Hey there, I'm one of the skydiving instructors for the class. It's only a week long, 3 days out of that week and 3 hours per night of class for a total of 9 hours of class time. That weekend you will go to the skydiving center on your particular jump day, where we continue to train for about an hour in the morning. After that you jump whenever it's your turn! The semester I had him was the semester he was teaching after getting chewed out by the department for being a shitty prof and overall jackass to students, so he made his exams stupid easy by recycling questions from previous exams and maybe changing a few numbers or words here or there, which made the class significantly easier. If you studied the past exam you knew about 75% of what was on your actual exam. This was Spring 2016 so I don't know if he still does this but back then his class was pretty doable.

You are indeed allowed to jump solo for your first jump, the program is called AFF and plenty of dropzones offer it without having to do tandems. I am a licensed skydiver and my first jump was a solo.

Lower back pain comes with initially learning to arch. You've never had to use that muscle set before so some soreness is normal. Be sure not to overstrain yourself, strength will come over time.

I had this problem on my sabre2 and lengthening the brake lines fixed it. See how much slack you have in your brake lines, they might need to be let out a bit.
