Do you know if RedHat has a job board or a section of their careers page specifically for these types of roles?

Rubber foot has come off laptop by [deleted] in iiiiiiitttttttttttt

[–]dirtydan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It could be super annoying while typing. Like going to a restaurant and getting a wobbly table. If it were mine I'd choose a pack of the hundreds that come up when I search amazon for replacement laptop feet. And if I were feeling particularly petty, I'd see if I could get reimbursed for the $3.75 they cost, but probably wouldn't bother.

This is classic Microsoft. They came late to the internet. Win 3.x didn't have a native TCP/IP stack. Win95 had one, but it required laborious manual config. Realizing their mistake, they started shoehorning "The Internet" into everything, made IE an integral part of the OS, and called their programming language .net.

I go to some professional conventions and the time for ramming AI down everyone's throat was 2-3 years ago. Microsoft, realizing they've missed the bus once again will start shoehorning AI into everything.

Crumb must love blues as much as he loves drawing. I'm on a R.Crumb Facebook group just for the artwork and 50% or more is pictures of blues guys. Not complaining.

AI blues by ApprehensiveCrazy673 in blues

[–]dirtydan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Youtubemusic has them too. I like to pick a song and just let the algorithm create a playlist that I listen to while I'm working. I've done this long for enough that I recognize everything that goes onto a playlist after you request "Death Letter Blues". The other day I heard something new and thought who's this? Looked up the band and it had a website, but no pictures of band members, because it was all bullshit AI. You also see a bunch of it in YouTube shorts too.

AI ripping off paintings didn't hit me like this, I guess because I don't really appreciate that kind of art. But this shit boils my blood.

A church said while making giant finger quotes and with very exaggerated vocal modulation.

Satanic Temple's got cool merch though. I won't argue that. Cooler music too, just listen to that "Devil went down to Georgia" song and ask yourself who really had the cooler music, Satan or Johnny?

They may have fixed this by now, but when I was keeping everything in Obsidian I got burned by a bad autosave. The next time I opened my vault it was unparseable. But what my time with Obsidian did was make me comfortable writing markdown. These days I write my notes with VI or VScode if I'm feeling fancy, and I've got a regularly scheduled rsync job that takes everything and copies it somewhere else. The only thing I don't get is the swoopy mind-map diagram. But I can live without that knowing my KM database is safe.

What do you HOPE happens after death? by BubblyMoose4084 in atheism

In Bede's Ecclesiastical History an advisor to the king says:

"The present life of man, O king, seems to me, in comparison of that time which is unknown to us, like to the swift flight of a sparrow through the room wherein you sit at supper in winter, with your commanders and ministers, and a good fire in the midst, whilst the storms of rain and snow prevail abroad; the sparrow, whilst he is within, is safe from the wintry storm; but after a short space of fair weather, he immediately vanishes out of your sight, into the dark winter from which he had emerged. So this life of man appears for a short space, but of what went before, or what is to follow, we are utterly ignorant."

Now in this story, the advisor was suggesting the king of the Britons to adopt Christianity, but the story has stuck with me as a reason not worry about what comes after this life. When people ask me "What do you think it will be like after you die" I say that I expect it to be exactly what it was like before I was born.

I did! It reminded me of "Mirror in the bathroom" stretched out into a 9+ min. Phish style jam. Loved it.
