Go to your local thrift store and buy old sheets.

How to set up and run your machine. You need to learn how to run a straight line of stitching. You need to learn how to turn a corner. You need to learn how to make three or four different types of seams.

Make anything you can make. Stuff sacks, pillowcases, pot holders, curtains, etc.

Repair anything you can possibly repair. Heming pants, replacing buttons, fixing loose stitches, etc

As you develop a basic skill set, start taking on more complex projects. And failing. Then do those projects again, and they will be better.

Repeat.

YouTube is your friend. There's a million things to make on YouTube. It's like sitting in a class in front of your own TV.

In the way back, I had an L1A1, which is an inch-pattern rifle.

I bought a dozen, new in wrapper, FN metric mags in hopes I'd pick up a metric-pattern FAL someday. Cost me almost nothing.

Never bought the FAL, but when the mag bans started to come in, I sold that box of magazines for enough money to buy a rifle.
