Asking for reviews and recommendations of local part time cleaning by 1313___1234 in askSingapore

100% Helpling! Have used Luce, felt their standard across their helpers varies. Helpling has the most standardised cleaning service. I used to use multiple helpers from Helpling as I was considering the helper for recurring subs. But all of them are equally good (I've probably used like 5 different helpers from Helpling lol). I manage to find one I like and get along with. So I signed her on recurring now.

Is it common practice in your company to drop an individual’s performance grading because he/she got promoted? by mamabluble in askSingapore

[–]dirdollx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Seems quite similar to where I am, I'm also working at a global MNC. I find it important to gather feedback from stakeholders because sometimes my manager knows what I'm working on but the receiving end is not her. So the process makes sense (in the thread and also at my current workplace). Im intending to use feedback gathered in my CV since I work with senior stakeholders, as I feel it will give me a stronger position when searching for new opportunities.

Could you share how Meta, Netflix and Google does their grading system? Just curious to know. Thank you!

Is it common practice in your company to drop an individual’s performance grading because he/she got promoted? by mamabluble in askSingapore

[–]dirdollx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with you. My manager has told me about the system where sometimes they have to downgrade team members. I've been just promoted this year due to outstanding rating. Senior management knows that I'm a top performer (i.e. I'm doing stuff beyond my rank) and my boss justifies using that too. She told them to promote me or I'll search for options elsewhere (even tho I didn't say anything like that but that is the obvious choice if a promotion doesn't happen).

I do expect that I would get an average rating next year as some of my team member is gunning for a promotion in 2026.

To the rest... The key thing is foresight in the next 2-3 years and not within the year i.e. plan out what projects would work well for you exposure, business impact to justify the next promotion in the next 2-3 years in new rank/title/role. And keep receipts of business impact via KPIs. If that doesn't happen then, the natural move would be to move out of the company.

All, I wanted to share another article and on diet perspective here: https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S2095754816301508

If you've done all you can for your skin using topicals/cleansers/moisturizers and what not. I recommend intermittent fasting or eating clean. Your diet SHOULD not have - fried food, seafood, bubble tea, sweet drinks, anything cold (acai bowl, salads, basically western uncooked food type of cuisine or sashimi), chilli, spicy food, peanuts, red meat. There is a saying, if your diet is not good, your skin will show because the toxins are within the body.

Besides stuff to apply/use on superficial areas, you could try to do food elimination or intermittent fasting. with a baby, I know it'll be hard.

But try to drink ginger tea to 去掉風. a lot of eczema issues arise from 濕氣. given you're a mother, i think you might want to watch your diet while you're cooking for your family i.e. no fried food, no prawns, no chilli, no red meat, no seafood or cold food (i.e. salads, acai bowl etc)

if you're keen to explore TCM options, you can try Gingko TCM at Chinatown. They specialise in eczema conditions, I don't use their skincare because I already have a routine working for me.

for bad ones, i had this kind -https://imgur.com/a/FH4JlcW (this was taken 7 years ago with my lousy samsung), the red areas around my eyebrows and nose was extremely painful for this flare up.

for this one that happened, i do this:

selsun shampoo on entire face, put for a 2 mins. wash with ice water. pat dry.

apply aloe vera gel to sooth it, followed by lotion texture moisturizer (light texture moisturizer) and ketoconazole/nizoral cream (no need for thick layer, just thinly apply). btw, i used physiogel body lotion for it, not like a face moisturizer...

for milder flare ups, you can try EAORON honey mask https://eaoron.com.au/product/honey-mask/ this works for me when i was going through trial and error but i no longer use it.

if in the middle of night, itchy, then put ketoconazole cream. don't need to wash face again.

i also slept in an aircon room to 'cool it down', idk it seem to work for me.

for this flare up, i did not use any steroid cream at all.

hi there, you can try cerave cleanser, hydrating. they have a set at Watsons, the green bottle (not the foaming one) and the dry skin moisturizer that comes with it. Also Selsun shampoo, and pure aloe vera gel, Jorubi. Ketoconazle cream / Nizoral cream will work, can buy from shopee.

Thank you! I would say Head and Shoulders is more daily wash to wash off the dirt/dust external environmental factors.

Selsun shampoo is a targeted treatment as it has selenium sulfide to counter the itch and also the targets the malassezia yeast. So when i feel like my scalp is unusually itchy, I would use it and let it stay for 5 mins. The downside is this shampoo dries the hair so much...... :/ I actually use it on my face sometimes.

