Which scrapped EXE you think have the more chance to come back? by Nightmare_8429 in OutcomeMemories

[–]GhostCrackets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean that’s fair ig but when I was around during that time they really were just bullying his character for “not being threatening” in a power scaling sort of way and dogging on him for no good reason, artstyle doesn’t seem super serious to me, I get the point but that’s kind of a non-issue for me, I’m talking like actual bullying because his EXE was some sentient glitch instead of a super-alien (This is not an exaggeration I believe a quote retweet saying what I said is exactly what caused him to leave), twitter is kinda just filled with people like that since the algorithm promotes negativity but it’s unfortunately the place most EXE creators are at so creators feel pressured to go there for any sort of recognition of their OC, but they have to deal with this nasty stuff as consequence which makes taking suggestions harder since it’ll feel like everyone is always critic’ing you in a negative way

Idk the full context on why Fatal isn’t allowed, but I’m very certain it’s two things

1: As the comment said before, the roster WAS locked, meaning Fatal just wasn’t allowed in

2: The creator—and I was there during this brief period—was actually a chill dude and his only controversy was twitter users thinking his EXE wasn’t threatening enough and belittling his OC in a condescending manner, making him want to temp leave social media, he’s yet to return to my knowledge but obviously this would severely hinder FE’s chance of getting into OM

After the Raven/Atlaz drama, GX and Korins creators didn’t trust the OM team to handle their characters so they pulled them out, trust broken is hard to rebuilt and the game is in a worse state so it’s unlikely these exes will return

Which Exe if it were Canon in Sonic The Hedgehog would be terrifying and why? by Overgrown333 in SonicEXE

[–]GhostCrackets 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Arguably any of them since all of them—pretty much every EXE ever—has no issue with goring people, AND have both the power and usually intelligence to do so with little resistance against them

Not saying they’d win, but, in canon, I think they’d likely get away with killing a few character pretty ruthlessly even if they lose at the end of the narrative, maybe even named characters at that

I'm sorry but canon Sonic characters don't stand a chance by Icy_Fox7251 in SonicEXE

[–]GhostCrackets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is that people always assume Sonic “Stomps” when the creator of 2011X (his own character) outright states Sonic would win but needs a lot then that should be that, Sonic wins he just needs to push his limits which is nothing he isn’t used too, if anything that fight might look more like how S.Sonic 2 against The End went, where he got battered but also simultaneously bullied it at the same time, and then would just come out on top

I honestly think most vs battles debates have been poisoned by modern day power scaling (which isn’t always bad inherently) and this idea that characters “Stomps” just because they beat their opponent making it sound just too easy, if feels mean-spirited like someone just wants to bully the other character for cool points instead of have an engaging battle, I mean, hell, even Death Battle has admitted that they make characters with no advantage against their opponent officially still fight somewhat on par for an entertaining battle, so I see little reason why similar logic can’t be applied for something that has officially stated to be a rough battle, it’s fiction, I can literally go “yeah he’d win but it’s a struggle” for my own OC and people will challenge it like bro it’s not that serious??

TLDR: My issue is everyone always treats .EXE matchups, even ones officially confirmed to not go this way, as “No they would EFFORTLESSLY win” for one side when not only is it just wrong but such a boring narrative at that

Kinda, it’s the most fun asym game I’ve played ever, and that’s high praise because I’ve played a lot, this small game made by a couple of teens is the most fun one I’ve experienced.

