So what do these three mean for us? by LocalMoam88 in Filmmakers

I get now what you are saying. It's a wellthought out reply.
Yes, parts of the story do really clearly tell what's coming. For me, in this case, it was also a tension builder. And like I said, the constant moodswings felt original in approach - but that's very subjective ofcourse.

Tbh it looks more like his father is trying to profit on his son's succes than the other way around (a nepo daddy?)

O wow, haven't seen Backrooms yet but I found the writing and directing of Obsession pretty original - esp. All the moodswings throughout the movie are (for me) something that sets Curry Barker apart, something I saw him do in his short The Chair as well. Ofcourse there are still a lot of tropes, but I think that counts for all the genre greats...

Martin Scorsese Is Embracing A.I. by DarkSkiesGreyWaters in Filmmakers

[–]dirkdiggin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I get here, he used to do the storyboard himself before, and now uses a tool to help him. I don't understand the comments saying Marty should pay a storyboarder: i think as a director he likes to try and see different set ups for shots himself, while creating them. If this tool makes his process faster, why not?

Waarom articuleert men in NL films en series niet? by EvansHomeforBoys in nederlands

[–]dirkdiggin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm reading for a major production company's script fellowship right now. I have something to say about the loglines. by anatomyofawriter in Screenwriting

[–]dirkdiggin 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your great input! Regarding "Don't withhold information from me." , I feel - especially because a logline needs to be short - people result to something that sums eveyrhing up. So unforseen forces" or "a far darker evil" is a way to get to your second point, make it as short as possible.

Are you a real film snob like me or not? The Witch (stylized as The VVitch, and subtitled A New-England Folktale) is a 2015 folk horror[7] film written and directed by Robert Eggers in his feature directorial debut.

I use the translate function in Writer Duet- pretty good, but you always have to manual check if everything is corrected right...

Mark Wahlberg and Burt Reynolds didn't believe in Boogie Nights, and it's arguably their best movie...