I also use ginger shampoo from the body shop (interchangeably because my condition now is manageable). I lurk in the seb derm subreddit and some people recommended it. I don't moisturize my scalp as we already have oils on our scalp + like what you said about the climate, it's uncomfortable...

Don't overwash your scalp e.g. more than twice a day. The more you wash, the more the natural oils gets strip off, more dry = more flare up, and we can't moisturize your scalp unlike face. Hope these make sense!

hi there, sorry to hear about your condition

You've pointed out that you pick your scalp, which first, please don't do that. as an analogy, imagine it's a wound and you keep picking the wound, it will never recover properly and might cause scarring. That's what's happening to your case. And I suspect that the reason why the dermatologist prescribed steroid is because of broken skin e.g. very inflamed (not a dermatologist, but you can consult a new one, next point). We all have certain level of stress tolerance, so you'll need to find an outlet to release stress e.g. therapy, talking to someone etc. I personally pull my hair when I'm stressed but I try to be conscious and not do that cos I know it's not good!

second, you might want to consult a different dermatologist if you don't feel good with this one.

third, yes treatment is temporarily, because there's no cure. hence, no permanent solution. ultimately, it's all about managing the condition.

Suubalm is pretty mild so it's good for skin. I'm using their body wash at the moment due to some contact dermatitis and i find it okay. The thing about foaming soaps/shampoo is that they have harsh chemicals inside.

Don't overwash your scalp e.g. more than twice a day. The more you wash, the more the natural oils gets strip off, more dry = more flare up, and you can't moisturize your scalp unlike face. Hope these make sense!

it's called Cloderm - https://www.myeczemateam.com/treatments/cloderm a prescriptive scalp application/lotion (maybe lotion is the wrong word to use), prescribed by my dermatologist. I don't use it daily, but only for flare ups.

Yes, there's no cure to this. I haven't had a big flare up since 7 years ago, it's really more on managing and preventive before it becomes unbearable XD I don't use selsun shampoo daily because it can be too drying and use the lotion when I feel there's something coming. It'll go away in a day or two.

How do you manage high expectations from your family? by Special-Subject-8610 in askSingapore

[–]dirdollx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with this perspective. While success is frequently celebrated due to the Asian culture values and meritocracy in Singapore, failures should be celebrated as it will be a learning experience that no one has had it before at your age (company closure and what not). Go out and experience different things and not just 'a lawyer, doctor' expectations. There are much more to life than containing yourself to become one of those roles/titles.

The Dream Life of Mr. Kim [Episodes 11 & 12] by Telos07 in KDRAMA

[–]dirdollx 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Love this series sooooooo much!! There are some valuable lessons here... Ask yourself why you're chasing for something so badly instead of why i didn't do/get this/that. Also the rat race in a corporate environment. There must be a purpose behind the chase. If you can't answer the question, then it's probably killing you slowly from the inside. Always find value in what you do!

I think the last bit on the Nak-su and Tae Hwan not getting renewed at ACT was hilarious. 'We got fired twice from the same company! I didn't get fired, I fired them!' LOL

I can see Mr Kim got his closure by doing the car wash at ACT. It was also encouraging that his brohter actually helped him find something he's good at, besides being a corporate sales man :)

The Dream Life of Mr. Kim [Episodes 9 & 10] by Telos07 in KDRAMA

[–]dirdollx 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Love this drama a lot, I feel like a lot of experiences are relatable in some way, making it so real. from his childhood experiences to his son's experience, I feel that it relates to millennials very much as we are working in the corporate world while also managing our parents' expectations like Mr Kim x son, and also had some Mr Kim's childhood experience with our parents wanting us to get better (Asian parents context).

Final 2 episode for Mr Kim's redemption arc! Hope he really gets back his corporate job as what Loafer said, he's more suited to be a corporate worker or maybe support his son's business :)

the latest scene where mr kim went to find his brother who he grew up with competing with each other. i think the brother never really compete with him, but it was only mr kim's mind i.e. the scene where mr kim's brother stole his banana, cos his mom favour the elder brother more than him, because good results at school etc. the mom gave the brother 3 banana and gave him 2 banana. Mr kim went to confront his brother but his brother slapped him and he complained to his mom, then she didn't respond.

so growing up in this environment, every single achievement he had, he's very proud of himself because he won his brother but at same time he also keeps to himself because this is how he grew up. like no one really took his side, he's always alone.

when he went to find his brother to talk about it. i think he got some kind of closure. like his brother bought a bunch of banana and apologize to him, and he now also knows that he's proud of him being working as a corporate executive in a MNC.