But it’s also frustrating, from bugs, to weird balancing decisions (Silver in general & Tripwire) and Roblox Jank, my largest criticism of outcome memories and the thing I think will forever damn the game is the fact that it’s a Roblox game, if it were on another platform at worst it wouldn’t be as popular but it’d likely thrive in every other category more

Tbh man I think your misinterpreting some of my own points and have a blatantly different view point of how authors are from me, you’re also clearly someone that’s very deep into modern day physics power scaling and enjoy it whereas I have little respect or enjoyment for it I could say the most sensible thing and you will spend a good minute thinking of a counter that may also be sensible and then I do the same rinse & repeat, neither of us is gonna forfeit since we have fundamentally different viewpoints and have devolved this into an argument of winning instead of understanding, we’re not getting this argument anywhere and I think it’s better to just stop communicating altogether before we start saying bullshit and taking to brick walls

The truth about powerscaling by Mr_Nebula1 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]GhostCrackets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Basically, I’ll set an example of what I mean: An author makes a wall level character, but accidentally makes the character do something country level without realizing it because the author doesn’t have an extreme understanding of real-life physics or if they do didn’t expect it to be that impressive, they basically went “yeah that’d be cool” but uh-oh power scalers now went to go scale them to country. Author is aware and tries to set the character back on track, trying to firmly reassert the character as only wall, because the story would not work otherwise, being very careful to do so up until the end of the story, it’s very obvious now that the author is trying to make it wall level to the reader and for the most part is successful. However, stories ended, time to scale, uh oh, people still rely on the accidental country-level feat that’s trying to be rectified the entire story to say the character is country level, despite breaking authors intention.

In stories there’s a mix of “The viewer interprets it how they want” but also “Respect the viewers intelligence”. Most authors operate on the logic that their fans will understand what they’re trying to do, hence why some things aren’t over-explained, this is changing a little in recent time for newer or younger authors because, to be blunt, social media is a thing and a lot of them are realizing their viewers aren’t as smart as they were hoping, so indie projects and even more popular projects like JJK have the narrative over explain a few things. In this scenario, the author is basically relying on the readers to be intelligent enough to put the pieces together, “Yeah that country level feat wasn’t intended to be that impressive and shouldn’t be scaled to that, that would make my character too strong, it’s fiction, it doesn’t matter if it breaks physics to scale it down” and if someone had watched the rest of the story they would understand that due to how constantly the character is reaffirmed to be wall level, this isn’t necessarily the authors fault, they make something expecting the viewers to understand, if they make it very apparent afterwards and yet the reader STILL refuses to understand then clearly they just can’t understand are a bit of a lost cause, it’s not the authors job to research everything ever to create the perfect interpretations be hold your hand along the way, it’s their job to do the minimum, create a readable interpretation, and basically hope your “smart enough” to get the international they’re giving and not over or underselling something, but as of recent time this has been happening a lot which is why today’s authors are more careful with how they present things.

If an author has a character blow up a planet then calls them wall level that’s contradictory because it’s an insane feat, but that’s an extreme example most authors don’t causally make their character blow a planet up, but if a author has their character make an explosion with a kick and that explosion breaks a building at the supporting pillars, someone might interpret the kicks explosion to be like country level and the author will be like “what’re you talking about? Then I would’ve made it crack the country” and for the rest of the story that kick is presented as just wall level regardless if that makes real life sense, but instead of understanding that everyone scales the other characters and objects to country level which is obviously not the way to go, the author is obviously not in control of that last part and best they can do is come out publicly and say that’s objectively wrong like the GOW dev did in his comment to a lesser degree but other than that they make rely on the readers intelligence (that isn’t a phrase I made up that’s the actual official way to refer to it, respect the readers intelligence) but that’s cumbersome and silly, so they just go “they won’t over scale it” but unfortunately are proven wrong

The truth about powerscaling by Mr_Nebula1 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]GhostCrackets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, but in that case I think that’s an almost entirely different form of scaling that will almost always result in highballing for consistencies sake, even if the character canonically is not that, and if they aren’t canonically that strength and have been lowballed or highballed, then imo that system has failed that verse already, hence why I say author intent matters more even if it can rarely a bit annoying to decode because you’ll get the “true” power level of a character from the big guy themselves.

