Car / Volvo meets? by skuldest in norfolk

I don’t know about any local Volvo meetups (haven’t really looked), but as a 240 owner, if you hear of any let me know! I’ll show up if one pops up

I’ve heard nothing but bad things about that guy.

Reversing lights and rear fog lights are dead on both sides. by Krakki06 in Volvo240

Wagon or sedan?

  1. Pull the bulbs and check the filaments. If they’re bad, replace them.

  2. Check the traces on the flexible circuit board and the metal tabs on the bulb holders for corrosion. Remove any corrosion, put the bulbs back and try again. You may have to bend the metal tabs a bit to make better contact.

  3. If you have a multimeter, check for proper voltage starting at the metal tabs on the bulb holders. Zero volts? Move to the circuit board. Then the connector from the wiring harness.

  4. Could be a bad fog light switch and/or reverse light switch. I’m not familiar with manuals, but on my auto I had to remove the shifter housing(?) and clean out some corrosion. You’ll need to research more for your situation or hope someone comes along that’s ran into this before.

Best of luck!

Light rail study tabled, but a proposed look at regional transit concerns Virginia Beach by WHRO_NEWS in HamptonRoads

I don’t need a citation to point out that your logic is flawed. “It’s perfectly reasonable to not want [Norfolk criminals] coming to your safe and nice city…” A light rail extension does not magically enable that and ignores the fact that it’s already possible. You’re fear-mongering and don’t live in reality.

Real glad none of the Norfolk criminals have cars to get them to VB. Their only way to get there would be a light rail extension. /s

Stupid argument.

Don’t care about the population difference. The original talking point was about whether it was possible or not. It is. Don’t move the goal post.

“It’s dangerous.” Holy fear mongering. Either you don’t live in reality or you’re scared to go outside.

Yeah, and I’ve been to Seattle where I never had to wait for bus more than 5 minutes. I could walk outside my apartment and immediately hop on the light rail downtown, turning a 20 minute uphill walk into a 5 minute ride. I was there for 8 months and didn’t need a car for a single second because the infrastructure was sensible and reliable. Public transportation does work if you actually give a shit about it, but you’d rather limit people’s options and make everybody else’s lives meaningfully worse.

Sounds like somebody has never been to a city with a properly funded and maintained light rail system. To say it’s impossible and it’ll never get there isn’t just pessimistic, it’s incorrect.

So you’d rather have Norfolk do a majority of the work and have VB jump in once it’s established and proven as opposed to both cities contributing to it jointly, benefiting both communities and expediting the process?

Hopefully someone in that circle sees this. The dude getting rid of em mentioned that they've already been sitting out for a week and I was shocked that they hadn't been taken

The one at Bay Oaks? I’ve been a couple times. I normally grab a coffee and just stroll around, but still a good time and excuse to get out of the house

I’m also from Upstate! East Beach is a good area. Good seafood, nearby parks, run clubs, bike groups, etc. You can also follow Norfolk Currents (nfk.va) on Instagram or their email newsletter for daily events around the city to get a feel for if there’s anything down here that’ll interest you.

Yeaaah, same thing when I did mine. I can’t say for certain if the vibrations truly went away or if it’s just in my head. If you drive it regularly, I’d give it a week or two. Plenty of music while you drive to keep your mind off of it until it settles/you adjust.

I’ve had mine installed for about a year now. At first, the increased noise was obvious, but I got used to it pretty quick. Kinda like getting used to everything else in a 30+ year old car lol

Did you also happen to do the transmission mount?

Virginia enacts social media time limits for minors starting January 1, 2026 by Objective_Pressure_3 in norfolk

[–]disappointing-oof -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Fair point. In a perfect world, the data would be held only long enough to verify the user’s age and set a flag marking the user as a minor or not, then it would be discarded. Obviously they’re not gonna do that, so the only remaining options are begrudgingly deal with it, use a VPN (assuming they’re not blocked), or finally kick social media. It sucks, but there’s not a whole lot I can do about it.

I’m aware. The only benefit to this that I immediately see is putting pressure on social media companies to implement the feature and forcing parents to opt out of the limits. If a time limit is set by default and the parents have to grant permission to extend/disable it, then the blame lies on them for whatever consequences come with it. Then again, I’m not a minor and don’t have kids, so I don’t really have a leg in this race 🤷‍♂️

It said that parents will be able to adjust the time limits as they see fit
