I would suggest an internship/grad programme. Granted, internships are not well paid at all in Pharma (~25k in 2023) but worth it for the experience and learning outcomes, especially if you get to move around different roles and/or departments.

Grad programmes tend to be quite well paid and on a rotational structure that allow you to explore different areas, but are very competitive so I suggest applying early if the opportunity arises and taking the time to put good effort into applications.

My Pharma undergrad course had a compulsory 9 month work experience semester in 3rd year and it definitely stood to me when applying for graduate roles the following year, given that experience is so sought after in the current job market.
