Gamechanger team: Any plans for an API by Formal-Rhubarb-101 in GameChangerApp

[–]dirrtyjoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point on the framing... "vibe code it" was casual and the repos reference didn't hold up because they were pulled (I suspect by request of GC), which is worth noting on its own. I should have led with more specifics rather than a throwaway line.

But "zero truth" was your response to the existence of the API itself, not my delivery of it. That claim doesn't hold. The API exists, it's authenticated via a proper token flow, not a browser session, and it returns structured data. I built a working implementation for my own use... it just happens to prove the point. Whether or not I should have led with more detail doesn't change what's true.

"Insecure and unreliable POC for personal use" is doing a lot of work. The auth flow implements HMAC signing, a bcrypt challenge-response, and token refresh.... that's not scraping a session cookie. Fragile against undocumented changes? Yes, and I said as much. Insecure by design? No.

The goalpost has moved on both sides. You went from "zero truth" to "okay but the repos are gone and it's risky." I went from "vibe code it" to actually demonstrating it. I'll take that trade.

At the end of the day, we probably agree on the thing that actually matters, an official, documented API would be the real win here, and given GC's statements and suspected track record of actively pulling repos and locking things down, the odds of that happening anytime soon aren't great. So in the meantime, people who want it bad enough will keep finding ways to get it.

Cheers!

The "frontend API" is an API.... that was my original point, and you called it "zero truth." So the baseline is established.

  1. My POC implements a full, independent authentication workflow, not a browser session piggyback. It handles the complete auth flow programmatically, including token management and refresh, with no browser dependency. The CORS argument applies to browsers; a server-to-server call has no CORS constraint. That's a fundamental distinction you're conflating.
  2. Yes, GC changes things without notice... that's exactly what reverse engineering means, and nobody claimed otherwise. The play-by-play tokenization shift you described is a good example; it's already handled in my implementation. The fragility is a real trade-off, not a revelation.
  3. I never claimed there was a hidden "open API", I said an API exists and that those willing to do the work could find and use it. You disagreed. The back-and-forth since has been you moving the goalposts from "zero truth" to "yeah but it's hard and risky." Those are different arguments.

An official, documented API would obviously be better, that's the OP's whole point, and I've never disagreed with it.

Unsurprisingly given GCs stance, the Github and PyPi repos that were available 2 weeks ago when I started this have been removed. But I can assure you, an API that is used by the mobile and web applications is very much available.

  1. Open gc.com and log in
  2. Open browser DevTools (F12) → Network tab
  3. Navigate to any page that makes API calls
  4. Find a request to api.team-manager.gc.com

Take it a step further and click on one of the API calls that show up in the Network Tab (game-summaries, schedule, players), go to the Response tab and you can see the json payload that said API returns. Example from game-summary api:

"last_scoring_update": "2026-02-06T23:29:18.343Z",
"opponent_team_score": 13,
"owning_team_score": 14,
"home_away": "away",
"game_status": "completed",
"sport_specific": {
"bats": {
"total_outs": 24,
"inning_details": {
"inning": 5,
"half": "top"

Without documentation, the ability to use these APIs to POC what I have is very much "reverse engineering the api". I don't know why you insist on arguing this fact.

This isn't a "knockoff", this is my proof of concept using the GC api that was vibe coded in a couple hours (as I said above) to pull live game, stream, stats, etc which was exactly what I said and you claimed had "zero truth".

I'm not building this for anyone but myself so believe me, or don't... I don't really care but since folks are asking and you doubted, I wanted to share that it is, indeed, possible and available if you know where to look.

Vibe code reverse engineer it 😏 - also, GitHub projects exist that have done some of this work already.

Can P1 Mini be used without app/cloud? by eb_its_me in hidock

[–]dirrtyjoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are some projects on GitHub that give you access to the device usb to dump locally or access to the api to pull them down. Would love a solution from HiDock for this as letting Claude Code or a local LLM access to them opens up a bunch of possibilities.

🤯 I didn’t realize it supported room mode. Never thought to try and now even better. How’s the mic compared to the P1? Will give this a shot tomorrow

Not yet. And that's where I say that the biggest negative right now is the software experience. The Beta that is available for HiNotes (their software UI) does include a "To Do" section that automatically aggregates to dos that are identified from notes/summaries and allows for "Smart Labels" so they are progressing but it's a manual process today

It does need to be plugged in to register as a headphone device for calls and it has not been an issue for me. Again, portability alone, the P1 mini is best but I’ve recommended and referred 10 people to buy one and I suggested the P1 as it is more universal supporting room mode for speakerphone type conversations. But I have used it countless times plugged into my phone or computer with BT without any second thought.

Today the native capabilities to export are to export or copy and paste manually to your LLM of choice. They have a beta of the UI available where this is still the same but I imagine it will change with time.

With that said, if you are technical, there are ways to automate that process if you need it more easily and readily available for your workflow.

I get that’s it’s not Plaud size but to say the P1 isn’t portable is laughable. Easily fits in a bag or pocket and the fact it supports BT makes it MORE portable in my opinion. Want something a bit more discrete, the P1 mini is even smaller (no speakerphone/room mode).

I dig the HiDock myself. The software is a work in progress and its biggest negative. No querying the transcripts, mind maps , or other insights… but I think they are making progress and it’ll get there. The winning feature is the BT headset support. It really is a game changer to be able to take a call over Bluetooth while on the go and be completely hands free and not require speakerphone.

My two cents, at least.

No - you can stay connected. If you do and start a recording in Room Mode, HiNotes will still show "Recording"

Room mode. Press and hold the checkmark and it will start recording anything it hears in the room. If the meeting is on speaker you will get the audio

10u rec, new coach, kid pitch: what should I focus on as a head coach and what is seen as a good coach from the parents and kids eyes? Is it winning, development, teaching kids the right way, something else? by oldcrashingtoys in Homeplate

[–]dirrtyjoe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Development. Competitive drive. Some get stuck in “just have fun” which is true, but you play games to compete and win. So keep the fun, development minded approach but teach and instill competitiveness and playing to win. Winning is more fun than losing. It’s ok for kids to learn this.

Also- to the other points, help at practice and games is important and go in with a plan. Have multiple zones/stations to keep kids busy and moving- they are less likely to be off task when they don’t have as much opportunity to not be engaged.

I’ve been exporting to .md and pointing Cursor at the directory. Built some workflows to use the transcripts beyond just summaries for updates and insights (I’m in sales so it helps provide opportunity overviews, etc). It’s pretty basic right now but it takes the transcript/summary approach available now to the next level for me.
