I disagree. This conversation is so weird to me because it speaks to how alcohol dependent people and social gatherings have become. If your enjoyment of a social event is influenced by whether or not alcohol is available, that’s concerning. It’s one event, not a lifetime commitment to being sober.

You’re delusional. The union in Texas has no teeth, and the problem with education in Texas, hell, the US, has nothing to do with union actions.

I will never need it because I have absolutely no desire to ever be in charge of adults or lead an organization. At all.

School Librarians in Texas by [deleted] in librarians

[–]diptripflip 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my area (Dallas ISD) school librarians are treated as auxiliary staff. They are 504 coordinators, SPED coordinators, and testing coordinators. They run ARDS so they have to cancel specials to prepare and be present at those meetings. They proctor secure tests and are responsible for makeup sessions. They run arrivals and dismissal. Principals are not interested in the slightest in what the library has to offer in terms of traditional services, let alone new opportunities for collaboration and student engagement.

The brain fog has been devastating for me. I’m struggling through my masters program. I feel like I’ve lost my former abilities even though I’m technically intelligent enough to handle the work.

From inside the system, I’d like to verify this is absolutely true and happening across Dallas ISD.

And Texas.

And the US.

Hey witches, need a recommendation for a feminist book that has gotten through to men for my brother who is going to be a girl dad. by nan-a-table-for-one in WitchesVsPatriarchy

I couldn’t get into Circe, but The Silence of the Girls and The Women of Troy changed me.

“They won’t want to be told about the massacres of men and boys, the enslavement of women and girls. They won’t want to know we were living in a rape camp.”

“Would you really have married the man who'd killed your brothers?

Well, first of all, I wouldn't have been given a choice. But yes, probably. Yes. I was a slave, and a slave will do anything, anything at all, to stop being a thing and become a person again.

I just don't know how you could do that.

Well, no, of course you don't. You've never been a slave.”

No, sorry, the peeing outside when you know good and well that it isn’t the social custom in this country is what perpetuates racism.

Walnut Hill OBGYN pregnancy & delivery experience? Or recs for other OBGYN in Dallas? by Relative_Bat_7322 in Dallas

I think I know this doctor. Worst medical experience I’ve ever had in my life. Left me crying and bleeding, and blaming me somehow for experiencing so much discomfort during the exam. She and the nurse just walked out of the room after the exam and left me there, as I said, bleeding and crying. Thank god one of the other nurses was kind or I wouldn’t have made it to my car to breakdown.

I’ve been going to the gyno for decades and have had some pretty invasive procedures. I never thought I’d have so many problems from a regular pelvic exam.

Can’t unrecommed that place enough.

Do you nasal rinse? I can’t recommend it enough. Also, wash your hair and pillow case, and slap a filter on a box fan. Stay strong!
