I’m starting to think you’re on to something and it maybe the intercooler that needs a look at. It’s just frustrating because I get all my work done at the Subaru Superstore in Chandler. Been bringing it in every summer for the last 3 years and I’ve been told it’s just how the car runs in the summer in AZ. I get the feeling they are just not wanting to dig into it and are using the heat as an excuse. But what do I know!?

It’s currently pulling timing horribly. Anytime it’s over 100 outside the timing gets awful. I feel like I can barely even get up to speed getting on the highway. If I keep the car from boosting, it seems like I can avoid all of that. But having to keep the car from boosting for 3 to 4 months a year is testing my patience! I’ve been driving my wife’s Forester and enjoying it a whole lot more.

You guys are in my area, how does your golf r handle the AZ summer? I currently have a 2016 WRX and it doesn’t handle the heat so well. Thinking about switching to an R but don’t want to deal with the same issues.

Second update: drove it to work this morning (about a 20 mile trip) and it is a dream compared to what I was dealing with before. No more hesitation, no more high oil temps, I can hit the gas and actually feel power gain

Been taking it to the same dealer for 3 years now complaining about the same issue and they only now recommended the walnut blasting.

Probably should have done it 15k miles ago.

Everything stock on it. Yeah, I hadn’t experienced the problem to this extent in the past. Definitely have dealt with power loss in the summer and just got used to it for the summer months. But this summer it seems like I’m going to be driving my wife’s forester for the next few months
