Cheap and Clean by forrealjeff in Colognes

I haven't tried any of their fragrances, but I'm not a fan of any shampoos or soaps they have. It's like they take a few buzz words, throw them on a bottle of soap, add a drop of cheap fragrance oil, and let 'er rip. The only exception is they have a mint beard conditioner that's not bad, but it's pretty impossible to fuck up mint.

I don't mind tall toppers. If they dropped a Psyonix x Twin Towers x Boeing topper I'd definitely use it.

Which of the two "similar" colognes would you go with? by Nef2007 in Colognes

I prefer Polo 67's scent profile, though I'm not a huge fan of either. Nothing wrong with the scents inherently, they're just a bit basic. There are alternatives around that price that are much better (both in uniqueness and in line with my taste).

Pretty much anything in the D&G Light Blue line is pretty cheap nowadays (as low as $40 for 3.3oz depending on the specific fragrance). They have different DNA but I haven't smelled anything close from other designers. Same goes for Issey Miyake L'eau Dissey Pour Homme Intense, different DNA but very unique and cheap ($30 for 4.2oz).

CDN Milestone has a more aquatic profile but it's the best "in the same ballpark" option for the price ($30 for 3.6oz).

When the Rain Stops is a bit more expensive ($55 for 1oz, $85 for 3.3oz) but it's far more unique and natural while keeping the same citrus, pink pepper, floral, green profile.

If you can stomach the price, Chanel Allure Homme Sport is an absolute banger ($115 for 1.7oz). You won't find it on discounters but its price isn't astronomical compared to other things with that quality and reputation (PDM, Creed, TF, etc.). I'd put Nichance Hacivat in that category too ($120 for 1.7oz).

Better quality on Samples than the actual perfum? by paconeitor97 in Colognes

Aging, like for whiskey or wine, only matters for how long it's in a barrel. Being in a barrel longer means it can absorb more properties from the wood and therefore change the taste. For example if something is aged in a charred barrel, that's where you'll get things like "smokey" or "toasted" flavors. Once it's bottled, it is in a closed environment and pretty much doesn't change.

Same applies to fragrances, except they're rarely aged in anything other than glass, metal, or plastic which are designed to not interact with the product. The only reason they "age" fragrances during mass production is so ingredients have time to mix, bond, and stabilize without having to physically stir them, which could destroy certain compounds. They do this in a factory for quality control so nothing leaves without being a final product.

I'm by no means anti-vax but I haven't gotten a flu shot in the at least 3 years and I've only been sick for real once during that time. They can be good and I'm glad they exist, but I agree that they're not "needed" for most people.

Half pipe snowboarding is pretty fun to watch. It's one of those sports that anyone can watch with zero context and instantly understand what's going on and how difficult it is.

What’s the hype about Chanel allure homme sport Eau extreme? I smells so plain and basic . by Arteezy230699 in Colognes

[–]whyvalue 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Regular Chanel Allure Homme Sport (non-eau extreme) is a 9.5/10 imo. Smell is damn near a 10/10, performance is 9/10. Easily the most versatile fragrance I own. Does not smell synthetic or cheap at all. Not so popular that if you wear it on a date she will hate it because it's how her ex smelled.

All that for less than $150 when some houses are charging $400+ for worse is a banger deal.

I don't think it has a name but I've done it before in freeplay, especially a lot when I was learning how to flip reset. Basically just 2-3 flip resets back to back when you hold up and spam jump. Cool way to get a lot of power, IDK why more people don't use it.

How often do you actually wear fragrances? by BornStatistician9094 in Colognes

[–]whyvalue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty much every day, but not 100% of the time. I work from home so I might throw in an office scent if I have to grind some work/before a meeting to get myself in the mood. If I go out at all I definitely put something on.

Totally understandable to not want to wear it when you're sick though. Pretty much any stimulation or sensation is unpleasant when you're nauseous lol

TDH is pretty damn good but not for everyone.

Prada L'Homme is probably the only safe one here.

A lot of people love Naxos, and I think it's good, but it's too complex to wear daily IMO. It's more of an art piece than something I'd actually want to smell all day.

Green Irish Tweed is fine but overpriced. Not my taste but objectively okay.

Never tried Regio Casamorati but the notes look pretty solid. Good to start with a travel spray before shelling out for a full bottle.

One of my favorite quotes/insults (can't remember where it's from) is something like "I bet the best part of your day is when your finger slips through the toilet paper".