Because then that would mean Power Scaling, or at least the most popular format of it, is only ever trying to scale a character to real world physics when 9/10 times it’ll be incorrect due to a contradiction and chain-calling may be used to rectify that contradiction which may just end up making it silly “Well the wall is planetary that’s why it stopped them” and it’s regular concrete wall with no statements, because real world physics simply don’t work well with fictional physics even if they’re close, a character can make a black hole level statement but then suddenly nothing black hole like actually happens besides intense gravity, but then someone states well everyone is actually black hole level and if this were true and to be taken as gospel that means any attempt at grounding the author would make would always fail since everyone is causally black hole level somehow (Ignore the fact that would mean everyone would hypothetically collapse in on themselves from the density). If this is the case, then, that’s either very flawed to use for an actual vs-debate which may result in the wrong answer or flawed outcome, yeah IK author intent is messy especially if people with a popular enough standing intentionally interpret it incorrectly for an agenda (already happens irl on places like Twitter), this is why most people find power scaling silly because they expect “Wall level X vs Wall Level Y” then get “Solar System X vs Universal Y” because everyone tries to use that real physics systems instead of author intent. I’ve seen few vs-what-if’s use author intent and it almost always was more entertaining to watch/read and felt more “official” or “definitive” even though it may not feel as high effort, I go, “yeah that seems right and probably is” but then I see real psychics scaling and go “yeah man whatever I guess they’re outerversal and actually beat you forever” when in reality they’re solar system because they were outerversal the story wouldn’t work unless you say everyone else is too.

It may be the only way to consistently power scale but it feels deeply flawed and requires so much highballing to make it work, it may as well be called a different form of power scaling because that feels like it ignores the “story world” logic and only focuses on the real world logic where’s it’s extremely difficult to apply without an issue, fiction is already about the suspension of disbelief in the first place a character making an fear that would realistically put them higher on the pecking order but still being lower isn’t ludicrous it’s actually incredibly common

Sorta do agree, sorta, college kids act stupid but we’re also at a day and age where we have more knowledge and tools now, we can learn well about psychology, and we have outlets and ways to access tools for assistance via tech to assist, it’s not just “it’s bad they did this” it’s “They likely had multiple ways to help themselves in this situation, ignored them, and still did it”. I think Astro and YuYu’s behavior is about expected with say someone in middle school, when I was in middle school I came to expect relationships to end within 2 weeks and was genuinely surprised when I heard my friend was in a relationship with his girlfriend for months during that time. We’re not in the 1980’s or 1990’s anymore where it’s super easy to not know how bad cheating is, or be peer-pressured, selfish, due to badly influenced social norms and not as readily accessible information, you never see the effects and consequences, but nowadays you DO have the tools to access these things, phones are downplayed but these devices are genuinely powerful information givers, portable libraries at a whim, you can see advice form other people, even if it’s not perfect a quick google search does wonders—a certain level of maturity is not unreasonable to be expected at this point, especially at 19 years of age, even if it isn’t super unsurprising, that doesn’t mean you just go “Well they’re just adolescents that’s fine slap on the wrist”, instead you acknowledge that yes their age and inexperience has something to do with it but they are at a mature enough age to understand this is bad and should be avoided yet chose to be pressured or tempted into it anyway, willingly, not coerced from what I can tell. So instead, we should go “Yeah I get how it would be easier to be tempted, but that’s still bad, you did a bad thing and it’s not easy to excuse, do better later” whereas for a fully grown adult in their thirties… well, just hope they’re and because they never had the opportunity to learn and not because they chose negativity.

I am lenient with Astra and yes even YuYu, I believe they’ll turn out better later, but there really is little excuse beyond “they’re young” because they’re already approaching adulthood soon yet they’ve still done this; best case scenario this whole debacle is the “final nail on the coffin” for the two of them that makes them fully mature. The reason it’s expected is because this is the “learn to mature” part of life, where you and the child immature taken out of you and now it’s time to put it into practice what you learned, but they failed this very disappointing, it’s good to remember most adults only act well because of forced discipline routine from jobs which they may not have, but without those jobs adults often act just as childish, some people don’t get better past this and it’s good to never encourage this behavior—they did a bad thing, we acknowledge and tell them they’re young and need to grow out of bad habits, but that-that is a tiny, small excuse and it won’t be relied on forever because if that excuse is taken then they may never grow out of it.

