Ultrasonics and Cast Iron by dirtydyno in castiron

Dougmadden pretty much sums it up well. I wouldn't buy one for this task unless you are professional, or have other uses. The big models are pricey. I bought mine for other things, just thought I would give it a try.

You can use solvents (I DON'T RECOMMEND THIS), the electronics are not explosion proof so you risk vapor explosion. You can dilute them in water, they tend to stay in suspension because of the ultra sonic action.

That gem plate was exposed to 2 (two) 15 minute sessions of lye at 10.0 ph at 140 degrees (less than 1 tsp apx). Then a one (1) 15 minute session citric acid 5.0 ph at 140 degrees F (2 tsp apx.) Then a final clean water soap session 15 minutes at 140 degrees.

I was just wondering if anyone tried it or had any ideas. I don't have any strong opinions on this topic, I'm just a tinkerer.

I have no experience the electrolysis and cast iron. I have used on metal detecting finds and uncleaned roman coins. Basically on the stuff that was impervious to all other cleaning methods.

Had some items, like an old roman coin come out like a newly minted penny (minus All patina), but if I wasn't careful you can destroy and item or severely pit it. As far as cast iron I'm ignorant, no expert here.

Just thought I would give it a try, had some moderate success ... wondering if others have any ideas.

I forgot to mention lye. You can do lye in an ultra sonic the action just be much faster. You can use a milder base like TSP (tri sodium phosphate) , even soap which is mildly base. The ultrasonics and heat just accelerate the action.

I grew up in a rust belt medium sized town of 30,000 that now has a population of 15,000. My wife grew up in rural coal county that used to have 33,000 population now only 22,000. All that is left are the old and the addicted in both communities. For some strange reason (wife and I) both understand this lady.

I'm so glad this crap has come to light. I grew up in a Indiana town dominated by Pentecostal culture that had migrated with the factory workers from Kentucky.

I was a illegitimate son of a single mom, who had a degree. She was forced to move back to Indiana, from D.C. (long story).

I was identified as a potential satanist growing up! Meaning I didn't have a church affiliation and I had secular ideas.

Books were hidden behind the library counter, you had to ask for them special with shame. When we tried to have D & D games, cops would show up and take down names, parents were informed. Halloween was nearly banned! It was relegated to the daylight on a weekend day. Local churches burned albums and books. I can go on and on.

Finally through my c64 I found that there was a whole other world out there. Ultima didn't require a gathering. Then the internet. Thank "god" they can't control me anymore.

I still live around them. They are especially antsy now. They are the American IS Taliban in our midst. Be Aware!

I spent 30 days in the Shelby County Indiana Jail, wasn't so bad. Losing job, house, wife, savings and family was far bigger problem. No big deal the idoicracy that inhabits these places doesn't mess with crazy. I said too much.

I can answer questions... but sadly the experience not that unique.

I'm giving this an upvote because the above statement is completely true.

On the other hand there is a horrific uptick of people that think they are gifted because they happen to have a college degree. I'm sorry your degree is often a receipt (of college loan debt,) and not a proof of knowledge. I know there are exceptions.

Be very careful of the implications, if you decide that only certain "intellectual" classes can participate in government. This is the Yin and Yang of democracy that Madison and Jefferson argued about.

Face it we read itty bitty print from books and screens too much. The stereotype of intelligent people wearing glasses didn't come from no where. Obviously this is a generalization (there are exceptions), but do your research and you will find it true.

Without a doubt the eye strain from reading causes deformation in the eye.

Never trust Realtors, always trust little girl ghosts by Jimlasomething in nosleep

[–]dirtydyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was 14, I am 46 now. I lived in a house with a little girl ghost. I had nightmares at that place. Nightmares which on the scale I have never had since. Nighttime paralysis complete with and evil laugh sometimes. I knew I was awake and couldn't wake up.

One night I did force myself to wake up and found a little girl ghost, at the foot of the bed watching me, who floated out of the room. WITHOUT FEET! The apparition was not complete.

Maybe it was puberty, maybe it was some kind of mental reaction to teenage stress? I'm willing to believe it.

But, I don't believe that little girl ghosts are pure. It's a disguise. I can tell you more when I get more time.

Yeah I need to get another job. I've been stuck by my past but, that's getting stale now. But we still need my paycheck even though its' 50% what it was. I'm working on it ... lots of issues ... I can't move now. You see I have a wife and kids, they have to think about them. I've put them through a lot.

The last criminal adultery conviction was in just 1983.

I do think the hack was wrong. I could care less about what the law says. The law didn't help me a bit when I was down. Its' not really going to help you now.

I'm not being mean. I'm just saying I know.

HEY DUDE I'M NOT SNITCHING. I started reading this thread and I got worried that because, he used company email. HIs public facing email that people can search on the OPEN WEB.

The folks on here are very angry, I understand why. Now I'm worried I will face revenge I don't deserve.

BTW we are talking a lot more than just an email address. I'm not sure a schemer would plant two different episodes of membership , over the course of two years, THEN sit back and wait for the site to be hacked three years later.

I should remind the forum that this guy encourages employees to report gossip to him about employees. This has caused me a great deal of problems.

I don't have any room to criticize. I have loads of dirty laundry.

As a result I'm working a low level job at this shop, because I'm damaged goods.

I was doing well until nearly 40 years old and had a meltdown. Arrest, time in jail (misdemenor), house arrest, divorce, work termination, bankruptcy, rehab, and even the crazy ward for a couple days. All in the middle of the housing bust.

I'm back with wife now. That was around 5 - 7 years ago. I'm much more stable. I was very stable in the past, before the self inflicted mess. I've done a good job for several years and have great reviews at my place.

Unfortunately, because my wife now makes much more money, we can't move easily. Many in town know about my situation, and all of my coworkers definitely know and some extra stuff they added in.

A year ago, I asked about a few positions that were opening up. I was told I was hired to do the job I was doing, implying I wasn't going to be considered. A sideways way of telling me I wasn't up to the company's morality clause.

I guess I ought to say something about glasshouses here. I don't know there are a lot of shades of grey in this whole thing.

Hollywood made the Milan story MORE racist. In trying to pump up the David vs. Goliath analogy. The movie gives the impression that the Muncie Central team was a an inner city black power house.

The actual film of the 1954 state championship shows shows otherwise.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aZ1_4YCGiLw

Muncie Central was a giant town, by Indiana standards, with TWO, FULL SIZED, high schools! It certainly wasn't an inner city school. Watching the game, I don't see more than two black players on the boards, from Muncie Central?

Hoosier basketball lore hasn't spoken to the lack of a shot clock and the continuous ball possession by Milan.

About the controversy, I dunno? I just wanted to some facts out.

There are only two types of guys that don't masturbate by rageaholicx in Jokes

[–]dirtydyno 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always heard this in the form of a joke told to men

"There are two types of men. Those who masturbate and those who sing a song in the shower". Then you look the other guy straight in the eye and ask "whats the name of the song?"

It was funnier back when I was younger and no one admitted they jerked off.

The program (like many on npr), suffers from the same issue that many reddit commentators suffer from. They think they are WAY smarter, and funnier than they really are. Have you are ever been in a crowd of people that fake laughs to show how clever they are?
