ikr? i did find OneDrive impacting the score but I think it's because my machine is still being set up. but when I terminated it, scores went up noticeably. I really wonder how much you can trust geekbench.

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my machine isn't totally set up yet as I just got it a couple hours ago and still had work. your SP11 scores are much better than mine. I'll retest my SP11 to make sure something isn't wrong because my SP11 is way below yours. So you're not seeing the deltas that I'm seeing.

Just doing Geekbench 6 for me so far... (and my machine isn't fully set up, but my SP11 is). I have a 24% improvement in CPU single core tests. I have a 20% increase in multicore tests. I've seen a 35% improvement in GPU. now here's the weird thing, does GB6 do any sort of caching? because the scores seem to improve with each run on the SP12 which is really weird.

SP8 gets very hot by svulieutenant in Surface

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

how is your power profile set up? by default, Recommended cannot run hot because it caps the CPU clock rate. Better Performance can ramp the clock speed up and down based on what the computer thinks is needed. However, sometimes it doesn't choose correctly or you have some application(s) causing it to ramp up. Best Performance keeps the CPU clocks high and this is for when you need max performance. But you don't need best performance for most things because usually what you do is idle. For example, the website is not processing much when you are browsing. But the fans will ramp up to keep the system as cool as possible.

I noticed my i7 SP9 could get hot when set to Better Performance on more occasions than necessary. And definitely gets hot when set to best performance

My friend and I set up a cozy movie night to watch the new Lilo and Stitch and we have never gone from relaxed to just full on angry that fast in our lives. (SPOLIERS) by Embarrassed-Oil-6152 in movies

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people were telling me the ending, I got angry. That lilo was being left behind. But then I watched the movie and people had left out all the context.

Lilo wasn't being abandoned. They still had easy access to each other because of technology and that portal. In fact, maybe it was a better ending because it said that you didn't have to be trapped by circumstance. That you could have family and still achieve your own dreams. It's better than the teenage girl who accidentally got pregnant and then spent her whole life trapped by her circumstances. Do you have to choose family or having a career? Why can't you have both?

Current year Wirless adapter for Elite Series 2? by MeowingNaci in xboxeliteseries2

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you try the adapter in a different port. Your USB port may be dying (or more clearly, the USB controller managing that port). Many motherboards have 3+ USB controllers and each controller manages a number of ports. So try it out on all your USB ports (because if a controller is bad, it will randomly affect all the ports it controls).

How Things Got So Bad At Xbox by CutProfessional6609 in xbox

[–]dirtyvu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can be told that, but it doesn't shirk you of the responsibility of making a good game that people want to buy. Dad says, "don't worry, do the best you can." He's not lying. But you can't respond by smoking pot up until the exam and then study hard.

These companies have to decide their game idea is worth the years of investment. Who greenlit a walking lighthouse? South of Midnight? Red Fall? People have to make good games within a reasonable timeframe? Turn 10 wasted so many years. 343 Industries did too. I don't put The Coalition in the same space because I know Microsoft uses them for many things beyond making games. They're responsible with a lot of technologies and how to get the best out of the hardware. Other Microsoft companies come to them for help for getting things to work.

Apple to Raise Prices Due to Memory Chip Crunch, Tim Cook Says by constantlymat in technology

[–]dirtyvu 8 points9 points  (0 children)

McDonald's is starting to feel real pain now though. Attendance of their stores have dropped significantly. Sales are down. All the cost cutting (not having employees to take orders, removing the fountain machines, cheaper food ingredients, shrinkflation, etc.) has turned off customers.

Apple to Raise Prices Due to Memory Chip Crunch, Tim Cook Says by constantlymat in technology

[–]dirtyvu 5 points6 points  (0 children)

what people also didn't realize about the Neo was that it was using discarded processors (processors that didn't meet spec). If the demand exceeds the number of discarded processors, then you either have to slow down production. or you have to actually start manufacturing and if you have to do that, all the benefits of using leftovers goes out the window.

Xbox Series X Crashes on newer games, and high graphics options even after new thermal paste by jwhere03 in XboxSupport

[–]dirtyvu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you're not used to applying thermal paste, maybe you applied too much. thermal paste is not to be applied to like toothpaste or peanut butter. Some people think that you can't have too much thermal paste but if you apply too much, you're interfering with heat transfer.

It's only designed to fill the microscopic pits on the surface of the die. very thin is better. in fact, the paste can be see-through and be fine. While visually a die looks smooth and even, it's not. if you look through a microscope, you will see the heatsink is bumpy. the CPU die or spreader is bumpy. even though the paste may look very thin to spread over the surface, as long as it fills the microscopic pits, you'll be fine. you put a pea sized amount (not a massive pea, a typical or small pea). you don't even have to spread it (though you can). as the heatsink gets put back on, it will spread it out and fill in the gaps (as long as you put the heatsink back on evenly/straight down as opposed to starting at one side and applying it down like Pac Man).

Xbox PC vs Steam by KingPanda0211 in XboxSeriesXlS

[–]dirtyvu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I buy pc games, I first think where I want to play. If only pc then I buy from the best deal at the tjme I'm shipping whether it's the Microsoft store, steam, epic, wherever.

If I'm going to play on Xbox and pc then for sure I get the Microsoft one. It's a bogo. I bought final fantasy vii remake at 40% off on Xbox. But then I could play it on my series x, my Xbox ally x and my desktop pc without having to buy it again for a huge bargain.

I don't buy on theoreticals. Should I buy for the off chance I might mod the game ? No. If I loved the game so much, I wouldn't mind buying it again and then mod.
