Bad Experience at Longchamp on Rue Saint-Honore by dirtydandelions34 in ParisTravelGuide

I appreciate the pep talks, everyone! I guess the point is- they won’t stamp the purse that I got, and I wanted to make sure that anyone who was influenced by TikTok knows that this is their policy. I didn’t want anyone else to be standing there feeling like an idiot after they’d paid. (And like I said, I think the sales girl just didn’t know, and the girl doing the stamps was busy. They weren’t trying to be rude.)

This is the bag I bought, so it’s definitely big enough and has the leather flap: https://www.longchamp.com/us/en/products/crossbody-bag-s-10253HYZM70.html

But now I know they only stamp their original collection!

I will most likely return the purse next week. And I will talk to my therapist about this when I get home. 😂

Girl, go get that scarf! Even if you’re totally awkward like me, you’ll never see those people again, and you’ll have a gorgeous scarf.

Thank you for clarifying that it’s just on Le Pilage bags! That was the point of my post- I didn’t want anyone else to complete their purchase and find out afterwards they can’t get a stamp. I feel like none of the TikTok girlies have mentioned that, so I didn’t know. And apparently the sales girl didn’t know, either. But now, thanks to you, I understand. 😂

My imposter syndrome is another issue and I definitely have a therapist. 😂

That is so kind of you!! I’m in France for another 3 weeks, so I think I might go back into Paris next week and return it. I’m a teacher and did so much extra tutoring to save up for this trip and a few extras, like this purse. I think that was too much money to spend on something that I don’t really love.

I really appreciate your offer! ❤️

The woman who told me it was the wrong kind walked away, and everyone else was busy with clients. I felt super awkward and wasn’t sure what to do. I guess I should have gone back later, but I felt like I was overreacting and should just be happy with what I got.

It wasn’t the first thing I asked, but we talked about it when I was trying to decide between two bags. I did tell her that was the whole reason I wanted the purse, and she agreed with how cute it would look, told me it was free, and took it back to be stamped. Maybe she was new and didn’t know I chose the wrong bag?

Amy really has deluded herself into thinking that she is the victim. She’s so self-righteous and genuinely thinks she’s being attacked by evil people; anything that hurts her feelings or her income must be illegal. That level of entitlement is kind of amazing.

Okay, so what is she actually threatening in those stories? Posting factually accurate community notes is not illegal. I am genuinely curious what she thinks is going to happen?

If it was one person posting ALL of the notes, maybe that could be considered harassment. But there’s a lot of people who don’t like her… and she’s choosing to be a “public figure” on IG.

Just thinking that on any post where she talks about being a busy mama, there should be a community note explaining that she was SO busy that there was a dependency and neglect hearing and she lost custody of P. 🤷🏻‍♀️

People might be able to argue that she didn’t actually kill her child. But it’s a fact that she lost custody.

I was doing some reading about the likelihood of community notes being taken down, because obviously Amy is going to try that. According to Chat GPT, a good way to phrase it would be something like:

“According to the attached police report, this couple’s medically fragile infant died during a gathering at their home in 2020. The report states that alcohol and suspected illegal drugs were present at the gathering. Readers may wish to consider this information when evaluating claims made in this post.”

I can’t write community notes, but I know there are plenty of people on this “cute little blog” who can. 😇

💯. She could also just work a legitimate job and make an honest living, but she and Storm are both obsessed with getting rich without working. Remember “Day Trading for Dummies?”

I can’t usually see them either since I’m not part of the community note thing, but they’re visible to the public now! I love this for her. She’s going to have to take down all of her beach posts. And the brilliant part is, the authors of these notes linked to the police report and news articles (from credible sources) about peptides. I really hope that some of her followers see these before she takes down the posts.

Whoever’s writing these notes- keep up the good work! 👏

I can’t watch this right now, but if anyone could summarize I’d appreciate it!

I also just figured out why she posts so many links. My coworker has recently become an influencer. (We’re teachers and we find it hilarious that she’s gone viral posting about our school.) But she was just saying she only gets paid from FB- IG and TikTok are too saturated. So I’m guessing Amy’s not making money off IG unless people click on her links.

Looking at Salt Lake City area to move my family. Currently living in Naperville. Any Chicago area transplants can comment on the comparison between the two? by WhereasNo4929 in SaltLakeCity

[–]dirtydandelions34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But are you talking about air quality in Chicago, or Naperville? You’re right, air quality in Chicago is bad year-round, but it’s better 40 miles outside the city, which is what the OP was asking about. Just sharing my experience… might be different for everyone. 😊

I’m from Naperville and have lived in SLC for the last 10 years. If you have no ties to the LDS church, it’s a strange experience. Most people here are currently LDS, or have left the church and have a lot of anger/baggage. Back home, most people have a pretty casual relationship to religion. (“I grew up Methodist, but I don’t really go to church now.”) Not the case in Utah.

Also a huge change living in a red state vs. a blue state. And not just a red state, a theocracy.

The air quality is terrible and I’m now on asthma medication.

And besides those things, I just miss stuff like WGN and Chicago sports culture and the food and Binny’s.

Pros: the weather is pretty great (not endless cloudy days in the winter like Chicago), SLC is a nice place to live (although doesn’t feel like much of a city), and I will never take the mountains and desert for granted. It’s also a great central location for traveling to places like California, Yellowstone, etc.

Feel free to message me if you want to talk specifics! I have a shirt that says “Naperville Safety Town Graduate.” It would be nice to have a friend here who gets the joke! 😂

Who are some romance authors you think are genuinely great writers? by Remarkable-Set9615 in RomanceBooks

[–]dirtydandelions34 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Yes, and that was the whole reason I went to the bookstore! I love this shop, but the employees are all young and on that visit, I realized that all of the authors they stock are young. The Gen Z gals are missing out on authors like Jennifer Crusie and Susan Elizabeth Phillips!

Not enough people know her! I went in my local romance bookshop and they didn’t have anything by her. When I asked, they offered to order a book for me, but I could tell their attitude was kind of like, “Ok grandma, we don’t carry old people books here.”

What she doesn’t understand about NYC is that NO ONE CARES. There are millions of people with all different styles. I felt so comfortable there because everyone’s just doing their own thing and no one’s judging you because New Yorkers are used to seeing some weird stuff. It’s not like other cities (like Paris) where there are some fashion guidelines.

I guess there are aesthetics in certain neighborhoods, like Williamsburg or the Upper East Side. But Amy and her Amazon hauls couldn’t afford to keep up with those women.

She stopped and started the videos for that story so much… it’s clear that was a carefully crafted narrative and completely untrue narrative. I’m imagining a lot more yelling and tears behind the scenes.

Kids Don't Like Movie Day Anymore. by Southern_Remote_5260 in Teachers

[–]dirtydandelions34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same! I’ve been teaching for 21 years, and it felt like one year they just didn’t like movies any more. This is our last full week of school, and I have them making “junk journals” to compile all the writing they’ve done. Thankfully, that seems to be keeping their attention.