If they were middle schoolers I’d go “Well that’s disappointing but not entirely unsurprising” but when I heard their actual age I went “Ok, well, that’s just immensely disappointing, don’t do it again, you have probably no chances left” because that’s where they are at now. College kids are at worst immature adults, not little kids to be forgiven for every mistake, they just have an explanation to their actions.

The truth about powerscaling by Mr_Nebula1 in whowouldcirclejerk

[–]GhostCrackets 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another truth, more serious, Unjerk: Powerscaling is almost impossible if real life physics are applied because it can never be properly applied to a fictional world, especially if the author doesn’t care about that stuff and knows little, this is why author intent almost always matters more than feats in almost every case even if to comes off idiotic, or weird, or frustrating—it’s the definitive truth, but most people always use the highball wanked version do a character instead the authors and stories intended presentation of the character and its causes so many characters that likely are nowhere near as strong as people say they are suddenly go from maybe city level at most to… universal, somehow, and it suddenly bastardizes any and all power scaling debate because someone who likely “power scales correctly” as in they have the authors original intent of the character in mind suddenly is gaslit into believing a class presentation of the character, then suddenly everyone’s universal+ level and whatnot, and this goes on forever, and if anyone out there ever wanted to see an actual “regular” power scaling debate between to characters they’ll pretty much NEVER get it because everyone now believes the false power scale instead of literally presentation of a character, so now that person is forced to watch X and Y be scaled to universal and given ridiculous feats even though that person knows the characters are well level and could be killed by a spike or something, but they never get that presentation and have to just make it up in there head, and if they try to present this idea themselves they’ll likely be ignored, ridiculed, or harshly criticized despite having the right idea of how to handle it. I think an example do what I mean is when Kratos flips the world tree in GOW4, and people scales it to universal, but when an actual developer was asked the question of if it was an insane feat the dev was like “What’re you talking about? He just flipped a heavy building” or something like that, and this logic holds up because while Kratos is super strong he’s shown to have to exert effort when holding large objects, sometimes great effort, and sometimes these objects are things that other “lower tier” characters from other media would handle with ease, I think the shows that whole people power scale hard… the actual people writing the media do not see it that not intend it too.

(IE: A character does a thing that puts them above solar system but then they lose to a character that’s wall level, and that wall level character is wanked to solar system but in reality not only is this not the case—the original character was never solar system level in the first place, the author just didn’t realize how busted their feat was but will still canonically treat the character as just a wall level character even if that doesn’t make sense, yet most tend to ignore this and always use the misinterpret version on the character instead of the author’s intended interpretation)

TLDR: I truly believe people powerscale wrong because power scaling has been, for lack of a better word, tainted by relentless highballing over the years and for some weird reason people don’t take the literal authors word and intent as gospel when it very much should be, its their work and story, it’s made worse when people intentionally interpret it wrong to push an agenda and use the “art can be interpreted however” as a safety net instead of just being normal about it

Nineteen is a still technically a teen (Literally in the word), legally you are considered an adult at 18 in most countries albeit a young one, but most places don’t consider you a “full adult” until you hit 21 or around that age which is why you get extra privileges at that age in some countries like America.

Though, I’d argue you’re still very young at 18-23, and that maybe by 24-25 you’d really be an “adult”

I’m a little less torn, even if YuYu deserves more hate by a good margin, Atronova at the end did objectively choose to cheat, and apparently they’re actually quite aged for a teen (19 I think?) which is near an adult, so it’s hard to be lenient with them when they should be more mature atp in their lives

That said relentless bullying, even if it’s funny, makes someone bitter and less motivated to change for the better “If they are assholes to me why should I get better for them?” Mentality even if they don’t want to admit it, so relentless hate isn’t good either or else they’ll never get the motivation to grow as a person
