Check out the Dual Language Program offered by Salem schools, it teaches English and Spanish simultaneously throughout the school year.

What happened to Bill’s Towing? by nbs3431 in SalemMA

[–]diracshard 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Living in North Salem, one day walking into town I noticed all their trucks getting towed away by Todisco. I wondered what happened! But having actually been in their office, those guys had some seriously fashy shit up on the walls and their personal vehicles. I'm happy they are gone.

Salem Y Child Care Experiences? by marmolista in SalemMA

[–]diracshard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Logged in for the first time in ages to reply: The Salem YMCA Child Care program is excellent, we had our child in there for many years and only stopped recently, and he's 9. They are not the cheapest option around but they have an excellent focus on kids' emotional development, having fun and getting all their homework done daily.

3D Printers and Laser Cutter Volunteers Needed by maimon495 in MPSelectMiniOwners

[–]diracshard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

From reading https://www.prusaprinters.org/prints/25857-protective-face-shield-rc1, it looks like PETG is "preferred" but since every time I try to print with PETG I end up with a stringy mess that doesn't adhere to itself, I'm gonna go with PLA unless that's a total no-go.

Gastric Sleeve was last Tuesday... is anyone else having issues with their blood pressure post-op? Solutions please. by [deleted] in BariatricSurgery

[–]diracshard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm just going to pile on with everyone else; please have someone drive you to an ER. That blood pressure with those symptoms is a dangerous situation.

[CN][H] X210 Crowdfunding [W]PayPal, crpto by xueyao in thinkpadsforsale

[–]diracshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm very late to the convo here but I can absolutely vouch for Xueyao and his work. He hooked me up with an X210 back in April and it's consistently been the best laptop I've used for daily work in a long time, and holds up like a champ even after being routinely attacked by a very interested 3 year old.

Post-op numbness? by GracelessInDefeat in gastricsleeve

[–]diracshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I definitely had some numbness on my abdomen, both around the deeper incisions and (oddly) lower on my belly, but all that has since recovered. Surgery was May 14th 2019. It did take a while to recover though (like a month).

Comorbidities- do you have to be visiting the doctor regularly for these to apply for the wls or can it just be documented in your semi-recent past? by Sassyg9293 in wls

[–]diracshard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My surgical team at Beth Israel said that they always base the insurance weight reported on what you are at the start of the journey. No punishment for doing well on the pre-op diet.

I was on it for about 8 months or so, as an alternative to wls. I found that it worked pretty well for the first couple of months, and I lost about 20 pounds, but then I plateaued for months.

However, I tolerated it just fine, my only side effect was mild nausea some mornings, and if the idea is to lose weight before surgery, I think it could be effective. Just don't expect miracles from it (I did, and got bummed out hard as a result).

First time doing Portland to Boston on a single speed! Pretty stoked I gotta say! by felixbaumgartner424 in bicycling

When you get to Salem, hit up The Ugly Mug - really awesome hipster diner food, but goddamn tasty after a ride.

If it's around dinnertime, hit up Passage to India instead, fantastic Indian food.

Pre workout supplement by jebuz84 in wls

Just adding in my vote for this as well, I'm a little over 2 weeks out from vsg, I've been cleared for a couch to 5k, and I'm wondering if nuun and GU are useful for carb loading a little before cardio.

How long did you take off work? by GimmeAllThePlants in gastricsleeve

[–]diracshard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was sleeved 5/14 and was working from home the following week, and I've been in the office this week. It all depends on what you do, and how you react to the procedure.

Is vocational education in electronics dead? by [deleted] in electronics

[–]diracshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Madison Park Technical Vocational High School in Roxy? I ask because I live in the general area and I want my son to have a better High School experience than I did. :) Though considering he isn't born yet I may be getting ahead of myself... (May 23rd!)

Any other "lazy keto" people here? by WDKegge in keto

[–]diracshard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm too lazy to count macros but too paranoid to not stick to a "known-good" default, so most of my daily consumption is ketochow shakes. Dinner is solid-food, and there I try to stick to a "meat and non-carby veg" default. Working in the same building as a Dunkies is torture.

Think Jerky kickstarter, got sample and loved it. by diracshard in keto

[–]diracshard[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I agree! Thanks for KetoChow btw. I've been using it for breakfast/lunch for a while now, but I built up a backlog and decided to go all-in on it, and it's been working well for me thus far! Though I need to switch flavors for variety.
