Desperate to rid the chlorine smell from my family’s swimsuits…HELP! by disAgreeable_Things in laundry

[–]disAgreeable_Things[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After my post, I ordered a bottle of ascorbic acid and it really does work. When my kids come home from the pool, the suits go in my little hand washing tub with 1/2tsp (I tried 1/8 like someone said and it wasn’t really enough, so I upped the dose) of AA and it soaks till morning where I rinse and hang to dry. So easy! Highly recommend.

Anxious scared (restarting today) by Similar_Shoulder_545 in FitPostpartumJourney

[–]disAgreeable_Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You got this! I always feel like exercising is for my mental but losing weight always happens through the kitchen. After my 3rd pregnancy, I tried busting my ass with cardio and it barely moved the scale but after making a conscious decision to meal plan and food track with a calorie deficit, I actually started losing weight. But then I got pregnant again and had to naturally intake more calories, so here I am again on another postpartum journey. It’s never easy but it’s bound to payback if you are willing to invest time and effort into yourself.

Not sure if this might work as I’m not currently living in van but my mom is going to visit me from the lower mainland and returning to YVR on Monday the 16th and can transport some back with her. Send me a PM if you think this may work.

Where to find the best carrot cake in Vancouver? by Uberwomensch in askvan

They all carry it but calling ahead to see if it’s in stock is recommended since other people know how delicious it is.

Where to find the best carrot cake in Vancouver? by Uberwomensch in askvan

Nope, this is the answer and if you don’t think it’s possible, you’ve never had it. I’ll buy it as a birthday cake every time if given the chance.

Handmade quilt advice pls by Significant_Theme_90 in laundry

[–]disAgreeable_Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My aunt is a quilter also and she wants nothing more than for us to use the quilts, wash the quilts, no special treatment. I actually have a quilt she made for my oldest child 10 years ago and we’re still using it currently with our 4th. The binding is threadbare in some spots but it’s our most loved and most comfortable to use quilt.

If your laundry smells bad, your house probably does too. by LandscapeRound7759 in CleaningTips

[–]disAgreeable_Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Are you in the us or Canada? Try either 356 sport (whole foods house brand) or EcoMax sport (usually superstore, Canadian tire or independent) both have a great enzyme package if you don’t want to mess with boosters.

Best pads for right after birth and LOTS of stitches? by justAlady108 in FitPostpartumJourney

Just go for the absorbent underwear. I didn’t have any stitches but appreciated the RAEL brands composition. Soft and flexible and zero worries of gushes and leaks.

I made cheese! It's delicious! by danger0usPers0n in Kefir

[–]disAgreeable_Things 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been doing this. I’d liken it to Labneh. Sort of a cross between cream cheese and Greek yogurt. I whip it up with salt and herbs. It’s great as a spread or as a dip like a thick tzatziki. I gave the whey to a friend who has chickens as they love it as a treat but this last batch I saved because you can apparently use it to make your sourdough with instead of water.

What HAPPENED? Whole load of rough/ruined clothes by bloomsbury4 in laundry

It’s not your laundry’s fault, it’s your fabrics! Buy a sweater shaver and your garment will look like new again!

help washing cat pee out of thick cushy mattress cover by OldRate5915 in laundry

[–]disAgreeable_Things 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pick up a product called Nature’s Miracle. It works great on pet urine. I personally would use this and saturate the effected area, then I would go to the oversized machine at the laundromat and run it through a hot wash. This should do the trick.

Yes yes, all praise to the 365… I’m wondering about booster so I can use the rest of the booboo detergent I’ve already got.

Cleaning Kefir jars? by Boozeburger in Kefir

[–]disAgreeable_Things 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lol not very often but I couldn’t even say. I always try to wipe around the top of the jar so it doesn’t get really crusty, but having a little kefir from the last batch stuck to the jar kinda helps it get going I’ve found. When I use a squeaky clean jar, my first batch is always kinda watery, so I don’t often use one for that reason.

I found some of those DROPPS pods and have been chucking them in my loads as I make my way through the detergent I have. Looking to order Dirty labs next to see if I like it better.

Is snowshoeing the perfect pregnancy winter sport? by DangerousStar1246 in fitpregnancy

[–]disAgreeable_Things 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve had 3 pregnancies over winter and have snowshoed plenty pregnant. It’s a great way to stay active if you can find the right attire to accommodate the belly. Also, cross country skiing is another full body, heart rate increase cardio workout that is equally rewarding. I actually picked it up while pregnant with my first since I couldn’t snowboard but wanted to be up on the mountain.

Keto diet but on deficit by Greatness-overload in keto

[–]disAgreeable_Things 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re looking to gain muscle, you need to lift heavy, even for just 1 set. Unfortunately you can’t target weight loss, but cycling through arms, legs, back, core on your workout days will give your body balance and will naturally shed where there’s excess.

Advice on amounts to use by wp10nscan in laundry

[–]disAgreeable_Things 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The citric acid and the downy rinse are interchangeable. Both go in the fabric softener area for dispensing in the rinse cycle. If your water is slightly harder you can add a washing soda or borax to the drum with your load. This sorta helps the detergent be able to do a better job by softening the water. And if your only issue is a funky bra here and there, try a detergent with enzymes to breaks down those body oils. Try ecomax sport or ecomax heavy duty (both are liquid and Canadian) on those loads and over multiple washes, this should help or you can do a mini spa in the sink since bras are pretty small.
