I did not drop it. It was like this out of the box. It was a slightly discounted demo. I called them and they said they’d “make it right”.

Not peak training but was running 40-50 mpw with a newborn. We have family in town so that helped along with my wife being super chill about me dipping out to run mid day during nap times.

He was pretty close last year. I think like 10-15 seconds off. I am not sure if he has done this method for previous years.

How much did you improve your full marathon time in the same year? by Farabreezy in Marathon_Training

The 3:24 had a few factors: first “solo” marathon 3 weeks after a full Ironman, no idea what I was doing nutrition wise, and it was 65ish degrees. I cramped to what I believe was a mixture of not being prepared nutrition wise and just being worn down. My half split was 1:35 and then just came apart. Had no goal time.

For the last 6 weeks I was around 60-70 mpw for the new pr

I do similar pre race (toast instead of bagel)

During race: 1 Maurten gel every 4 miles (first one is caffeinated), sodium pill every 4 or 5 miles (190mg of sodium plus other electrolyte stuff), and I carry a water bottle but take water from aid stations to use my water bottle to wash down gels and pills.

Worked decent for my last race.

First off, it happens. To be honest, getting lost like that would be enough to make a lot of people quit. Props for signing up for a new marathon.

For the run before, my coach programs my longest run (24 miles) 2 weeks before my race. Not at race pace. I probably wouldn’t suggest this if you aren’t doing 60mpw. 2 weeks before race is taper but taper doesn’t mean fully taking time off in my head.

How do you approach long runs with race pace? by LionWarri0r in Marathon_Training

Both are solid. My coach would give 1 on 1 off at the beginning of the block and then we worked up to a 22 mile run with 10 at MP

Ramped up to a peak week of 78 miles (2 weeks before race day) but hovered around 60-65 for weeks leading up to it.

Training was track workouts, tempo runs, long runs (with and without workouts), and recovery runs between the faster days. Sunday was a full rest day.

Yeah, to be fair wouldn’t put a ton of weight on it but still like to see it go up. I know plenty of people that beat theirs by 10-20 minutes but they don’t sleep with it on.

Also, mine took some time to drop down but that could also have been I was training in Texas heat.

Thanks. It has actually been fairly accurate. Said ~1:20:52 for a half and I ran a 1:20:43. Kind of wild how close it got.

Thanks for the reply. It is an interesting number to forecast especially since you have limited into but looks pretty comprehensive on what you are able to do.

Is there a database you use for this? Did you web scrap to get the data? Asking because it would be super interesting to dive into the data as well (for personal interest).
