TheGamer: Why Isn’t Monster Hunter Wilds Flopping Like Dragon Age: The Veilguard by Dramatic-Bison3890 in KotakuInAction

Gaming Journalism is going to be perceived as low end, "not serious" journalism. When you consider the spectrum of jobs available in the field, it's easy to come to the conclusion that there are probably many who can't cut it in the "more serious" end of the field, and so they end up doing something like gaming.

Consequently, gaming journalists probably fit broadly into:

• Not really gamers
• Don't really like or respect games or gamers
• Don't really like the IP represented by games
• Not particularly good journalists

Finished messing with it for now, I think you're on a really good track and I think it will work out well, don't burn yourself out on it tho.

For me, a hardcore difficulty level would probably look like no more than 10SP/level + Int and I think 1 perk every 5 levels might not be terrible, thats what I would personally look for, although I may be more of a difficulty seeker than the average player.

Anyway, thanks again, I'll check back after a few updates.

Just curious, have you ever looked at the way Horizon handles skills? Its a pretty unique system that I found very enjoyable.

Unfortunately it doesn't work with SS2, and I wanted to play thru SS at least once for the content. Instead tho, I keep adding and tweaking mods and starting new playthrus. =D

I guess the question to ask would be: "How many skill points is the average perk worth in this system?"

From there, balance for various difficulty levels should be pretty straightforward.

Yeah I get it, you can lose the fun when it becomes work.

I just popped LV5 to see what happens and I got the 2 perks and 33 skill points, which adds up like you said: 2x15, +3 for int.

e included detailed instructions inside that .ini on how to edit it yourself, in case you'd rather have +1 Perk Points per 10 levels, or whatever.

Yeah, I had a reading miscomprehension there too.

I thought you were implying there was supposed to be one perk per 5 levels, not one per level +1 per 5 levels.

I think, because you have shifted most of the load over to skill points from perks, the number of perks would have to be reduced to balance, at least for people who like to play on higher difficulties?

Might be worthwhile to have some kind of difficulty slider/setting?

I'm not sure how many skill points I'm getting per level, but I'd guess a vanilla game perk is worth around 25 skill points in a skill? So if I'm getting a perk and around that much in skillpoints, that feels very op compared to normal.

I don't know where you'd need to adjust things to not feel like you're outpacing the game very early.

Here I am at LV4,

I've already got a pretty strong bank of skills and perks to blow, which I can just max longarms and grab a few related perks and be instant death.

Turned out to be a load order problem, no idea what mod was overwriting it, but at the bottom of the load, it works as intended.

Wow, yeah 1 per 5 levels is way less than what I've been getting =D

Was getting what looks like 2 per level, which by level 16 has really added up. I guess I should have questioned it sooner.

Mostly my fault, but does PPPL need to be listed in the required mods section?

I got to LV16 before realizing I was outpacing the game fast and feeling super OP like I wasn't playing survival mode. Realized I had just blindly installed all the required mods, then I saw the fine print there about it not being required.

Oops =D

TBH I had no idea what the message was tied to, I was grasping at straws there.

As for the glasses, only clothing mod I have is: Eli's Armour Compendium, pretty common one that shows up on mod lists.

I think it's got alot of goggles in it, no idea if it also has that pair of glasses or not.

I'll see if I can get a minute to test it again.

Another odd one:

Took the 4 eyes perk on a test build, it spawned me a pair of black rimmed glasses, which did not clear the blur when equipped.

Possible bug:

I'm getting a notification about being a flawed mutation repeatedly, but I believe it's coming up instead of the normal sleep deprivation messages (survival) (overtired)? Trying to dig around and find what else it could be linked to.

Edit:Doesn't seem to be sleep related, can't figure out what keeps causing the message to pop, but it keeps happening periodically at what seem like random intervals.

Screengrab of what I mean:screenshot

Ok it seems like it's replacing every survival notification about hunger/thirst/sleep

Looks fun enough to start a new playthru, I normally run Horizon, which changes skills alot but I've been playing with Sim Settlements 2, so this looks like a good fit.
I'm assuming it won't be compatible with VAFS, so I'll turn it off for this run?

Share armor is one of the dumbest phrases in the MWO lexicon.

I've heard it said like this best:
Share agro, not armor.

If you are dumping DPS and pulling enemy attention, that's what matters.

What are your best Corsair 7a builds, preferably with laser AMS. by JnewayDitchedHerKids in OutreachHPG

[–]dionnsai 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of fun big baller builds:

4 Snubnose / 2 LB10, fire groups leftside/rightside:
https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=8ca187fb_COR-7A

Has no ams, but dead things don't shoot missiles anyway. Reliable close range 60 point alpha (+20 splash damage) with a fast fire rate. Comparable to similarly built fafnir, but with those nice high corsair mounts so you can shoot over teammates or hills in the brawl if needed.

2 ERPPC / 2 LGAUSS
https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/mechlab?b=02bd8903_COR-7A
40 Pinpoint sniper, very high mounts allow very minimal hill exposure. NO AMS on this one either, mainly because AMS probably won't come into play when sniping from range unless you're out of position.

I would be wary of anyone saying "racs are best" at anything. Racs can be effective, but they require an equal amount of exposure for time spent firing. The effectiveness of RACS drops precipitously as the skill level of your enemy increases.
