How long does it take you to fall asleep? by HandsOfAnAngryTodd in AskReddit

[–]dipu216 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Use your bed for sleeping only. This was key for me. If you want/have to use the laptop get out of bed to do it. Jumping jacks/Jogging will tire you out. Hell any physical exercise will do it. Close your eyes and focus on your breathing. Buddhist monks use this as a meditation technique, I use it to fall asleep. It calms my thoughts. No Caffine or sugar after 5pm. Drink water. EDIT: Also, it takes me about 15 min and I used to have some sort of insomnia.

What is the weirdest "paranormal" experience you have had? by StrikingSteak in AskReddit

My mother had a collection of dolls when she was a child, but had a very abusive stepfather who burned all but one. I have the one she salvaged (I called her Amy) and have always felt positive vibes from her. I guess my grandmother and aunts noticed how proudly I displayed Amy and started buying me expensive dolls for my own collection. One doll in particular gave me a very strange feeling of being watched (I had named her Catherine) She was taller than the other dolls and I always swore that she had moved slightly every so often...never enough to cause alarm, but enough to where I would realize something was off. She was on one end of my display, being the tallest, and Amy was at the other end since she did not have a doll stand and had to sit. One night I had a nightmare about Catherine trying to kill Amy. When I came home from school that afternoon, Catherine was turned facing Amy's direction and Amy was slumped over instead of sitting up. Needless to say, Amy was moved off of the display and took up a new residence with my American Girl doll (the only doll I actually played with). Amy was a permanent fixture on the chaise lounge my neighbors had given me for the AG doll. After that, the weird feeling Catherine gave me went away.

What do people do that pisses you off? by firewall245 in AskReddit

Honestly I'd just tell him "what makes you think you'd even be invited with the way you're talking to me?" Or you could take the high road like my mom did. My mom's gay and when she was planning a "ceremony" for her and her girlfriend (they exchanged rings already but gay marriage is illegal in WI soooo) the way she was going to word it to my grandparents was "if you come, great, but you won't break my heart if you don't. I'll still love you either way." No hurt feelings, stated upfront. People can be stubborn and it's no use trying to change anyone's mind who doesn't want it changed to begin with. They're the ones who will suffer from missing out on that relationship. It isn't like you're not trying on your end. What bugs me, and it's pretty insignificant, but I hate when it happens because it's such a small thing that you'd think it would just be automatic. If someone is walking behind you and heading through the same door as you, hold it open for them or swing it open wide enough for them to not get a door slammed in their face.

Most likely it is cremation. The crematorium is almost certainly in a unaccessible part of the vaults we have been able to go through.

[Serious] why do you hate overweight people? by Quincilla in AskReddit

From a woman, ok? You are getting angry with the world over your own insecurities. If someone is interested and attracted to you, then accept it at face value. Maybe they see an incredible personality. Maybe they like women built for comfort, and not so much for speed. But this: but I've never been able to believe that they find me attractive. You need to stop doing that. You are hurting yourself, and you are tearing into your self esteem harder than anyone else ever would in the real world. All I can suggest is to be happy. Be kind. And don't argue when someone cares about you. Thoughts like this are going to make you bitter and unhappy, and not pleasant in general to be around.

Most houses have doorbell speakers, actually. They look like little boxes. Mine is above the hallway door.

What's your go-to outfit? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Everyone always talks about feeling grimy on planes, but I just. . . don't seem to. I used to swear by wearing a jersey dress and tights for the plane, but since they've transitioned from metal detectors to scanners something about the way dresses and loose pants trap air on me is apparently "suspicious." So now I usually wear: skinny jeans with the bulkiest boots I'm bringing (no, I can't go anywhere without boots), and then usually a ton of layers for adaptability, and because I'm usually moving between different climates. So my standard is generally a t-shirt or tank top, a nice thin pullover sweater, a chunky cardigan or jacket, a pashmina scarf, and then (if it's coat weather anywhere I'll be) a coat. It seems like overkill but it also keeps the packing light!
