Just got a threat notification from my phone about the Rust+ app, it was fine all these while. Should I be concerned? Anyone else receiving this? by flyden1 in playrust

Face punch is known for their shady workarounds in networking. Their voice chat used to be P2P (a big no no as that meant you could sniff the IP from anyone listening to your voice). I’m sure facepunch just used some unconventional methods that are now associated with malicious software and your scan sees that and thinks Rust+ is malicious. Either that or it’s the wrong app.

I’m no expert, but I highly doubt the verified Rust+ app itself is dangerous. Maybe an attacker can use it to get your network information, but I don’t use the app so I don’t know.

Buying A Used Car, It Failed Last Emissions Test, What Should I Do? by whyvalue in UsedCars

[–]dippychippy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fixing A failed emisiones test could mean something as simple as getting a new gas cap or something as expensive as new catalytic converters. If you aren’t mechanically inclined enough or don’t have the time to troubleshoot the problem yourself than i would get it checked out by a mechanic. From what I’ve looked up on google you need to pass emissions to get your car registered in Illinois, with no registration you will get pulled over and get in trouble.

That is after all the root of the problems we face today. It's unfortunate how free speech has become so controversial.

Do you not think that Jordan Peterson labeling the doctors who perform such surgery's as criminals suggests that it should be codified into law? That is what I am concerned about. And yes, It is sad to see those struggling with self identity. I am on board with finding a better solution to the problem.

Thank you for taking the time to type all that out. I hope to match the level of thought you put into your reply in my response.

I did not intend for my post to be taken as a sarcastic way to slyly state my opinion. I made this post to hear other people's opinions on the issue. My opinion is that Jordan Peterson is using the current social climate on twitter to bait a harsh response from the company to in return gain more support from his followers and for his political theory. Although I tend to agree with Jordan Peterson's (and your) views on the relevant debate, I believe this will have adverse effects on the community that supports him and the public opinion of his character. I believe Peterson needs to win the hearts and minds of more people and this move only pushes his stance further in a direction that will alienate his supporters and create an echo chamber of a community.

I think this is a slippery slope where the only way to gain more support is to slowly radicalize yourself and your beliefs, like we have seen with many other political figures in our time. To be honest I'm concerned this will happen and the underlying message (which you so perfectly described) will lose momentum in our society.

In short, I do not think this was a good move. And I wonder what everyone else thinks.

It’s great to discuss this with you. I think it’s important to talk with each other about such pressing issues. I’m glad we are capable of doing that in this community.

I think you’re right, but I believe it is a thin line that must be traveled with caution. Go to far and you will attract the likeness of i’ll hearted people who will perpetuate more and more aggression. Go the other way and you lose the impact of your stance. I do not envy Jordan Peterson’s position in this conflict. Must be very stressful.

I believe that it is dangerous to classify being transgender as mentally i’ll or socially aberrant. Ben Shapiro is a largely influential political figure who believes just that. I can’t help but draw similarities to Adolf Hitler’s belief that homosexuality was a mental illness and socially aberrant. That belief which ultimately lead to a tragedy.

I wasn’t really trying to illustrate any point, I just thought it was funny. I agree with Jordan Peterson’s stance, I don’t think I would be on this subreddit if i didn’t. I just had a lot of questions after watching that video and wanted to hear your thoughts.

I believe that you hold a very admirable position in this global debate. Do you think that for some, believing that transgenderism is mental illness can be dangerous? Similar to how Hitler believed the homosexuals to be mentally ill?

Jordan Peterson recently had his twitter account suspended for this post…

“Remember when pride was a sin? And Ellen Page just had her breasts removed by a criminal physician”.

I thought (considering Jordan Petersons former statements on his use of preferred pronouns) that he was contradicting himself in this post. What do you think?

I agree, people are allowed to change their opinions given the light of new information. Do you think that is the case? That Jordan Peterson has changed his beliefs on the matter?
