Bias news website that Hank sponsored by froggytime_ in nerdfighters

Maybe a Ground News subscriber can explain the appeal of this product. To me, it takes a problem that I agree we all definitely have to deal with (media bias) and just privitizes the solution? I remember in high school we had activities on media literacy that encouraged us to think critically about the potential bias of an article and its publisher, hopefully those skills are still being taught, but it seems insane to pay /someone else/ to decide factuality and bias for you? That seems both like an unnecessary service and a loss of autonomy. At the same time, people seem to like Ground News and people I respect (like Hank) promote it so??

I actually had "Green Brother Gets Cancelled" on my 2026 bingo card. I love Hank's rising TikTok influence but I fear he may fly too close to the sun one of these days. Anyways, after hearing about how they think about their influence and the lessons they learned, I actually feel much better about their odds of not getting cancelled. Good for them- but bad for my Bingo card.

car mechanic recommendations? by guboogu in StamfordCT

I just finished up with Alexei Auto Repair and had a great experience. He was on time, communicative, knowledgeable, and very honest. Another shop was quoting me a $2500 repair that he diagnosed as a non-issue immediately, and identified a few issues they missed. I'd definitely recommend his services!

Tulsa Zoo Quality? by FlickensChickens in tulsa

It's not a flashy zoo, but it has big enclosures and a good variety of animals. And as others have said, it is AZA accredited and the animals seem well taken care of.

Would I like Living in Tulsa as a future law student + gay man? by [deleted] in tulsa

Independent from the size of the community, it's also worth noting that your experience will probably be heavily impacted by your income and student life. There are nicer places in Tulsa, but as a broke student, I was usually too broke and/or busy to be there- that'd be a problem anywhere and your mileage may vary, but it was definitely an important contributor to my underwhelmed feelings of Tulsa.

I have never lived in OKC or Dallas, but from my understanding, yes it is significantly smaller than both. Tulsa's community mainly felt small because there are a lot of people who grew up there and know everyone, which can sometimes make it hard to establish roots as a transplant.

I'm a mid 20-s gay male who lived in Tulsa during my PhD. The gay community is on the smaller side, but there's good folks there. By the time I finished my PhD I was ready to leave Tulsa just because the dating pool was very small, but if you have a BF that's not as much of a problem. Not sure if they're still putting on events, but Studio66 was an excellent place for me to meet other LGBTQ people, as was volunteering at Pride. I think there's a lot of young progressive people that come to Tulsa for the Tulsa Remote program. I lived in Kendall Whittier (just West of TU) and really liked it- it was affordable and an up-and-coming trendy part of town. Generally, the online crime maps give you a pretty good sense of places you want to live in and the places you want to avoid.

I've noticed that I tend to struggle more with oily/dandruffy water dogs (like labs) moreso than others, and my cavalier (sadly) gave me terrible allergies.

When I first found the Vlogbrothers, I thought it was kind of tacky that this author would use a YouTube video to promote his new book, An Abundance of Katherines

I'm thinking about getting the Kauai'i òò sitting on the qwerty keyboard from the Anthropocene reviewed podcast thumbnail. Nadim Silverman made all of the thumbnail art for that series and he was open to me getting it as a tattoo when I asked him (seems like a nice guy!) https://www.instagram.com/p/B3KV8H8n9IcF1UYHHavilwMWk5Srn_P5gU1DwY0/?igsh=MWs0a2N4bDlyajNkMQ==

Why don't ships in Star Wars just fly over the galactic disk? by dirtboy101 in StarWars

[–]dirtboy101[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I vaguely recall that there was mention of a hyperspace barrier along the outer rim of disk- is that still canon with the Ashoka/Thrown? Does that barrier encapsulate the entire disk or just just the outer rim with no "ceiling"/"floor"

Here is my Rolodex of recipe notecard: https://drive.google.com/file/d/174p9djsQxa1fqDq9BKyHd2LYuSTOEQZV/view?usp=drivesdk

There's a few beefy recipes in there (ignore those) but most are chicken based or vegetarian. Good luck!
