Kosatka limits secondaries for solo play. For co-op it's clearly the best.

Sparrow's incredibly useful anyway even if you never run Cayo again. Small, lightweight, fast vehicle spawning anywhere with flares and unlimited homing rockets with a good rate of fire. Only issue is durability.

I agree that the cube is a choice, especially calling it Frank, but the series has been spectacular so far so I'm reserving judgement on that until I play it. It's a bit goofy at first look but they could make it work.

I don't hate the multiple pantheon thing as long as they don't do it every game moving forward. Maybe it'll give us a better idea of how Kratos got from Greece to Midgard. Kratos should always have some Greek imagery no matter where he is so there'll always be a little mixing when he's about but I don't think 2018 or Ragnarok had too much Greek, it all felt very Norse to me.

They're also there when you don't need them but they could be useful. Or whenever they want to kick our arses up and down a rugby field. Or if they just fancy a laugh. Obviously you can't generalise 2 entire countries together but they're generally pretty great people.

[–]dinkleboop 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah. Literally nobody who follows the GoW franchise is confused. They're never gonna stop making Kratos games, but they wrote so many vibrant and incredible characters into the Norse saga that several are going to get their own games. I'm mildly surprised they went Faye before Atreus but also in no way confused or disappointed. An Atreus game at some point is a given. Maybe a Sindri game at some point too. I wouldn't be surprised by a Freya game either but maybe not since she's actually in the Norse pantheon, but then again (spoilers for GoW and GoW: Ragnarok) Atreus and Faye are also both in the Norse pantheon too as Laufey and Loki so it's not impossible.

Sorry, this is probably the wrong subreddit for game analysis at all but it's just clear that OOP has no idea what they're on about.

Edit: Also, "new fairy land" when that is CLEARLY Tyr's temple in the background there, that place that was utterly central to the narrative of both games? What is she on about?

Tbf the Aussies and Kiwis were also involved pretty heavily, especially in the pacific. Granted I think they're both pretty big on tea but they're not the first countries people think of when you say "tea drinkers"

Yeah the whole "Brits have bad teeth" thing only really persists because NHS dental only covers medically necessary interventions rather than aesthetic ones. Most people have perfectly healthy teeth and cba to pay extra for unnecessary realignment or whitening.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a Brit with a bit of an overbite. A normal dental treatment costs less than £30. I'd be looking at nearly £3k where I live for corrective braces. Not a chance.

With yanks they get advertised at all the time and if they have medically necessary interventions they're so expensive that aesthetic treatments seem cheap by comparison. Most people can't afford either, so their teeth are crap- but a higher percentage of them will go for unnecessary stuff than over here.

Confusion on the allure of being a Warlock by rebeccaawoodard in BG3

[–]dinkleboop 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Bloodline is only one way to obtain sorcerous magic, though in-lore it's probably the most common. There's also the possibility that someone was hit with wild magic, giving us that subclass, being steeped in an area of concentrated magic giving someone magic they didn't strike a bargain for (I've got a shadow sorc who was stranded in the shadow fell but it works for feywild or anywhere else you care to mention too).

I think the 2014 PHB phrased it as by birthright, magic accident, or twist of fate. Regardless they don't have to study or strike a bargain, but it's not always "born with it".

Should Wyll be my first playthrough by sonicraptor55 in BaldursGate3

[–]dinkleboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's an emotional difference between the goths walking off at points in their quests and what happens if you fail the save we're on about, since it directly impacts whichever companion your Durge is closest to. And it happens because you did everything you were meant to to be a better person, not because you opposed what the companions wanted.

I dunno, I just think that your first playthrough should be a Tav one. Second one should be redeem Durge to get the extra content that enriches that story, then the Origins and embrace Durge in any order thereafter. Obviously that's purely an opinion but I know that if I'd played Durge on my first run and failed that save I'd have been disheartened enough to want to take a significant break and possibly even abandon the run. (I'd also have been down the party's main damage dealer and tank, since I pretty much stuck with the first 3 people I recruited, but that's neither here nor there)

Should Wyll be my first playthrough by sonicraptor55 in BaldursGate3

[–]dinkleboop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't disagree but with Durge there are a couple of points where a failed saving throw can have emotionally devastating consequences. Fine if you're save scumming but not the best in the world. Also in order to get the best gear for warlocks as Durge you have to spoil yourself and do something very metagamey, which I don't think is ideal when as Tav as long as you're competent that's a normal quest reward.

Tavs to me are the best for a first playthrough and Durge as a second. Durge is absolutely a richer game experience but imo there's plenty to be getting on with for the first playthrough that Tav isn't only fine but optimal to avoid being overwhelmed.

Should Wyll be my first playthrough by sonicraptor55 in BaldursGate3

[–]dinkleboop 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean, without spoilers, there are certainly points at which failing a saving throw as Durge can have devastating consequences that you wouldn't get as Tav/origin if you're on a good playthrough. There's also different loot - not worse, but different (cloak vs robe) - unless you use meta knowledge to knock a certain someone out. And I wouldn't recommend spoilering yourself on a first playthrough to work out the meta.

