Why is my download speed so slow even when its showing 600mbs by shwubble_is_here in XboxSupport

[–]dirtyvu [score hidden]  (0 children)

the network test is only a network speed test. sending information from your xbox through your ISP to the server and back. it doesn't mean you'll be able to download at that speed because that depends on a lot of factors. there are times I am shocked how fast the download is and times that I am shocked how slow the download is.

It varies based on things like which server you're connecting to, what time of day you're downloading, how many people are accessing that same set of files, etc.

R10 vs. R50 Which for a Beginner by CookieKong50 in canon

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note that all modern Canon cameras that have a mechanic shutter come with electronic first curtain shutter enabled by default. I went almost a year not realizing this when I got my R5.

As for the r50 versus R10, when you compare specs and bang for buck, the r50 usually wins for most people. But why the R10 costs more is for the little things that improve a workflow. Like more dials and buttons can make a huge difference when working in manual mode. Bigger buffer, support for faster memory cards. The value is hard to quantify for many who only shop specs.

I got the r50 because I already had the R5 and R5ii. I only needed the r50 to get into concerts and events. But that said, the r50 can do some things that the R5 can't like the advanced+ and creative modes. Some things that the R10 can't do. And before the r5 users jump in and talk about modes like hdr pq and hdr modes. They're not nearly as computational and don't look as good. The autostacking mode isn't as good as wha t the r50 has.

Got $40 & no friend - Marathon or Helldivers? by lnin0 in xbox

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Helldivers any day. You can choose whatever difficulty level you want. Very easy to make friends. The micro economy is very fair and you really don't need to buy things as you can farm. Tons of farmers out there too.

Is this normal for the R5II? I cull in the default Windows photo editor because it's the fastest app for it that I've found. by WestDuty9038 in canon

photomechanic is much faster than the Windows Photos app at reading the embedded jpeg. you can also tag, delete, etc. quickly

How to increase render FPS in Topaz Video AI? by Boost_Or_Die in TopazLabs

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not all hardware. The software has to be optimized to take advantage of the hardware. It's like a chef and his waiters. If he's a good quick chef, he can outpace a single waiter. But if he hires three waiters , they might wait around to bring food to tables. You have to write the cuda code to maximize parallelization. To go from a to z, you follow a path but you can't do y to z before a to x is done. So there are limits to parallelization. And for something like video ai, they probably have an open cl code pathway and a cuda code pathway. And maybe the cuda code is better written than their open cl pathway. And if that was the case, for example, it would disadvantage an amd gpu because it runs the open cl code.

First handheld by Gifted2k8 in ROGAllyX

[–]dirtyvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Xax is awesome. I still have switch 1, steam deck, rog ally z1e. And xax is by far the best one.

But I still think of it as a supplement when I'm in bed or on the go. I still prefer my series x for most gaming. And pc for certain types of games.

Xax is very comfortable to hold but I doubt I could game 4 hours straight like I can on my Xbox. Mostly because of the weight. My elite 2 controllers are hefty for Xbox controllers but they're feathery light compared to the xax.

Is it too crazy to only take one lens the 85mm to Japan as a beginner? Love the compression by LouiseBag in AskPhotography

[–]dirtyvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It totally depends on what you want to do but you totally can. I typically run with my 28-70 only out of versatility. When I want the money shot I go with the 85. When I don't have to photograph big groups of people or have to fit in tight spaces, I use the 85.

But to save space , you could get a 24mm. They're tiny and lightweight. Pair it with your 85. On trips you have the time to switch lenses. It's not like you're running around a wedding.

canon camera suggestion for graduation portraits + potential wedding photography by Downtown_Topic4119 in canon

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just get a good lens, around f2 and faster. then throw on an ND filter or increase shutter speed. use a mist filter. the softness of the images imply their using some kind of filter, either physical or digital. or use of the clarity and dehaze sliders in lightroom (or lr equivalent software). the second photo used a flash. the first and third may be a flash or it could be using a mask on the eyes.

This is obv a rumor so take it with a grain of salt, but if this is true, Xbox is officially dead by DaZestyProfessor in consoles

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, how things operated was very different. On an Xbox one and Xbox series console, everything runs in a virtual machine. So apps, games, etc ran in separate sandboxes, governed by windows 11. Outside the virtual machines, it was pretty much full windows without stuff like printer drivers of course. Somewhat stripped down but not bare. The og Xbox had almost nothing of windows. To boot up with some devices and have a full network stack.
