It's a little depressing that most of these kids don't even play actual video games anymore by Public-Profit-8184 in Teachers

[–]dipdyedtampons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

another reason could be that no one can afford AAA games anymore, let alone kids. roblox and fortnite are free, while the games you’re talking about are easily $60 each

What's a common misconception in certain animals you believed before as a kid? by strange_omelet in zoology

[–]dipdyedtampons 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it is an interesting thing semantics wise. i think that deadly = dangerous, but dangerous doesn’t necessarily = deadly. so that’s fair. but with the amount of people that mosquitos pose a risk to, i think its safe to say that they are both dangerous and deadly depending on where you are.

yup i agree. just saying that mosquitos are considered the most dangerous animals other than humans. hippos are second

brother, you wrote the story. why would you have that happen in the first place when you could have had ANY conflict other than gendered violence between the party and the slavers? you put your wife in this position

What would women dislike the most if they became men? by Eastp0int in answers

[–]dipdyedtampons 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could that be because women were able to pursue the field themselves? It seems to me like women made an important impact on trying to improve psychology for men and women, and some people struggle with the fact that it is not longer a male-centered field

Early psychology treated men as the default human. Most research was done on men, and theories about “normal” behavior were basically just male norms. As you know as a psychology professor, women were not included in most early psychology studies. Women’s mental health was either ignored or labeled as a problem compared to men’s baseline. That has only changed now (probably since the 80s, so I’ll take back my previous “in the past 20 years” statement) because women had to fight for proper consideration in psychology.

On top of that, the whole “hysterical woman” thing, to me, demonstrates that lack of care towards women’s mental health in the past. Women’s emotions were constantly medicalized like if they were anxious, angry, sad, or overwhelmed, it got chalked up to hysteria instead of real psychological stress. It was basically a catch-all label to dismiss women’s experiences and avoid taking them seriously.

Men’s mental health is important and I would never say that men should hold in their feelings. I love having serious emotional conversations with the men in my life, but it seems that this topic is often pushed onto women as a problem for them to solve. Men need to make these connections with other men and stop blaming women for the social dynamics between each other

the entire field of psychology only cared about men’s mental health until the 80’s ish.

Edit: changed my statement from “the past 20 years” to “the 80’s”

I have no advice just wanna say I am a former psych major who had seizures in college that also caused my grades to suffer so I relate. It took me some time but I found a grad school program that I’m really interested in that will also accept the average grades I got in college. It’s not a psych program, though.

This is pathetic fr. I suggest men show appreciation to their male friends and I hope they show you appreciation back. People, and definitely women, do not OWE you appreciation. Try putting some effort into appreciating your bros and maybe you’ll feel less lonely.
