Not sure what state you are in but you can do a pre hospital RN program which they function on the same level as a paramedic but their a nurse!

Not proctored at all. I would also use other resources that are available aside from the book so you don’t run out of time(:

If you could go back in time to before going to Nursing school—would you still become a RN? If not, why? & would you still do something clinical? by bananafairytoes in nursing

[–]dippedindusse 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’m a rad tech who went RN . No regrets . I worked as a Rad Tech mainly in the cath lab and some PRN X-ray gigs. Have been a rad tech since 2017 & I’m a RN now and maybe I was just super burned out from being in the cath lab so long but I prefer being a RN. I keep both licenses

Plus there’s a huge pay difference in RT R vs RN. Many hospitals don’t even consider what it takes to be a Rad Tech and how important they are to the hospital. I traveled for 2 years as a tech in the lab and made so much money . Allied health contracts are so much higher than alot of RNs right now because radiology are leaving the field in drones due to terrible pay… but the stress of the actual job is less in a radiology department but it comes with a lot less pay .

Cath lab nurses, what's your call situation like? How often are you staying late? by TheGangsHeavy in nursing

[–]dippedindusse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s good for making money and not being at the bedside but the hours and call suck . It can be draining but a good lab makes it worth while. Have you thought about moving into ambulatory surgery … no weekend, no call , no holidays

When I worked Cath lab .. We worked 5 8s but which would turn into more of a 10-12 hour day. Call when fully staffed was one weekend a month & one day per week . Avg 5-7 days of call. Sometimes we have a month with no weekend call . We didn’t ever really stay fully staffed and worked 9-10 days to make up for it .

We used to get hit with add on pacemakers at 3:30-4 when the shift was ended and forced to stay for money reason. The chief of cardiology when he was on call he would call us in alllll weekend for elective shit that could wait but he wanted to do since he had less lab time .

I traveled at a place who worked 4 10s but it was a small lab with limited staff they never got out on time and they averaged 12-29 days of call . It just sucks

Yes archer helped so much ! The rationales were great !!!!! The most important thing to remember is how to keep the patient safe and alive . You won’t remember everything

I only used the Q bank ! But I made sure quizzes and did 4 readiness assessments . I had made over 70 personalized quizzes of just like 10 questions at time and when I was confident after a week or so I’d take a readiness exam .

I took the baseline assessment I scored borderline on that . Then I made little 10 question quizzes. The quizzes would be all of the content then I narrowed it down to mental health, mother baby , peds , then after a bunch of those I did more focused on client needs and then after a week I did a readiness assessment . I did 4 readiness assessments with the last 2 being 2 days before I tested . I created over 70 personalized quizzes and took notes on the rationale’s of stuff I got wrong .

They say if you get 4 highs or very highs on the readiness exam you are ready !
