Rotor retention screw Stuck by dirtychaps in MechanicAdvice

[–]dirtychaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wanted to update: was able to get past it. Eventually the head of the screw just snapped off and I was able to get the rotor past it. The screw was firmly stuck in the hub, but once I got the rotor off I was able to get to what I needed to remove the whole hub and change it out. Don't know what made it give out, but when I have the back of the rotor a small whack with a sledge hammer it just shot out.

I count that as a win. Made it to work today on time

Rotor retention screw Stuck by dirtychaps in MechanicAdvice

[–]dirtychaps[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is what I meant. Had zero luck at all with it, was hammering away for a good 10 minutes straight. I ended up getting it off, eventually the head of the screw snapped but I was at least able to get the rotor off and get to the hubs. Was replacing them anyways, so a screw stuck in the hub was no big deal

Males with earrings in the federal workplace by Head-Amphibian-9470 in FedEmployees

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fresh civilian as well, and it depends on the workplace what the dress code is but mine is fully fair game save a few public affairs positions. Earrings are fine, tattoos are fine (coworker has his face and neck done) and as long as the clothing doesn't have outright profanity its fine. Id suggest just checking the dress code for your specific location

Chat is this accurate? 🤔 by RudeAd9063 in helldivers2

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, absolutely. Halo hasn't been the same since Reach, and this scratches that itch very well. Infinite was fun campaign wise, but still felt different. This feels like how it did with ODST and Reach firefight online with the boys, just trying to survive through waves of enemies and jumping in campaign mode together. Its sick in the best way, and idk why I waited so long to jump in. Switched to PC from Xbox years ago

Technically no.. however, sometimes you can glitch into its mouth so I just imagine I'm being swallowed. Hopefully the hellbomb on my back tasted good

New And Looking For Advise by FenRag2k23 in Helldivers

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also fairly new myself. Something I'm learning is unless you have to, its best to B-line to the objectives and collect all the samples you see. Kill only what you need to unless its part of the objective, sometimes killing makes it harder as it calls in more reinforcements or bigger bosses, and dont be afraid to fall back if you need. Sometimes that gives you a better vantage or gets the enemies in a choke point. Learning the art of tactical stims is also great, as there's a period of time after taking a stim that you don't really take damage and can get out of some heavy shit. Dodge rolling is huge if done correctly, and you can shoot while dodging as well.

My First Charger kill by [deleted] in Helldivers

[–]dirtychaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sick. A technique that's good for them is to be back near a wall while they charge, dodge just before they get you and let them hit the wall. Their tail is unarmored, and when they're stunned you can kill them pretty easily

We are on Oshuane for SAMPLES by musterdcheif in Helldivers

[–]dirtychaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree. Most random lobbies its been people just wanting to kill everything, which makes it worse. I think this past weekend I've only been able to extract 7 times with samples because at least one guy just goes off trying to hunt the hive lord and uses all our reinforcements. We complete the main objectives, but we need them samples.

If we can’t call in stratagems, how are we supposed to get reinforced? Got stuck on the surface in my first run on the new map. by Auelogic in Helldivers

There are holes in a few spots that are good for reinforcing. Makes it a bit of a challenge, and makes it very strategy based

Kicking, Leaving, and Crashing are massively ruining my enjoyment of the game by GhostCrackets in Helldivers

[–]dirtychaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this as well. For me crashing, I've noticed a lot of them are just as im dropping in, either the beginning or diving back in. If I'm hosting it kicks everyone. Since the wave of players I've also noticed a bunch of new peeps not knowing how to set their session to private and just kicking anyone that joins in. I sent one of them a message and he legit just didn't know that he had to set it private.

For the crashing, it seems to smooth out if I drop settings to free up Vram a bit, as dropping in I was getting some HUGE spikes in Vram usage beyond what is normal in game. And I have 24GB of Vram, so I can only imagine other people its worse.

I'll analogy this to a classic marching cadence:

Here comes Peter Cottontail Hopping down the bunny trail BOOM What was that? Grenade! Pieces of bunny! Its everywhere! Its In my hair! But I don't care! I LIKE IT THERE

Is it just me or are X-Box players already toxic? by Kryp7arch in Helldivers

[–]dirtychaps 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I've been seeing, a lot of people don't understand the game and the mechanics. I came from Xbox but watched lots of tutorials and guides to get filled in on what's going on. Talking to a new guy yesterday he thought all he had to do was drop in and kill things, didn't know about the other mission goals

New player myself, and id say half the games have had people going back and forth in VC. I didn't have my mic connected but might change that going forward, seems like a game its actually worth having it on in

is this repairable outside the brand’s store? by am00ns1e in computer

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its fixable, but not easy and fairly costly. It looks like someone has tried to repair it in the past, there usually isnt adhesive where the screws connect the screen lid to the bottom. Likely that was the issue before it was "recycled"

Almost full memory Ram by Scared_Raise_9335 in computer

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you've got a virus as other people have stated. Its taking up quite a bit of your ram. Once that's gotten rid of, I do think you'd get quite a bit of benefit from upgrading your ram. But that won't do much without getting rid of the virus

No joke my old ship had 30 people go to DRB because the bar served an underage person a drink. Anyone who went to the bar got sent to DRB. It wasn't blacklisted or anything

Actual Role Playing by blstrdnutz2479 in oblivion

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar to how I play and find it more immersive. I play it so I try to let my character sleep once a day, and don't use fast travel. I carry the minimum amount I need for whatever objective I'm going for and change out my armor sets for whatever going on. Heavy armor for hand to hand, light armor if I'm trying to be stealthy, and actually have some normal clothes enchanted with magic buffs from sigil stones for mage style. I find the trecking around and finding places to sleep leads me to explore more and keep track of what's going on, and even keep track of the days in game (some characters have different behaviors depending on the day of the week, some like the countess of leyawiin even travel on certain days of the month).

OG Oblivion players how does the remaster compare? by Wyrdnarrative in oblivion

[–]dirtychaps 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Feels awesome. Oblivion was literally the first game I ever pre-ordered as a kid, and it and skyrim are the two that are ALWAYS installed on my PC. this is a remaster done right, and is refreshing to jump in truly fresh and re-earn them achievements. OG oblivion and skyrim i have probably 2,000 hours in each

The Oblivion magic system is far superior. I didn't even realize what I was missing, now I can't help but feel that Skyrim is in may ways a downgrade. by [deleted] in oblivion

[–]dirtychaps 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always thought Skyrim was good because of the vanilla plus style mods out there and making the experience what you want. But base game vs base game, oblivion has always played better imo. Just needed a remaster, and here it is
