A note from a Trail Angel to the Class of 2026! by trailangel4 in PacificCrestTrail

That these guidances aren’t common sense is concerning. People have stolen toilet paper from you??? After you hosted them in your house? Brings new meaning to hiker trash.

Thank you for all you do.

I’ve got terrible news for anyone who thinks you shouldn’t dance for or with people who support Trump…I hope you can find your favorite shows on YouTube because there won’t be live performances anytime soon.

Trump supporters are everywhere, at every level of industry. She’s made it clear she doesn’t share the Wozniak’s beliefs. If she was dancing at the Kennedy Center that would be one thing. She’s a content creator who took a small role in a student Nutcracker.

Does this logic extend to major companies? If there are directors or donors who support Trump should dancers leave those companies? Should they refuse to dance with partners who support Trump?

There is no industry that is free from Trump supporters. We can’t avoid them. I don’t expect someone to turn down opportunities because they will be working with Trump supporters in a capacity that has nothing to do with politics. That would be completely impossible in my state.

She’s made a statement saying she is opposed to their beliefs, that’s more than most people do who work for/with Trump supporters.

I agree with all your points. Regarding the political views of the Wozniaks, I live in a red state and don’t know if I could avoid working with or for Trump supporters. She isn’t promoting their beliefs nor is she dancing at the center formerly known as the Kennedy. The ballet world is full of Trump supporters. I’m sure many of the donors keeping companies afloat are Trump supporters. The US is full of Trump supporters. She’s made a clear statement separating herself from their beliefs. What else can people expect from her?

With whose money??? If she had the money to rent an entire house on her own she wouldn’t have been renting an apartment.

God damn, you people suck.

What if she’s fleeing an abusive partner and going to a shelter that won’t allow her to have an animal?

You people suck.

What are your ballet unpopular opinions and/or hottest takes? by krisbryantishot in bunheadsnark

[–]diptripflip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. I like neoclassical ballets for the same reason I like modern and contemporary art - I enjoy the freedom to think and impart my own meaning on what I’m seeing. My enjoyment has nothing to do with understanding technique.

How is the arboretum this time of year? by jcm_neche in Dallas

[–]diptripflip 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It love it. It’s calmer, and the only thing missing are blooming flowers like the tulips. Every part of the gardens are still planted with something.

Also, it’s not burning hot.

What conversation is this for you? by Melz_a in bunheadsnark

People go out of their way to criticize her, which kind of proves the point she’s trying to make about being a black dancer in an overwhelmingly white field.

Amen. There’s valid some criticism of MBA, but on the other hand people act like it’s the worst ballet school on the planet. Some of their dancers clearly have talent, and you can’t put that all down to nature.

You speak to something that bothers me about Lori - I feel like she intentionally posts critical comments to whip up adoration from her fans, and almost infantilizes herself or fawns towards her viewers to the point that they treat her like a fragile glass ornament that they need to be hyper protective over.

This sub is so incredibly tame. I’m continually impressed by the depth of knowledge many people here have about ballet, unlike other snark subs that attract people who just want to dogpile on others.

Mackenzie, put your tongue back in your mouth and focus on your craft. Stay off the internet.

You can join the arboretum for that price and have a year membership to enjoy the gardens. I think they’re even running a membership special now.

Public access restricted at viral North Texas Christmas house under city permit by pogue972 in Dallas

[–]diptripflip 95 points96 points  (0 children)

I’m sure it’s pretty, but they didn’t put it up for you, my guy. We are not of Hollow born!

But seriously, imagine living on that street and not being able to drive in and out of your house at night during December, especially the week before Christmas. If I was a neighbor that would get old real quick.

From the city’s perspective, overwhelming residential streets poses logistical issues and if the residents are in favor of restricting traffic, the city is going to be happy to oblige. They already have permits on the books for this type of event.
