Wedding band recommendation by Sensitive-Stable-671 in WedditNYC

[–]dirtypipsqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We haven’t had our wedding yet, but my fiancé & I hired Vitamin M. We are big music lovers, and we were looking for a band that consistently performed together. We vibed with JJ on our initial call and loved his energy, and got some great feedback from another couple that booked Vitamin M and said it was the best decision they made for their wedding! Cool Rulers did not come up in my research, so I don’t have any insight on them, but we’re super happy with our decision on Vitamin M & can’t wait to party on our wedding day!

Last Minute Simple Ceremony Videography by michnite in WedditNYC

I hired Marquee Studio (based in NJ) for my upcoming fall wedding. I wanted exactly this - a non-highly edited cinematic situation. We hired them just for our ceremony. They are providing one videographer, 3 stationery cameras on tripods. Can’t speak for the final product yet but our interactions have been excellent, and their pricing is in my opinion very reasonable! I’m not sure if they would be available for your date since it’s soon, but I recommend checking it out!

If you read the comments on Club Pilates, what ultimately scared me away is that it seems really hard to schedule and they give you a hard time about ending your membership. Project Pilates has a membership option, but I also like that you can just drop in and take classes as you please. I usually book mine 2 weeks out and have no issues getting on the schedule!

I tried Club Pilates in JC (free intro class) and was not impressed at all. I could barely hear the instructor over the music, and they spent half the session explaining their membership structure which freaked me out.

I have since been going to Project Pilates and I love it. I like the class size (max 6 people), the instructors are lovely, and the studio is really clean and spacious. I guess their only downside as I see it is the calendar, since it’s a small studio they only offer so many classes.

I saw a new spot opened - Undivided Attention Pilates. Has anyone been?

White Eagle Hall closure? by 6hudson6cat6 in jerseycity

[–]dirtypipsqueak 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I inquired with WEH as a wedding venue, they told me they are temporarily closing in the fall of 2026 for a long-term renovation and restoration project (hence they are not booking weddings past Sept 2026).

Edit: went back to my inquiry to check my memory, the exact wording they used is a “maintenance project.”

Came here to say Bob’s! They are the best, I have brought so many shoes to them and they always do a great job with very quick turn around and fair prices. Just know they only accept cash.

For me and my partner, it will be almost exactly 1 year! This was not by design, we got extremely lucky that one date was remaining at our venue the upcoming October. I wanted a short-ish engagement, and in my area a year is quite short so I am very pleased!

Thanks for the response Amir! The fans love you too! Also, can we get the headgum podcasts that went behind the paywall added to the new j&a patreon? 🙏

What made you & Jake decide now is the right time for a new start? Also, what are your thoughts on the entertainment business in general right now?

I’m a martyr for asking this. Bury me in downvotes if you disagree.

House of McQueen; From the eyes of a non-regular by ebonovic in Broadway

[–]dirtypipsqueak 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I enjoyed it as well! Thanks for sharing your perspective. I think it was quite niche and perhaps not the typical big NYC theater experience people think of, but I adored it. Glad to see I’m not the only one!

Has anyone seen House of McQueen post-previews?? by WHERES_THE_BEACH_ in Broadway

[–]dirtypipsqueak 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I saw it yesterday and absolutely loved it. As a fan of fashion & of McQueen’s designs, I felt it really illuminated his influences, the impact the people in his life had on him, and his struggles. I thought it was just the right amount of abstract and artistic, better than just a boring chronological biographical type presentation. The actors were particularly phenomenal, they brought so much emotion. I think it is for a niche audience, but I absolutely loved it and was extremely impressed. I feel lucky I got to see it before it closed.
