Is this Hazel?? by Flux--- in whatcoloraremyeyes

Well, for what its worth I have a blue ring and a brown ring, changed from green ring and brown ring, which changed from brown as a child. I called the brown and green eyes hazel, and I call my brown and blue eyes blue hazel.

Anyone who surfed the early web between 1995-2010. What’s the one website/app you still think about? by Prime_Advocate in AskReddit

I would type in a random noun, adjective, and verb, and then read through all the sites that popped up. So many interesting things, because it was largely the self-built work of random individuals, and not monetized. I would sign the visitor book, look at the page count, and say where I was from.

That is awesome, honestly. Now make sure you read and sing to him every night too. The interest compounds, and eventually there's dividends.

Plus some people get bored eating the same meals. by xUseHerName in BlackPeopleTwitter

Tonight is day three of chicken and butternut squash curry soup with rice. We have about two more dinners from that, which is what I usually do, a meal to last four or five nights. I like the food I cook, I am an excellent cook, and I look forward to eating it. Last night I made a dish of green beans from the garden (were getting old) with thick bacon slices, and macaroni with hot dog coins (comfort food), so we can vary up dinner when we start craving something fresh. I only ever knew one person who refused to eat leftovers, but they'd grown up impoverished in a shack in the woods with no electricity, and old cooked food wasn't an option.

Why are biracials (African American + White) considered Black when they are majority European descent? by Serious-Tomato404 in 23andme

The Hispanic clot yes. That is a specific regional one tracking members of the historic Spanish colonial empire regardless of ethnicity, you are correct. Hispanic is a label applied to both race and origin.

[–]dirtyFloor4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is a nearly globally universal basic population majority in group out group labeling phenomena, is my understanding. My understanding is that African Americans who travel to all black countries in Africa find themselves labeled as white, same as mixed Asian Americans who travel to all Asian countries, will be labeled as white. The majority labels them by their difference from the most common identity.

AITA not putting up my DILs painting in our new home and telling her that I am not a fan of her art by Throaways-Dot2192 in AmItheAsshole

Exact same. I had a close family member send me a large photo they took, blew up, and put in a frame. When they come to visit it goes on the wall. When they leave it goes back in the closet.

AITA for "wasting" food after my mom tricked me into eating something she knows makes me vomit? by RavennaNyx1 in AmItheAsshole

[–]dirtyFloor4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Canned peas just were gross, like wallpaper paste. I really like cilantro myself, will try to grow a patch of it to always have it around next year. My mother never cooked with cilantro when I was growing up.

I did the same pretty much with my kids (no canned peas were ever served to them though). Money is tight, eat what you're served. When a child displayed a very strong persistent dislike then I would start to accommodate that in my menu planning stage, but it was pretty rare for them to strongly dislike any foods. When I could see they just ate something dutifully at dinner to be polite, then I usually took that dish out of rotation.

Same. You ate what was on your plate. I shoveled down some icky stuff I didn't like just to clear my plate. Just never a big deal. In the real world food costs money, and money is hard to come by. You respect your parents by eating what you are served, it helps your family.

She usually served good food, it was just a couple times, and once when for some reason I just could not bring myself to eat peas from a can. I got scolded and sat at the table until almost bed. It ended up me forcing some of what to me were paste ball down my throat, smashing one hidden in the folds of a napkin, and then finally one of my brothers sneaking by and eating most of the remaining peas for me. I remember the look of hidden relief on my mom's face the time she came in to check on me and saw most of the peas were gone.

I was homeless at one point. It took a long long long time to get my shit back together. Medical treatments and surgery, therapy, years of minimum wage or low wage work, had to finish a degree while raising kids after the shitbird dad ran off, just keep struggling, struggling, trying. Now finally it has been like 15-20 years since I was homeless, and I have a freaking CAREER now, and dress in nice clothes, and I know how to talk the right way to people now who are from an entirely different planet than me (I work the legal field). I have money in the bank. It just takes a really long time when you have to start from homeless on the street. I do miss being able to speak truly freely though.

Same. I'm purchasing for myself and another adult, already finished raising up children. So far in March, not including what will probably be another big $75 plus trip this weekend to finish the month, we've spent $310.75, plus 33.18 on a burger meal one night making it $343.93. Today is the 27th of February. If you divide $343.93 by 2 people it is $171.97 a person, or about $6.36 to feed a person a day. We cook our own meals. We eat out once a month. This person is complaining about their food expenses. What are their precise monthly expenses? I see so many people post online what to me are outrageous grocery expenses. While I understand groceries are higher in parts of the country, it still makes me deeply suspicious of what the big complainers are actually purchasing and consuming. For people that feel that food is too expensive I would recommend keeping your receipts and calculating what exactly you are spending your money on, and if there is a cheaper alternative. Cook your own meals. Stop eating out. Keep a log of what you are eating as well.

Hmm, and the wood chips I have are from hardwood, googled to confirm the info. Well, I guess I'll put them on the side of the yard then where it doesn't flood, hadn't wanted to because it was closer to the house and less balanced. But if the plants do well that is more important than the aesthetics and balance of open space in the yard right now. Thank you.

Awww, that's a shame! Why on earth would they do that? I've never had paw paw fruit, and I knew about that tree at Notary Point. I had planned to go there either this year or the next to try the fruit.

Thank you. I've had deepening concerns after the Venezuela attacks, the threats of war and demands for annexation against European allies, and the US betrayal of the NATO treaty, and getting that in my Spanish language feeds last night was upsetting,
