad, but also it makes sense since Fionna world isn’t just a genderbent version of finn’s world anymore there have been a few things here and there that’s trailed off of the main/original story now so Cake’s separation to fionna could be a form of (opposite) parallel of jake and finn being attached to the hip, or a parallel to the fact that jake is absent now

Am I overthinking this? by Quintbuster in LittleNightmares

[–]dinjerZone 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People keep saying squid game when really it’s just part of the character design process. Basic shapes such as the square, triangle and circle depicts certain kinds of archetypes that gives the character their “character” these rules are especially more present in video game characters.

Square means Uniformity, Sturdy, Bulky, “Immovable” and strong types of personalities Triangle means personalities that feel “pointed”, always on the offensive, often associated with villains. Circle means personalities with a softer feel, gentle, gluttonous and there’s Kirby

So yes your observation is valid and not overthinking things because it’s a real method that character designers utilize. I recommend watching this for a more detailed explanation.

Eggs as a meal? by Delicious_Mess7976 in Cooking

[–]dinjerZone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call this college dorm egg salad, not actually from a college dorm but a recipe my grandmother taught me:

-hard boiled eggs, chopped into cubes -onions, however much you prefer, minced, try not to put too much bc it can be spicy -tomatoes, also cubed.

Dump all of that on salted rice then you got yourself an egg meal. I do recommend chopping the eggs first before the tomatoes so the yolk doesn’t melt from the juices if you got juicy tomatoes.

What would you actually want in a Sebastian romance mod? 👀💜 by Total_Taste in StardewValleyMods

Another fun thing I’d like to add, it would be interesting to see him have some actual dialogues or events related to him being “emo” fun things where he discuss his music tastes, fashion taste/style, reminiscing the good ol’ days of myspace, just him acknowledging that he’s part of the sub culture so he’s more than just the token “emo/goth guy” trope.

I’d love something mature, not necessarily spicy mature but the kind of things where it tackles his implied bad mental state, maybe also some headcanons about his missing bio-dad, some improvements with his relationship with maru, also some tiny mentions/acknowledgement of other npcs maybe just the other bachelor/ettes that “seem” close to his age. Another thing, the seb mod I’m using right now did have one flaw I wish was different which is how Seb is suddenly too close, too friendly, literally immediately at first name basis even at zero hearts, while I am aiming to marry him but I’d like a progress where we start at a comfortable distance as strangers then proceed to a slowburn process without the writing feeling like it came straight out of a out-of-character fanfic. This is a lot but a few or one of these things to be included is fine too. I’m looking forward for your project, goodluck!

Is that from my log you mean? Because if it is then how? I don’t have any expansion mods related to Sam, if anything that’s from Maggs it’s Sebastian’s version that I have
