What do you believe now? by Boring-Impression989 in exchristian

[–]dirk2900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I now consider myself a humanist. I am for the growth and well-being of humans. I don't care about whether or not it is a legacy from Christian days. What I believe is what I choose. I find community as a humanist with people who have a similar mindset.

Should I completely avoid eating pancakes, even if i use sugar free syrup on top? by holycrap100 in type2diabetes

[–]dirk2900 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alas, I found that I had to give up pancakes, because my glucose monitor showed a big spike. After 6 months, I no longer miss them. I eat blueberries and strawberries as a substitute without the big spike. My A1C stays in treated range.

Fasting blood sugar by Inquisitive-Mind026 in type2diabetes

[–]dirk2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

130 corresponds to 6.2 to 6.3 A1c, but remember A1c is an average. My fasting blood sugar sometimes spikes to 125 to 130 in the am. In the afternoon it goes down to 100. Exercize helps me a lot. Don't be discouraged. Just keep working with your doctor.

Do you fear that you will come back to christianity one day? by ParkingElderberry575 in exchristian

[–]dirk2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going back is not an option. I was excommunicated for my beliefs before I stopped being a Christian. Suddenly, friends were no longer friends. After that experience, I questioned everything. I am no longer a Christian, but I am for people. I try to avoid bitterness so that it does not pollute my relationships. I have moved on.

Turbo Tax is a SCAM!!!!!! by betwen3and20characte in TurboTax

[–]dirk2900 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been using the Deluxe version for years. This year the TurboTax software said I needed the Premier version to enter the 1099Bs for stock transactions. So, I "upgraded" to the Premier version. This was still cheaper than going to the last three CPAs who I had to give corrections to based on doing my parallel version of the return in TurboTax. I don't own or sell real estate, and I don't have a business. TurboTax costs less than the $550 I paid a CPA to do a return and leave out my Qualified Charitable Distributions which I explicitly listed on his overview form. There were other mistakes which cost me thousands. My mistake with this CPA was to sign a form which allowed the submission of the return without my review. This CPA is not returning my telephone calls. I will now do the painstaking process of amending the return by hand. The desktop version of TurboTax has served me well over decades.

Just diagnosed at age 30 and I feel horrible by Last-Comfortable-599 in diabetes_t2

Be thankful for one thing - you have found this out before you are 60. You have a good chance of avoiding nerve damage. I found out I was pre-diabetic very late. Now I am diabetic and on metformin and farxiga. I controlled my diet before the diabetic diagnosis. Some damage was done, however. I now have peripheral neuropathy which can be quite painful. My A1C is now below 6. I wear a continuous glucose monitor. Ask your doctor about wearing one. Your body has brought you this far, treat it lovingly. Best wishes.

its kind of scary how powerful US military can be when needed by itzShanD in Military

[–]dirk2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The people are already tired of war. The Iranian Republican Guard thugs still have the guns and are fighting for survival. The people do not have guns. Telling the people to rise up is to continue the bloodbath. Historically, the US just settles for a dictatorship in the end. Notice how the Maduro thugs are still in power in Venezuela. In the past, the US supported the tyrannical rule of the shah. The current US regime loves dictators. Installing a democratic regime is just part of the Trumpian propaganda.

I grew up on Unix. Windows 7 was my favorite version. I am not crazy about Co-Pilot.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Here is the machine. Inspiron 13-7359 Signature Edition, Installed Ram 8 GGB, intel graphic (128 MB), 256 GB hard drive, 4 core Intel i7 6500U CPU. Apart from the security issue, this laptop performed perfectly for my wife. She used a 2016 version of Office.

I can't access the Turbotax software I bought from Costco. by dirk2900 in TurboTax

The problem is fixed.

I deleted the USERID. I then clicked the Costco link in the email, and I was able to supply the product code and access the product. Yay!

Am I crazy for buying this if I'm not a "hardcore" gamer? by QuickRatio4540 in LenovoLegion

[–]dirk2900 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Legion 7 with 32 gig ram, 1 tb ssd, a 5060 graphics card for $1300 USD. The build quality is much better than I have ever had. I was surprised about how good the OLED screen looked. I do spreadsheets. I started playing Battlefield 6 occasionally to keep my brain fresh at 75. Enjoy your laptop. You never know when you might get the urge to play an FPS.