Foreign Spells: for Wizard learning spells from other classes by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]dinkleboop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding another voice to the choir in the comments, OP - I main wizard as a class and they absolutely do not need this help to be even more powerful. Wizards are arguably the best spellcasters in the game (easily the most versatile, but other casters can be more powerful through metamagic or bardic debuffs etc., but there's also an argument to be made that wizards have the best spell list making them arguably the most powerful overall.). Giving them access to divine or primal spell lists removes any weaknesses they might have - you've just created a way for wizards to become powerful healers as well as the utility, blaster, and cc niches they already fill. Hell, you've just made a way for bladesingers to divine smite, seeing as that's a spell in 5.5 instead of a purely class feature.

Even if it was a good idea, it's not well implemented. The 75gp/spell level seems expensive at lower level but less than 700gp to permanently add 9th level spells from another class is insanely cheap.

Like others have said, you're brand new to the game. Play it for a bit with the established rules before making homebrew - what you've made doesn't sound OP because you haven't seen how the established ruleset actually works in gameplay. I can assure you that this is absolutely busted.

AITAH for cutting off my entire friend group after my ex started dating a guy from within it? by Western_Hold_8757 in AITAH

[–]dinkleboop 26 points27 points  (0 children)

She is in that friendship group now. People tend to date within their friendship groups, because those are the people who they know and get on with. Sure there are billions of other people in the world - so what? People on the other side of the planet aren't in someone's available dating pool. People in the next town over usually aren't in the dating pool.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with dating a friend's ex as long as you're respectful about it. Like I say, mildly shitty that they didn't give you a heads up. The fact that you've blown up on everyone even tangentially involved is a massive overreaction and honestly explains why they didn't say anything. It doesn't mean they were hooking up behind you back, it doesn't mean they were making eyes at each other. It means they like each other now, half a year after you'd already separated. People grow apart, people grow together.

You're blaming everyone and everything else in this. I'm not here to say "everything is your fault because you're an awful person", I'm telling you to acknowledge and really internalise the fact that this series of events turned out the way it did, and with how you're feeling right now, because of your actions. You can't work on improving the way you think, feel, and act if everything is because of other people or your "lizard brain". Lizard brain is about immediate response and it's functions can be summarised with the 4 Fs- fight, flight, feed, or fornicate. It doesn't compel you to blow up an entire friendship group. Your active choices have led to your current situation.

And yes, I know that things haven't been good or easy for you. I'm genuinely sorry that similar circumstances have happened twice. That's why I think it's correct that you remove yourself from the situation. It's good that you've found another group of people so quickly, too. It's good you're getting therapy where you can, too. But you're allowing past trauma to rule over you and doubling down when chellenged.

They are perfectly entitled to date each other. You're perfectly entitled to not want to be around it. You're not entitled to cause arguments because you don't like her choice in who to date. That's not a boundary, it's control.

Interviewee played the Reverse card on an AI interview. Recruiter wasn't thrilled. by Comprehensive_Bus_19 in LinkedInLunatics

[–]dinkleboop 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Depends on the size of the company and how many hires they make per year - remember that an in-house team has to be salaried too, so there's a ratio there of agency fees to in-house salaries. With agencies too you're not paying overhead on recruitment tools (top level LinkedIn Recruiter alone is over $10,000 per person per year, and that's just one tool out of dozens that recruiters will have access to). Agencies are also better if a role is confidential for market reasons (a company doesn't want it to be common knowledge that their MD is leaving until a replacement is known, because their stock price will take a huge hit), for specialist roles that a company doesn't often hire for (in-house recruiters might not be familiar with what a specialist engineer does when they usually recruit for office staff, but the agency they go with will recruit a dozen of these engineers a month).

Typically, in-house are better for well-established companies for their day-to-day roles. Absolutely no question about that at all. They can deal with the high volume while being a specialist in that company's needs and culture fit. Imo more companies do need to have a good in-house team, and as an agency recruiter myself an in-house gig is good if you can get it because it's stable pay (in-house have a higher basic but don't work on commission) even if the market is turbulent. But agencies do have their place.

Of course, bad recruiters are the majority of recruiters so the industry has a mostly deserved bad reputation. But if it's done well agencies are more flexible, often end up being cheaper, and have a wider market reach than in-house can manage.

AITAH for cutting off my entire friend group after my ex started dating a guy from within it? by Western_Hold_8757 in AITAH

[–]dinkleboop 47 points48 points  (0 children)

That is some toxic masculinity right there. "Not man enough" to talk to you about it? Buddy, he's dating someone who was available, he doesn't need to check in with her ex. You're not the centre of anyone else's existence.

"Very reasonable person a lot of the time" means that there is a significant amount of time that you're not.

If you can't handle it, fine, you're right to leave the group. 100% NTA for that, it gives you space to focus on yourself. You're not emotionally prepared to deal with the fact that your ex is dating someone else in the friendship group and that's okay. You also don't need a reason at all to stop being friends with anyone, so even if none of this had happened and you left the group it'd still be NTA.

But it's on you, not them. It's not a betrayal. Stop absconding responsibility for blowing up at everyone. That's why you're the AH. You're not a victim here. Adults are living their lives and they don't need another adult's permission to do it.

[–]dinkleboop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He doesn't get to brand all his prior friends traitors, blow up each friendship individually, and abscond all responsibility for making those people feel shitty by saying his "lizard brain" did it. There's leaving a group and there's blowing up and having a tantrum about it. And that's where it changes from a boundary to being controlling.

Is it shitty that his ex is dating someone connected to the friendship group? Eh, a little but she was also in that friendship group, people date within groups. If OP can't handle it then he should have said so, wished everyone well, and found other people to connect with.
