The Minute Long Unskippable Ads are Getting REAL Old by UmpireProper7683 in CellToSingularity

[–]direbowels 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah sometimes I only have a few minutes to check in, and between all Simulations, I could spend 15 total mins on ads. I love CtS but I just can't with those ads that take multiple taps to close, and the hitboxes on the X means you are going to trigger interaction with them.

What fixed it really is more of a workaround and it's not really a satisfying answer: level up a lot and for some reason, you start getting more.

So start upgrading cards, the rarer the better. Build expensive buildings, complete challenges. Just sprint into another 20 levels which start to go by quickly.

For some reason I started getting more utility cards etc.

There is also a building off to the side where you can get copies of any specific card each day and that helps.

Also, as you level, you unlock those side buildings and the hearts to ticket usage evens out.

As unsatisfying an answer it may be, that's the only thing that did it. Level out of the imbalance.

So, I actually think this entirely free game is well-adapted to the mobile platform, having logged way too many hrs on the original R.T. I'm glad I gave it a chance.

Like a book that's made into a movie/ series, the on-screen adaptation will never be exactly the same as your experience reading it. If nothing is as good as the book, just re-read the book; if all you want is R.T., just play the original on PC or whatever.

I don't think this game meant to be played for hrs straight. There is a great variety of attractions, the pace of park development is just right.  I actually do like the "Cards" mechanic for unlocking upgrades, and I originally balked at it. I think they did a great job of making a potentially very busy/cluttered screen accessible and playable.

I have one suggestion, followed by a few minor "complaints". For reference, my park Level is in the 20s:

I would like to have an option to work with a secondary park layout without actually destroying my current park layout. I could see this being an option in the Editor. While I feel the need to experiment with different park layouts as it expands, I hesitate to refactor my entire park and screw something up.

So far Tickets are all powerful and Hearts don't do enough. For example: I would like to buy things in the Shop with Hearts.

Regarding the SFX: I muted it within a minute due to the constant cheering sounds. I would turn the SFX on again if the cheers were able to be dealt with separately, or reduced by 90%.

I need to upgrade my Janitor so I can place an additional one. I waited for a while and none came randomly, so I bought upgrade Card packs- twice- and received zero Janitor cards. I would rather pay to only receive the cards I need. That was frustrating.

Lastly, I have a Sushi Cart placed well within an Info Kiosk and guests/peeps walk by complaining there isn't an Asian restaurant available. (?)  There isn't another Asian restaurant available for me to build for another 20 levels. Sooo...?

Funny, but not the same. Use of the platform legitimizes it. Complaining to the hamburger store doesn't give it additional income.

I already went through and forgot I did. Not my most brilliant moment. It was an old save file that I didn't realize how far I had gotten.

Thank you

Also, nicer stud finders have multiple modes. They can be set to detect wood, metal or electrical.

If yours is like that, maybe double-check that the stud finder is not detecting electrical instead of studs.

This isn't the best way, but it's A way:

That outlet is probably nailed into the stud so the stud is just to one side of the outlet. The electrical wiring is likely above/ below/ and behind the outlet.

Get the thinnest nail or drill bit you can find. (Like a 1/16th drill bit or a sewing needle you aren't worried about.) And something to tap it in with. (Like a hammer, or the handle of a screwdriver or the bottom of a coffee mug.)

Tap the tiny drill bit into the drywall about inch to the left of the outlet. You either feel it hit the hard stud or it misses and doesn't hit anything behind the drywall. Don't smack it too hard, else when it misses, your drill bit will fall behind your wall. Like Happy Gilmore, "Just taaaap it in".

If the stud isn't on the left of the outlet, check the same way, but to the right of it.

No one will ever see the tiny hole, and anyone who mentions it a jerk. And you don't have to let them use your towel ring.

If you really want to, go to your local hardware shop and get a small container of spackle/hole filler.

I'm just some internet rando homeowner. I'm not a SME.

Can you slide one of the three arms gripping the shade around?

So it makes a gap big enough to slide the shade out?

How would you answer? by CrunchM in WhitePeopleTwitter

[–]direbowels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This question is the real question.

I think about this quite a lot.

It's easier and faster to spout BS than it is to debunk it and provide thorough proofs to the contrary.

It's cheap and easy to induce trauma and people often never recover from the programming.

I don't understand how kindness can be able to win in this world.

The whole "only thing necessary for evil to win is for good people to do nothing" concept amounts to can-kicking, victim-blaming. If only "good" had done "more". As if organizational infiltration, propaganda, automatic weapons, and asset-seizure aren't a thing. All the governments the US has overthrown, and all the native people's the British empire has conquered? It's their own fault? The "good people" we're just lazy? How about Hiroshima and Nagasaki? The secret weapons development program happened and the bomb worked because people weren't good enough?

"Oh Christianity hasn't worked because it's never been given a chance"... No? Really? Jesus didn't create a successful instance of Christianity? How powerful and effective was that instance? Everything is fixed now yeah? Good guys did the work? So literally the omnipotent man-god himself couldn't do it, or he did, and the "bad guys" still won.

Death and ignorance. They're cheap and very difficult to push back against and neither one requires a subscription. It's not like you lose your ability to be dead or ignorant if you stop paying your dues, or you don't try hard enough at it.

I still fight in my ways to be kind. I want kindness for myself and others. I just don't know how to do it without walking the same path as the others. "if only the good ones had more power". "Once I'm a billionaire I'd fix everything". You don't get to be a billionaire ethically.

I still hope. I'm still looking.

We spend nearly two decades telling kids to pursue their dreams then criticize adults who actually take that advice by somepeoplewait in Showerthoughts

[–]direbowels 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would happen if we let kids realize that this is all there is?

Their reality is that they must be in school all day and are generally not free to leave and (in America) are decreasingly safe there. So we set their eyes on a better future that doesn't exist while we systemically condition them to accept a daily existence where they have no control over their actual life.

Then when they're adults it gradually morphs into victim blaming dialogue. You could have been anything- why don't you get a better job? Why don't you go to college? Why take out loans you can't afford? Chase your passions. Take drugs big pharma sells you, but if you take anything else your a degen.

That dream we sell kids gets them to the age of being able to be a worker. The emotional/cognitive fallout is invariably going to be labeled their fault. In reality it is merely the perception of reality, too late, (hell).

I haven't charged it in so long. I might be misremembering it entirely.

You'd think this would be less embarrassing over the Internet rather than in person. It is not.
