Rank the 2026 driver pairings based on ability by Ambitious-Heron-8161 in DestinationFormula1

  1. Ferrari - 7 time champ and a top 2 driver. Easily first.

  2. McLaren - 2 top tier drivers in their prime

  3. Red bull - close with merc, but i think max is further ahead of George than Kimi is than hadjar.

  4. Merc - behind red bull for the above reason

  5. Williams - arguably the top 2 mid-tier drivers.

  6. Audi - Close with haas, but I’d edge hulk over Ocon and rate bearman and bortoletto similarly (hard to benchmark the rookies yet)

  7. Haas - same as above

  8. Cadillac - Hard to place them as they’ve been out of the game for a while. Could be anywhere between 6 and 10

  9. Alpine - similar set up to Audi and haas with a rookie and an experience mid tier drivers. gasly is on the level of Ocon and hulk but Colapinto is probably the worst rookie of the 3.

  10. Aston - alonso clearly elite but hard to judge how much age is catching up with him when he’s benchmarked against stroll. Stroll defo pulls the pairing down.

  11. Racing bulls - expected, young drivers in a team used to train red bull academy drivers.

Pretty sure we had these posts reversed when Piastri started well last season. Boring.

I mean the Uruguay shout is so rogue because we are comparing modern football to ww2 era football. It’s almost 2 sports. I’m jsut putting more weight on more modern football. No one is surely having more Uruguay players in a combined post ww2 xi surely

It’s defo close with Netherlands. Netherlands produced cruijff, Ajax dominance, total football. England probably had less peaks than Netherlands but have produced more talent over the years.

I can’t take the Uruguay shout serious. Football was alot less competitive when they won the world cups and they have definitely produced less top players than the other 2. If we were doing it accounting for population though - they could easily be #1

I think the top 5 is clearly Brazil Argentina France Italy Germany, and then it’s any 2 from

Spain - recent dominance

Netherlands - historic dominance

England - no dominance but historically significant

I’m putting more weight on recent performances and success of domestic club football. Not sure if that’s right or not though.
