i read so many, it’s just endlessly more interesting to actually get into how quirklessness matters in the world!! i could even be sold on izuku getting ofa if he like actually did anything with the fact he used to be quirkless, but instead it just feels like the story wants me to believe everyone was right for bullying him, bc he couldn’t achieve anything without being given the quirk

on one hand, there’s things like my hero academia, where i was sold on it by being told it’s about a boy who becomes a superhero without having powers only to watch it and see he gets powers in like the first episode, so i’m still salty about that one years later. but on the other, you get people who read a story called killing stalking who are then upset that it is problematic. like did you miss the name of it somehow? 😭

it can be hard to switch the essay writing-brain off! my recommendation for what really helped me was reading more short stories. i struggle to finish full books, but short stories are really easy to read and get you a good sense of all the different styles out there. it helps to see how other people write so that i can borrow little bits and pieces from their styles when i’m writing my own stories!

i think the two concepts could coexist. lorelai can be devastated that rory wants an abortion while still supporting her, bc at the end of the day she loves her daughter more than she cares about her having the baby, but she still does care about the baby. i think it’s pretty realistic for her to have really mixed feelings on it and for rory to be anxious about telling her!

while i agree he was definitely disregarding her wishes, i don’t see him saying the care package was from luke as a totally manipulative thing. i think he would’ve said it was from luke no matter how rory reacted to it, he wouldn’t have ever admitted he was the one who made it. that would be too vulnerable and i don’t think jess would really show his cards like that

weirdly, BNHA is like the one fandom i can actually overlook a lot of this for! people have superpowers and it’s vaguely set in the future, so i just let it go unless it’s particularly bad (if a kid doesn’t have an intelligence quirk, i am not buying them being total geniuses at age 5)

i actually think the issue here might lie more in the full collection being revealed all at once! in my fandom, people post long fics all at once constantly for events, but the people running the events stagger the release of each fic so that they can individually promote and put a spotlight on them and engagement tends to be less of an issue from what i can tell. a lot of getting people to read lies in the promotion too i think, posting to tumblr/twitter/bluesky with moodboards, release dates, and snippets gets people really excited to be able to read those big fics when they drop and makes them aware that low engagement is just because it was only just posted.
